Wow, that's a lot of shows! Only seen them once myself, on the Fly From Here tour, but very grateful to have had the chance to see Chris and Alan before it was too late.
Leave It is amazing! WTH? This whole album here is spectacular! More YES please! Did you say struggling with Jon’s vocals? Oh no you didn’t…best vocals to this music ever!!
Thanks for watching Nancy! I appreciate I'm in a minority when it comes to appreciating Jon's vocals - but I haven't given up on them someday 'clicking' quite yet!!
Another most beautifully exquisite song ever created by YES. Your Jon vocal issue is a huge problem with your ears. You're like the 1% that don't get it. His tone, tambor and texture plus skill as a singer are unmatched. Steve produces the most richly brilliant solo guitar moments ever. And that trio instrumental keys solo section is simply masterful
Oh it's certainly beautiful (if Annie Haslam was singing I'd be ALL over it, I'm sure!) but it doesn't matter that I don't 'get' Jon, he's a legend and doesn't need me (and I hear his new solo album is great, so good blimmin' on him!), just one of them things - ya can't love everything!
Took me 15-20 years of owning CTTE until I started not cringing a bit from Jon´s voice.. all PTSD from Jon&Vangelis 80s hit.. I associated his voice with bad 80s vibes.. I finally got over it and have been a huge Yes fan for over ten years. It´s been a great ride and now I´m happy I "saved" such a great band until later in my life when I needed it.. In a weird way I´m actually grateful I was skeptical to mr Anderson´s voice for so long.
Funnily enough when I listened to Leave It I didn't notice his voice so much, as there were plenty of other things to annoy me there, but with this one it was my only distraction...but your post gives me hope that one day my ears will relent and accept him!
I Have heard this song a thousand times. I wish you luck. Which means if you don't this song or understand this this...The Yes Family which I am a part of will deem you as a low tier reactor and lack the sophistication of appreciating Art. "Relayer" the album, celebrates its 50th birthday of existence. Good luck to you!!!
Ah, thanks for the best wishes. But watch out for the breed of reactors who just tell you what you want to hear, so many reactions (regardless of the artist or song) are all 'this is AMAZING', but they'll never listen to it again - or so much as give it another thought - in their lives...this channel is proudly a BS-free zone! Cheers, JSB.
Anyone who is jealous of Jon Anderson is actually jealous. Truth. Because he is an angelic, take you places with his voice kind of person. Jealousy. And that’s ok. We all don’t like everything, and we all have real reasons. 😎❤️☮️🎼
Jealousy ain't a factor, and while he's not to my personal taste I do admire him and his achievements a great deal. He's also massively influenced a load of acts I DO love so have to thank him for that!
To me, 80's yes is not YES. If Steve is not the guitarist, it's not YES. With that, I was not sure what you meant when you said, "This isn't normal for Steve Howe, is it?" Sounds like YES may not be your cup of tea. To test this, I would suggest you react to Awaken, off the Going for the One album. If it does not take you on a fantastic journey, then I would not waste any more time reacting to YES. YES music is not for everyone. Great reaction to To Be Over. Peace!
Thanks for watching! I *think* what I was referencing was a passage of what I'd consider more aggressive playing from Steve than I'm used to (whether in Yes or Asia) if that makes sense!
The Yes Album......Fragile......Close to the Edge....Tales from Topographic Oceans......Relayer........Going for the One. Maybe Tormato, but that was the end of Yes's magical run of albums. Their more commercial 80's albums never even came close. Jon's voice is unusual for a rock singer. Maybe you just have to get used to it more. It was also different when i first heard it. Have you heard their song that was a hit when it came out "Roundabout" from Fragile, in 1971? It is the consummate Yes song.
Thanks for watching - yep I know Roundabout pretty well. Another commenter mentioned taking a good 20 years to 'get' Jon's voice, so there's hope yet...!
a lot of the vocals here were John and Chris Harmonies. I wanted to hear more opinions from you on this video, but the song was a nice listen. Leave It is an all singing song, which is a yes rarity.
Yes is sort of an acquired taste (all eras) and so they aren't for everyone. If you have never heard any prog rock before or just know of it then Pink Floyd is the best place to start. After them I would say Peter Gabriel era Genesis and then Yes and then all the others.
Thanks Mike, I'm a fan of some prog (some people who know me actually believe it's all I listen to, tho that is way off!) but classic era Yes has never quite clicked, tho I always feel it may still do so some day! Only thing I know for sure is I will NEVER dive into Tales of Topographic Oceans...!
Just as well they never did anything wild like taking a 4 minute segment of a 22 minute track and playing it on the radio (or putting it on a Best of) then eh! :P
Definitely *do not check out Gates of Delirium.* Instead, I recommend that you abandon this venture into YES' catalog as you'll only be continually disappointed. You may find a YES song or two that you like, but most of their earlier masterpieces are very dense (always "a lot going on") & experimental, which you clearly have little appetite for. You seem to favor "easy listening" music & that ain't YES I'd say you have rather simple musical tastes, & there's nothing wrong with that as it is quite common for casual listeners. There's plenty of such music out there that will appeal to your musical tastes, but nothing about YES' approach to creating unique musical compositions is simple. YES fans love their mastery of complex arrangements that always emphasize melody & soaring vocal harmonies, but their creative appetite for complexity of composition will always leave you bored. Your ears aren't the least bit interested So have yourself a nice life, friend, but do yourself a favor & drop this passing interest in the music of YES...
Wow, you got all that from me really enjoying the track but not being a fan of Jon's voice...see this sort of insight (and the bloke who kindly explained how people once listened to albums from start to finish as if that was a foreign concept) is what I'll miss when I stop doing Yes videos...thanks 'friend' indeed...!
YES. Best...band...ever. Thanks!!! for the reaction.
Thank YOU for watching!
YES, the greatest show on earth. I've seen YES 36 times from 75 to 2015.
RIP Squire and White.

@Act0rJSB unlike Jon, unfortunately Annie can't sing like she once did.

I listen to This album and Tales while organizing my office or cleaning my garage. The real meat is in their albums from #1 to Yessongs
Interesting, thanks!

Leave It is an incredible song! WTF is wrong with you? LOL
As for what is wrong with me...now, how long have ya got??? Hahaha, thanks Nancy!

Thanks for watching - it's a fine line between offering too much or too little in the way of opinions, but I'll get it right eventually, ha!
it doesn't make sense...musically, the Anderson's YES output is so superior in every measure to what followed, except Drama, which is awesome.
Drama is great!

Back in the day an album was created to be listened to asa a complete album so listening to individual tracks is taking them out of context.

@@Act0rJSBCatching a different market probably or teasing people into buying the album, still far better listening to the album as a whole
The least good song on the album. Gates is truly epic, and Sound Chaser has the most epic start to a Yes song. This is pleasant
Haha, let's call it the 'third best' from the album then!
@@Act0rJSBremember opinions are like leaving a fart in an elevator
Cha cha cha cha cha
I love To Be Over! Favorite song on the album
Pleasant?!
It’s gorgeous. One of their deepest and loveliest cuts. Beautiful start to finish.
