Why didn’t God demonstrate his power and stop the Holocaust?

  • On April 30, 2019, there was a shooting in a UNC Charlotte classroom. Two people died and four were injured. The following semester Dr. Frank Turek and Dr. Rice Broocks to reach the hurting students and answer their questions. One student couldn’t see why God demonstrate his power and stop the Holocaust to demonstrate he was God. While no one knows for sure why certain evils befall people (see Luke 13:1-5) or why God chooses to act or not act in certain circumstances, Frank and Rice Broocks point out that God doesn’t want us to merely believe THAT He exists, but to trust IN HIm.

    There’s no point for an atheist to argue why did God not stop an evil event. God stops the evil events in the Old Testament & they complain about it. So whatever God does or does not do, they will complain anyway.

    The real question being asked here is why doesn't God do all the things we want Him to do when we want Him to do them. The simple answer is because He is God and we aren't. And God stopping the Holocaust and everyone seeing it in no way guarantees that anyone would love Him, submit to Him, trust in Him and worship Him. Jesus did His works for all to see and he was falsely accused, beaten and nailed to a cross for it. Never underestimate the depravity of man and our desire to be our own god.

      That's not the point and just shows your ignorance. Personally I wanna believe there is a God I have never seen the "almighty" God intervene so what except a book written by humans do I have to go on? I'm not gonna trust a book made by people as proof. Because just like with this video it shows what people or humans are capable of. Lying and trying to exterminate people for being Jewish. So explain to someone that is on the fence about a God. And "God doesn't want you to believe he is real, he wants you to trust in him" doesn't hold any weight.

      To any in this feed: I would recommend you read the Bible. Study it. I feel often times we want a quick and easy answer. The Bible speaks on the origin of Jewish people. Newer books claim there is neither Jew or Gentile, which is just a fancy name for a non-Jew. God just chose the Jewish people to show the rest of the world who God is. You know God exists because you want to believe in Him. You're just mad, but that's OK. There are books on that very subject. I would read Job and Jonah, and then Mark and Romans. Plenty of evidence exists for the reality of God. RUclips apologetics. Jesus died on a cross because He loves you. But you have to read to understand what that means, (a modern day cross would be the electric chair for example) and maybe talk to Him. Ask Him, if he's really there, to speak to your heart and mind.

      Paul Morgan You ever notice how when there is a king, or champion, or person in a high position, like your manager or boss at your job, that person in the high place is always envied or his position is always wanted by those who aren’t in that high place or just can’t be in that high place, nevertheless, the desire to be in that high place or be like that person in that high place is always abound...?
      In short, every one wants to be like or be where that person in the high place is...
      Let’s bring this into perspective: you don’t often hear others mocking or talking trash about buddha or krishna or allah do you...? No, we don’t really... Why...? Because these false gods aren’t in the high place, they don’t have the high position that IS desired...
      But there is One God Who IS in the high place, the highest of Heavens and that IS the One True Living God Who you just mocked and you can follow your own judgment and continue to mock Him... That is your God given choice... But, I assure you just as sure and He IS alive, on judgment day, your knees will bend and you will bow before Him in terrible fear and you will profess that He IS Lord... (Philippians 2: 10- 11)
      But then, if you wait until then to do it, it will be too late...
      Don’t continue to be like satan and desire the high place, (Isaiah 14: 14- 15), of you will end up in hell, along with him who hell was created for...
      (Matthew 25: 41): “Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire, PREPARED FOR THE DEVIL and his angels...’”
      I pray you repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ...

      Consider that Jesus lived such a remarkable life of great significance that EVERY civilization's advances, legal documents, medical journals, discoveries, reports, research, books, newspapers, awards, monarchy's, political reigns, birth or death certificates, ALL cultures are recorded according to HIS lifetime on this Earth. Our whole, entire world is ordered & documented on history's time line begun over two thousand years ago & counting. The Bible is more than an old book. It's called The Living Word bc it is timeless, relevant & contemporary in it's message & wisdom. The 'proof' you demand is found in what is known as an 'inner witness.' it's not man made it's God inspired & you can't be shown, you find it for yourself. You can start with world history searches.

