I rarely comment on videos but this is a great video! Concise and informative. I'm buying a half-stack, thank yoU!
The side swinging gate on the Ridgeline made it very easy to attach. It is very well made, clean, firm seams, etc. I like that it is adjustable for the thickness of the tailgate as my Ridgeline's is thinner than most. It would be nice to have a small pocket or two for incidentals. the one downside is that the downtube strap doesn't work on my step through bike, but I can jury rig that so the mount is satisfactorily stable. So far I'm pleased with it.
Does it interfere with the backup camera?
Love it. This might actually work perfectly on a Jeep or other 4x4 with a tire mounted on the tailgate.
Dynamite video
It's looking like this might be the only option for my Ram 1500 with ram boxes and electric powetrax tonneu cover. There's just too much interference otherwise. If I include the rails for the powetrax that protrude past the tailgate, I'm looking at only 44inches of width, so even a small sized pickup one would not fit.
Will this fit the Ford Maverick?
What’s the purpose of the square pads on the inside of the tailgate pad (inside bed of truck)? They don’t seem to protect against anything
they stop lateral movement of the frame
I have a full size Raceface pad but just one bike. With my Kona Rove loaded up, it tends to lean over to the side when the vehicle starts to move. Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? How do I keep my bike from falling to the side and make it stay upright?
These tailgate pads only work well with heavier mountain bikes that have a slacker head angle and a heavy fork. With road or gravel bikes like the Kona Rove, you'll need something to support the back wheel and keep the bike from tilting. Something like the Willworx Super Stand Bicycle Stand.
@@macribas Perfect, that's what I was hoping. Good to know I'm not doing anything wrong. The pad works great with my fat bike. Thanks Marcel!
Does this pad work with a tonneau cover, since there's no padding on top??
I have read, Yes.
Good observation. I know with my cover there is no way I could close it with this installed. The panel wouldn't be flush with the tailgate.
Taillights don’t get obstructed?
Can this be installed on either the left or right side of the tailgate?
No. Left side only. It could be mounted on the right side but for a single bike only.
Cool but not for two bikes. Why in the hell would I want to block my backup cam?

It’s pretty simple to install, but it makes no sense. The padding doesn’t even touch the frame of the bike. There is no padding where the frame contacts the tailgate this is useless.
The pads are not for protection, they are for keeping the two bike frames from touching each other. When installed correctly there is down tube padding with the material folded up under itself as seen in the actual video. Suggest you go rewatch and listen to the instructions again. He clearly outlined the fore-shortenings and how to address them.
@@Gored999 nope the pad is meant to protect the frame of the bike in which case it does not. OK I’ll make a video that you can watch showing exactly what I’m talking about. I just don’t think you really understand what I’m saying. Yakima makes one where there’s padding under the frame.
@@Gored999 it’s flat out a garbage product. It does not protect your bike in any way, but I really don’t care. Go ahead and use it. I am only a 10 year bike mechanic. What do I know?
@@1533willo First of all - why do bike mechanics think they have the right to be rude and throw that fact in peoples' faces? Not all - but many. Second - I have the T2. I've had no issues other than it obstructs my camera, so I would likely get the half stack. The only thing I don't like about the half stack is that it doesn't seem to have extra padding the whole way across on the outside, and that's what I am a bit concerned about. I am curious if anyone has had actual issues with this.
@@seisner1 I say that I am a bike mechanic not to be rude but simply that I tend to understand bikes, probably better than the average bike rider. as I have studied them even done training and courses. Where I am saying there is not sufficient padding is underneath the frame where the head tube and down tube join. If you hit a bad bump it could result in damage to your frame. go ahead and use yours if you think it’s fine. I really don’t care what happens to some random persons bike. I’m just letting you know I sold mine and bought one that has padding in that location as that is the contact point and the most important part to pad. Happy new year!
