Hi everyone! This is Top 3D Shop, and in this video, we will talk about the Raise3D RMF500 FDM 3D printer.
The RMF500 is an industrial-grade machine launched by Raise3D at the end of 2021. This device was specially designed for printing with carbon- and glass-fiber enhanced composite filaments, being employed to power small-scale production of functional components up to half a meter in size. Quality hardware of the machine ensures elevated print speed and precision through repeatability.
The name of the device stands for its build volume dimensions, which is a cube with a side of 500 millimeters.
The RMF500 is based on the IDEX kinematics with independent positioning of two extruders along the X-axis. This solution, also used in other Raise3D printers, has a proven track-record of effectively processing two filaments simultaneously. In addition, the IDEX setup can ramp up production time per unit, for example, when printing two identical or mirrored models.
The hardware structure of the 3D printer employs a linear motor-drive with a synchronized closed-loop system, far more precise and faster compared to traditional setups with belts, pulleys, and leadscrews. The positioning accuracy along the X- and Y-axes reaches one micron, while in Z-axis it is nine thousand seven hundred sixty-five ten-millionths of a millimeter.
With a maximum print speed of 300 mm/s and travel speed of up to 1,000 mm/s, the RMF500 can print fast with a layer thickness from 50 to 750 microns.
The print bed platform heats up to 110 ℃, while the maximum hotend temperature reaches 330 ℃.
Raise3D Materials Development Department rolled out a dedicated line of filaments for printing on the RMF500, with three main consumables available today - carbon-filled polyphthalamide and polyamide-12, glass-filled polyphthalamide, and support material that allows being removed without solvents.
Down the line, Raise 3D is going to release carbon-filled filaments based on polyethylene terephthalate and polyphenyl sulfide.
Due to the exposure to highly abrasive filaments, the machine’s extruders are equipped with wear-resistant silicon carbide nozzles.
The RMF500 holds four large, multipurpose filament cartridges, each having a maximum load of 2.5 kg. On top of that, the compartment features pressure and humidity control as well as automatic switching between spools.
To prepare models for printing, Raise3D offers the proprietary ideaMaker slicer. Files can be transferred to the printer’s memory via USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
The printer is controlled with a 13.3-inch touchscreen and carries a webcam for remote monitoring of the printing progress.