      Adaptation of individual species to fit their current environment throughout time, I believe in.
      The idea that we all started as single cell organisms that changed into fish, then magically changed into monkeys over time, then once again magically changed into humans over time? That sounds ridiculous. Species don't change over time into other species. They adapt over time into different types of that same species.
      I will never believe that I evolved from a monkey that 3veolvee from something else entirely which crawled out of the ocean millions of years ago as a sea dwelling creature. It's just ludicrous.
      Atheists say God creating people and all creatures, etc is ridiculous because it sounds like some magical fairy tale. He allowed His Son to be beaten, mocked, and executed in an agonising way to bring about His perspective of the future, where there would be a way to redeem sinners who trust in Him. Suffering is not His goal but it is something that happens in this fallen world and sometimes must happen for a necessary course of events to take place.

So from the time of Noah until now, human thoughts are continually towards evil, and the only way to do otherwise is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to take on a mind like His, because we’ll be bombarded with our own sinful/evil thoughts & ways. 🧐

    CS Lewis made an interesting point in Screwtape Letters, and I think it holds consistent with Frank’s views and his explanation of observational perspective. Biblical people were more likely to believe through grand acts of mysticism. And any onlooker/observer/author might explain any unexplainable instance as divine intervention and call it supernatural. And I’m not saying it isn’t. Today, we are more likely to overanalyze, rationalize, etc. anything that we see and dismiss the notion of supernatural intervention. Take the Holocaust - a soldier survives a battle, gun fire, mortar fire, grenades, ears ringing, head pounding, and yet he still hears a whisper to check through the tree line and discover a concentration camp. I call it intervention, some may say he’s checking his surroundings. Biblical peoples might answer with “speak Lord, Your servant is listening,” we might say “what was that?” and walk towards the tree line.

      John 3:16
      Believe and be saved. The first and most obvious bearing of this verse upon our lives is this: believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone and at that moment you will be saved. Accept the free gift of eternal life. Give up trying to be saved on the basis of good works, reformation, commitment, promises, sacraments and the like. Rely solely on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
      Secondly, be sure rest in your eternal life. Take God at His Word. Don't look to your fallible works for assurance. Look to your infallible Savior. As the old gospel hymn says, "Whosoever surely meaneth me." Once we trust in Jesus Christ we have eternal life. We don't get it when we die. We get it when we believe in Him.
      Thirdly, in your personal study of Scripture remember the four words of John 3:16,"whoever believes in Him," Whenever you read in a passage that someone believed in Jesus Christ vou can know that they have eternal salvation.
      I am amazed how many commentators and Bible expositors will take a passage that clearly says that someone believed in Jesus Christ and say that the person didn't really believe. This is commonly done with Luke 8:13; John 2:23; 8:30-31; 12:42: and Acts 8:5,12-13. If the Scriptures say that someone believed in Jesus Christ then they did. Remember, John 3:16 says whoever. Unbelievers do not believe in Christ. Only believers believe.
      Share it. Finally, share the message of John 3:16 with others-with neighbors, coworkers, relatives, schoolmates, and strangers. Tell them the wondrous story. Tell them that whoever means whoever.

    • @ronaller5209

      @Paul Morgan
      Paul saving faith means believing in the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life (cf 1 Tim 1:16). Nothing else is saving faith. Not only is believing for everlasting life enough, it is the only way to have everlasting life. Jesus guarantees everlasting life to all who simply believe in Him for it with no strings attached. DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?
      The salvation obtained by faith plus works is not soteriological entrance into heaven. Rather it is a salvation of "brethren" (regenerate believers) from the temporal, psychological, spiritual, or possible physical consequences (sin unto death) of a non-working faith resulting in a negative assessment at the Judgement seat of Christ. It's imperative not to confuse the "Judgement Seat of Christ" with the "Great White Throne Judgement, the latter is for non-believers and if you believe the first paragraph Paul you have just become a "Child of God" and will surely enter His KIngdom.
      All The Glory to God

