      @CollinceBey
Right in the middle of the biggest electoral fraud in the history of the country, in December 2007 at KICC, Martha Karua @MarthaKarua stood up and became the face of that fraud, by declaring on global media that Kibaki was winning fairly and the complainants could take a walk.
With that action, she helped entrench the culture of elections theft that has now become our way of life. Her tribesmen celebrated her so much that they named her "the only man in Kibaki's cabinet" after she was rewarded with the Justice Ministry in the coalition government.
In that government, she was part of the wing that made the Prime Minister's life difficult. But Raila still made her running mate in 2022. Today, she doesn't want Raila to dialogue with Ruto.
As the country burned to ashes in the post-election violence of 2008, the leader of ODM-K (later renamed Wiper), suddenly joined the Kibaki half cabinet, stamping the electoral fraud and changing the destiny of Kenya's elections for good. Pre-election, @skmusyoka had both fled with the ODM-K party instruments and also refused to join Raila Odinga's presidential team, which would have wiped out any chances of the infamous Tharaka Nithi fraud.
By joining government, Kalonzo planted the evil seed that slayed democracy and made future credible elections impossible.
In the coalition government, while hoping to be Kibaki's anointed successor, he became part of the team that rode roughshod on the PM's office.
But when he was snubbed for Uhuru, he fled to Raila's arms and they worked together. He too doesn't want Raila to dialogue with Ruto.
Remember the famous matching shirts and ties in 2013?
Well, you may remember the Uhuruto ones, but the original matching ties and shirts pair was Uhuru Kenyatta and Eugene Wamalwa @EugeneLWamalwa.
They were both in TNA, and Wamalwa had been tapped as Uhuru's running mate, before he gave way after Ruto's URP waltzed in with demands for half of everything.
In a way, Wamalwa played a leading part in establishing Ruto on the path to power by enabling him in this manner. He willingly took part in smoothening the way for ICC indictees to take power later. He doesn't want Raila now to talk to the person he played a big role in setting up for power.
The hypocrisy in Azimio is sickening.
Raila Odinga is the leader of ODM, the country's most popular and longest lasting large movement.
His decisions have to be right by ODM before they are with the coalition. It is inconceivable that people who, when their interests are served, would and have already shown the affinity to move at will, now want to hold Raila hostage.
If the Azimio Coalition doesn't want dialogue with Ruto, but ODM wants, the latter can do as it pleases.
Raila has been on the ballot five times.
Those who reject him each time are also the ones who think he should serve their interests after they have elected mad men into office. You cannot elect Ruto, demand after a year and a half that he must go, and then be categorical that Raila must support you in this!
What nonsense! Someone has pointed out that even the Gen Z protestors are at an age in which they certainly qualified to vote in 2022. So who did they vote for, if they want Ruto gone?
Did they see Raila on the ballot?
If they didn't vote for him, what gives them the authority to decide what he should do now? And if you are not a member of ODM, what gives you the right to determine what the ODM Party Leader and the NEC should do?
*Hypocrisy must die!* When Kibaki Raila , Ngilu, Wamalwa formed NARC, they signed an MoU which was to create the position of PM to be occupied by Raila.
During the campaign, Kibaki got injured and couldn't stay on the campaign trail. Dr Gikonyo (Kibaki's personal doctor) in an interview, said the process of airlifting Kibaki to London made him have great respect for Raila. He narrated how Raila mobilised some young men who lifted Kibaki onto the plane.
Nevertheless, with Kibaki away Raila stepped in, tirelessly rallying his colleagues to campaign for NARC. He always used the analogy that the injury of a captain doesn't affect the team.
After all , he understood the terrain of opposition politics much better than most of his colleagues who had just come from KANU where they had spent most of their political lives. They were literally new to opposition politics.
NARC went on to win the election with a huge majority, but it didn't take long before the mafias turned against Raila. The then State House Comptroller Matere Kereri proudly narrated in his book how they immediately stopped Raila from accessing State House because they believed he was a bad man who could confuse Kibaki into honouring the MoU.
These mafias believed that implementing the MoU could threaten their new grip on power. David Musila narrates how Raila, then serving as cabinet minister, was turned away at State House gate alongside other LDP members when they tried to see Kibaki.
Raila took it in his own stride, accepted his isolation but slowly gravitated towards opposition politics that led to the formation of ODM. He defeated the mafias, but they stole his victory openly without shame. But still, Raila compromised for the stability of the country which was already in flames.
My point is , Raila has seen it all, from helping the thankless to carrying along joyriders who later turn back to betray him. Even civil rights activists who should be operating away from politicians are now accusing him of betrayal because they wanted to ride on his back to cause anarchy while pocketing dollars.
Raila is an old man who knows what is bad and good for the country. I am not even half his age. So why would question his wisdom? Kenya is a democratic country. If you don't agree with another person's political stand you are free to pursue another political path. With jensis not relenting and a wayward DP who had started crying on top of his vehicle "mimi wana nidharau" to whip up emotions in Mt Kenya, Ruto knew his goose was cooked if the opposition joined the protests.
He had to find a way of scuttling the opposition to buffer his own position. And this he did by going for the strongest opposition figure and Baba grabbed the opportunity.
When Boris Johnson saw prime minister Theresa May dithering on the question of Brexit, he saw it as an opportunity to fulfil his long-held ambition of becoming prime minister. He consequently resigned as Foreign Secretary and began his plot.
He incited other party members against May by pitching himself as the only true and the reliable keeper of the Brexit flame. In the end the pressure was too much for May to handle and she resigned as Johnson took over.
It didn't take long before Boris Johnson suffered the same fate when his most trusted minister Rishi Sunak saw the post covid chaos as an opportunity to overthrow Boris Johnson.
It was the resignation of Rishi Sunak as Chancellor of the Exchequer that led to the downfall of Boris Johnson. He didn't even inform Johnson who only came to learn about the resignation in the media.
This led to angry recriminations from prime minister Johnson allies with one even describing Sunak as a ‘treacherous b*****d’. After Boris resigned he almost sent Sunak a video calling him a C*****t.
However Sunak failed in his bid to become prime minister when he was defeated at the Conservatives convention. Eventually he managed to come in through the backdoor after Lizz Strauss resigned.
In the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn and Keir Starmer were very good friends even travelling together. Starmer would later capitalise on Jeremy Corbyn's troubles in the Labour Party to remove him. Among the accusations were that Corbyn had taken the Labour party too far to the left.
Even though Starmer had always been with Corbyn on the extreme left and had even subscribed to his ideologies, he rebranded as a centre left just to take over the Labour Party in his bid for premiership. He went as far as kicking Corbyn out of the party making him partyless.
As Corbyn recently said " He was my best friend, but l understand that's how politics run."
In a nutshell all politicians are scavengers. It is a dirty game. If you don't capitalise on an opportunity, they'll grab it and run away with it. The opportunities could be those good for the country or those serving their interests.
