I'm really excited to soon, fully dedicate myself to getting the most out of IXL despite reading only bad reviews... Hopefully, it goes my way and I love it, because it looks like it's not for free.
@@platinumpatience5307 The main reason pupils have negative feelings towards IXL is because the way IXL algorithms punish inaccurate answers, especially if one makes a mistake closer to completing an activity - it sets you way back.
I don't hate IXL itself but the way my teacher uses it makes me pretty sad. If we get 90% we get a 100 grade, however, she tends to give a lot but that's not the problem. The problem is that some are very very hard for us and sometimes you can't get to that 90. The way it drops you is kinda harsh but anyways. I have done 200 questions before and not gotten to 90 so it can be draining. I have cried before cause I just couldn't get there. (dramatic I know) (This is to explain to some teachers why perhaps there are hate comments) (Also good video!)
Hello n. o. r. m. a. l, thanks for your extended comment. I do agree with you that very often IXL (as well as many other EdTech tools) are unfortunately misused / abused. I hope that educators will learn to find a balance and use technology to supplement and enhance their instructions and not to replace them. Speaking of grades, IXL is a fantastic tool for formative assessment i.e. it enables teacher to monitor how well students are students doing in real time and help those who seem to be struggling and challenge those who drift through. IXL setbacks are painful - I know. However having you complete IXL with 90% of accuracy is not the only way to you the platform. Good luck!
Hello Sala Alanisi, thanks for your question. IXL might help you with your English grammar, vocabulary, and reading. However, I'm afraid you will need an experienced tutor to make a difference in your writing skills.
Great suggestion! However, I do not think I will be producing any IXL tutorials in the foreseeable future. I am sure there are other tutorials on RUclips that could help you.
We are homestaying in Myanmar, so I need to homeschool my 4 kids, who are in different grades from grade 1 to grade 6. I teach them the key ideas and make sure they understand the them clearly. Then they will take the tests, so these tests won't become so hard for them. That will be easier for them this way, I guess. For motivation purpose, we give them stars( paper made) as a prize, then they can change them with cool toys.
Hello, thanks for your wonderful comment. If you didn't know, the motivational strategy you use to get your kids to learn is called token economy. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your comment. IXL is an effective teaching tool - good luck with it. And yes, it is not free.
@@edtechii No problem. Do you have an idea of why there is so much hate around IXL? Or do people just hate doing their homework...

Why top 5? 10? That crushes kids confidence and thirst for learning. Every kid learns in his own path
Hi Yuri, thanks for leaving a comment. Do you think some healthy competition can be good for learning?
I believe in motivation.

No teachers should make students work with ixl
Sofia Elouazzani Teachers are just plain lazy to teach students
The reason I hate IXL is because it's rather discouraging to students, and it lacks motivation.
Ixl is the worst thing that ever happened to me