    • @ronaller5209
      @ronaller5209 4 года назад

      @Paul Morgan
      Paul
      Salvation is God’s free grace-gift to each believer: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph 2:8-9).[1] Jesus already has paid for it in full. The only requirement for receiving forgiveness and eternal life is to believe in Christ. This is clearly based on Scripture, not on personal experience.
      In about 115 NT passages, the salvation of a sinner is declared to depend only upon believing, and in about 35 passages to depend on faith, which is a synonym for believing.[2]
      Any addition to believing is anathema to God. The divine message is not “believe and pray,” “believe and confess sin,” “believe and be baptized,” “believe and repent,” or “believe and make restitution.” These added requirements have appropriate meanings in the Scriptures, but if they were essential to salvation they would never be omitted from any passage where the way to be saved is stated. (E.g., see Gal 3:22; John 1:12; 3:15-16, 18, 36; 5:24; 6:40, 47; Acts 16:31; Rom 1:16; 3:22-23; 4:24-25; 6:23).
      Salvation is unconditional, meaning it cannot be earned by merit or denied because of demerit. And the moment one believes, this gift includes redemption, reconciliation, forgiveness, regeneration, justification, perfection, and glorification. This work of God is so perfect that it lasts forever (John 5:24; 10:28-29; Rom 8:1).
      Christ offered assurance of this when He said, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). Later He said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:27-28).[3]
      Where there is a lack of assurance there is usually an impression that so long as one’s daily life is imperfect, it is unreasonable to do any more than hope for God’s mercy. No conviction of assurance can grow where the mind is still wondering whether it has really believed in a saving way.
      God saves us in spite of our unworthiness and sins and keeps us saved for all eternity, because of the Cross. His divine provision calls for no payments to be made on the “installment plan.” Believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13; 4:30; 2 Cor 1:22).
      Shalom

      What is the default human condition? (the ‘spiritual state’ of every human being) Condemnation?. John’s Gospel and the book of Revelation declare the Human ‘default’ Spiritual Condition with clarity and sobriety. POSITIVELY, anyone who believes in Jesus, The Christ will NOT PERISH. John 3:18 defines the ‘default’ state with precision - “…he who does not believe in condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” It is nearly impossible to ‘misunderstand’ that declaration of our LORD JESUS in His conversation with Nicodemus. Then in John 5:24-29 another set of declarations are made by our Lord that further inform and clarify the human spiritual condition. 24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth-those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. 30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.”. Of course, Revelation 20 indicates that all of those who are part of the “2ND Resurrection” (which is the Resurrection of ‘CONDEMNATION” of John 5:29) will be raised at the end of time - AFTER the Millennial Kingdom is complete - and will all be sentenced to the LAKE OF FIRE forever and ever - and given ‘differing degrees of judgment’ according to their works as recorded in the “BOOKS” (Revelation 20:11-15). Lake of Fire - THUS the Lake of Fire is the permanent and final disposition of Satan/Lucifer, all the fallen angels/demons, the Beast/Antichrist, the False Prophet, and all UNBELIEVERS of ALL OF THE AGES OF HUMAN HISTORY

      Human works/effort is absolutely WORTHLESS in this regard. There is NO VALUE to human works/effort to pay the penalty for sin. ONLY JESUS THE CHRIST COULD DO THAT. ONLY HE WAS WITHOUT SIN and ONLY HE COULD PAY THE PRICE. And He did just that. To even suggest that there might be some ‘salvific value’ to human effort/works is a tremendous insult to the person and the work of Jesus, the Christ. As Paul argued in Galatians 2:21, “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” Paul’s point is that if man could somehow by ‘working’ achieve his own righteousness, Christ would never have needed to die!!!. AND besides that, the SCRIPTURES TEACH - AMPLY - that there is NO SAVING BENEFIT in HUMAN WORKS. In fact, they are as “filthy rags” if anyone would try to use human works as a basis for eternal salvation.. THAT IS NOT TO SAY WORKS are of NO VALUE/IMPORTANCE WHATSOEVER. They are EXTREMELY important - but they have NO PLACE in gaining Eternal Salvation.

