Perfect timing as I’m making this very decision. What I’ve also read and it’s logical is that the other difference is 400kg extra of batteries does effect handling and feel a little on the E-hybrid. However, if you have another sports car so this car will be filling the family car space then the hybrid makes a lot of sense with more advantages than disadvantages. Decision made, including air suspension and PDCC for minimal body roll!
I have the Turbo e-Hybrid Coupe here in australia - travelled almost 4,000 klms in 4 weeks across Australia & absolutely love it. Would strongly suggest the Rear Wheel Steer - Car so versatile for Travel, Parking, U-turns, etc. I charge overnight at home - usually every 2-3 days. Currently averaging 3.4klm/100 klms on e-Hybrid mode - very rare for ICS to kick in around town, including on Freeways. Oh, some reviews claim that the Vehicle handles better with the additional Battery weight, vs a standard ICE model - the extra weight never bothers me once accustomed to it.
Great review gentlemen.. I'm trying for the 2024 Cayenne S E-hybrid. I love the idea of just driving electric through the week and gas/petrol on the weekends
The v8 in S or GTS is good option when u want some sport and comfort in one car, but if u have another sport car its better to chose the e-hybrid because it just more comfortable and better for daily
Just based on the numbers, the V8 is less expensive, has similar performance, is less complicated than a hybrid, you don't have to worry about keeping a battery charged for peak performance, and will probably be more reliable in the long run. Plus nothing sounds like a 8. I'll take the V8 over the 6 everyday.
Hi Steve.. what is your expected delivery date? I ordered the same in January. My delivery date was early July, now it's August 😢. Hopefully the date doesn't get push again
@@rong8889 I was given a very vague delivery date of the end of the year. Not even got a built slot as of yet. I'd love it here before the weather declines.
I have a Panamera 4 ehybrid and did use it a lot in electric mode until the price of electric doubled. Its now actually cheaper to run it on petrol unless I'm stuck in city traffic. My next Panamera will be a hard decision. I like the hybrid but the decision is no longer as straight forward at current electricity prices.
@@CarMadDad I'm also with Octopus. We worked out at the size of our house and usage we would be worse off on the overnight tariff with the Panamera. If I had a full EV that would probably be different. At the moment I charge at work, when I charge. Its free but don't tell the tax man. So to me hybrids no longer stack up unless its relatively light weight (which the Panamera definitely isnt) and used primarily in an urban environment.
Many thanks. I have the S E Hybrid Coupe arriving in June. I considered the S, but owning a 992 911 GTS I already have plenty of performance. So hopefully best of both worlds soon.
I have had my S E Hybrid 2 months now and it has been great. Plenty fats enough, even in E mode. Takes 19 hrs from German domestic plug to charge fully from minimum E level. Air suspension is superb, even on 22 inch wheels it is extremely smooth. Hit 260 kph on the autobhan the other day when it was quiet and dry and it was very relaxed and stable. Oddly I feel.much more nervous at that speed in my 911 GTS. I suspect it is the visibility and impression of speed in the 911 at a much lower height. MPG plummets once you starr booting it and run out of E power. However, it is a much better option, imo, than the V8 for real world driving.
E-Hybrid models are good as far as your battery is charged. As soon as batteries go down, the overall performance of the vehicle becomes less efficient and lazy. Also bear in mind, the battery pack adds in excess of 10% extra weight to the car.
Twice the chance of mechanical failure for a start, then once you get bored of charging, you then just transport a heavy hybrid system around with you! Full EV or just stick with a petrol / diesel. Hybrid vehicles are just for people who want to pretend to save the environment.
Been in the motor trade 30 years, trust me most buy them for tax reasons and the small range with the hybrid is a waist of space! I ran a Mitsubishi Hybrid for 3 weeks, charging every day and drove it like Miss Daisy mpg in the late 30’s, full EV works perfect and less maintenance. Costs 2-4p per mile if you get your electric tariff on an EV rate.
You missed one point having owned the hybrid which is a great car, on long journeys once you have depleted the battery you are operating with 100bhp less!
Yes, so when starting out on long journeys, it’s best to choose the hybrid mode (or sport mode) so you’ll always have the collective power of ICE and E- motors 😉
@@kdcyp You won't because if you do journeys of 2-400 miles like I do the battery will deplete even with regen but you can select e charge to top up the battery whilst moving but then your MPG will drop which defeats the object. I have done 17,000 miles in mine and on long runs you miss the extra push of the 100BHP and the car feels sluggish. The other issue is that if driven mainly on electric Porsche do not advise this as the engine oil can degrade and instead of 20,000 miles between services the need to have an intermediate oil change comes upon you with a cost of £550-600 just for the oil change. I'm changing mine now to a new S Coupe but the eHybrid is still a great car. 😊
@@stephenhinson7410 ok thanks for your extra info based on experience. I thought like a mild hybrid that the battery would always keep a reserve just for heavy acceleration then run on petrol. Fortunately for me I don’t do many long journeys and our Porsche service costs here in Cyprus are more reasonable than UK. However another consideration is that you should ensure you use most of the petrol tank every month or so to avoid todays eco fuel from clogging up the engine so running on elec alone all the time isn’t feasible either. I will use it as a daily driver so should just manage that.
Im currently looking at getting a suv, im looking around 2017 era cayenne. Also looking at other brands as well. I may be tempted by the v8d with air suspension. But also considering the hybrid but am concerned on the battery life and cost of replacing it.and electric isn’t that much cheaper especially if you’re away from home. But am impressed by the v8d for its performance and mpg is good as well. I’ve owned the older gen cayenne witch was awesome but was a turbo.
Ironically the Cayenne GTS is now available since the last week or so and out powers both of these but it’s for the enthusiast - too big of a dog for this fight.
BMW X5 40d is miles better than both of them, chasing top speed in the UK is rather pointless where there are endless traffic lights, congestions and bad road conditions. Ps I have driven both Porsches and the BMW and the BMW felt so much better in many ways but the look (🤢)😂
