I own both PCPs and powder burners, and though I wouldn’t want do be shot by either if forced to choose the choice would always be the airgun of similar caliber. Both will do damage, but the kinetic energy generated by the powder burner and expansion capabilities of its rounds are devastating in comparison.
They're working pretty hard to drive the US in that direction. They keep talking about "assault rifles" but they're starting to sneak single shot flint locks into proposed bills now. In the end, they don't want us to have anything, not a firearm, not a bow and arrow, not a sling shot, not a pellet gun.

Why dont you use lead slugs like a 40 to 50grain hollow point performs penetrates and has. Way more power than a light pellet your using. Use heavy slugs to get the full performance

An air pistol would actually have an advantage in this scenario, due to having almost no recoil, which will allow for faster follow-up shots on target. There is also no muzzle flash, which - should the encounter be at night - means less chance of the one firing the air pistol being blinded by that.
And what about the 99% countries in the world where firearms are virtually non-existent, while ariguns are widely available. What should people use there?
Trust me real gun way worse & no air tamk to refill. Air guns excel at target shooting due to low per round cost & at smaller caliber lower noise & of course cleaner Again for vermin conyrol using lower ca its quiter so good choice for pros doing that as biz disturbs clients, farm animals less

Anything over 495 FPS is considered a firearm in Canada and is illegal.