      Why doesn’t God zap us when we sin? God is not in the killing business, He is in the saving business. He is a God of grace, mercy and forgiveness. In Ezekiel 33:11 Say to them: As I live, says the Lord Jehovah, I have no delight in the death of the wicked, except in the turning of the wicked from his way, and so to live. Turn, turn from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel? God doesn’t want anyone to be lost. But when you read Israel’s history you find that they went into idolatry time and time again. God could not save them because they had shut Him out , rejected Jesus their Messiah. So God had to withdraw His protection and allow the curses that they put on themselves when the divorced themselves from the Theocracy when they said at Jesus’ trial: “we have no King but Caesar!” That was a lie because The Messiah was their King. Also they put a curse upon themselves:: “Let His blood be upon us and our children’s children.” John 19:15; Matthew 27:25. You wonder why God does not intervene when we sin? It’s because society has cut Him out of our lives. They have banned him from our schools, our universities, our governments, the media etc . . . But God loves us still and He offers us His Grace. We all have the free choice to accept it or not. God cannot save us if we refused to be saved.

      Jesus was quoting Psalms 22 when he asked "why?"
      Let us understand that in those times, the Hebrew Bible was not divided by chapters or verses. Therefore, when someone wanted a book to be read, the person had to say the first sentence of that particular scroll. That's why Jesus shouted "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" The Jewish audience knew exactly what Psalms He was referring to. And with that, Jesus was telling them that that prophecy was being fulfilled before their eyes.

    "None of us have the answer as to why God didn't intervene."
    I can hardly believe Frank's answer! In Isaiah 10 The Lord brought the evil King of Assyria and his army to punish HIS OWN people (Judah) and "Trample them down like mud in the streets!"
    Why is it so hard to believe that The Lord did the same thing with Hitler in the Holocaust? Isn't that what He said he would do for disobedience in Deuteronomy 28 (especially v 45)?
    The Lord says in Isaiah 10 that Assyria is "The rod of MY anger..." and "a club of MY wrath..."
    and "I (The LORD) send him against a godless nation"
    Then The Lord says that after Assyria has fulfilled HIS (The Lord's) will, He will punish the king of Assyria for doing what he did! WHY?
    Because the King did what he did for his own wicked purpose, not for the Lord's purpose, even though he WAS serving The Lord's sovereign purpose!
    (v 12-16)
    "When the Lord has finished all his work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will say, “I will punish the king of Assyria for the willful pride of his heart and the haughty look in his eyes. For he says:
    “‘By the strength of my hand I have done this,
    and by my wisdom, because I have understanding.
    I removed the boundaries of nations,
    I plundered their treasures;
    like a mighty one I subdued[a] their kings.
    14 As one reaches into a nest,
    so my hand reached for the wealth of the nations;
    as people gather abandoned eggs,
    so I gathered all the countries;
    not one flapped a wing,
    or opened its mouth to chirp.’”
    15 Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it,
    or the saw boast against the one who uses it?
    As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up,
    or a club brandish the one who is not wood!
    16 Therefore, the Lord, the Lord Almighty,
    will send a wasting disease upon his sturdy warriors;
    under his pomp a fire will be kindled
    like a blazing flame."

    Two things come to mind in the first 2 minutes of the video concerning what Frank Turek said. First, a lack of knowledge concerning God's actions, or in many cases, inactions, can't logically be explained away by saying "I am finite he is infinite." That reasoning translates into I'm not going to think about it . And to those who are indecisive concerning an acceptance of God, it doesn't help to give God a free pass. Secondly, Turek said "the reason we know that the Holocaust was immoral is because we know that people are inherently valuable, not because I think people are valuable, but because they are in the likeness of God." Actually people have been seen as inherently valuable since the advent of the human species. That is why meaningless deaths have found condemnation since the caveman.

      Regardless how we died, here is what apostle Paul said in 1 Cor 15:
      19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
      20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
      21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
      22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
      23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
      24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
      25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
      26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
      The reality of mortal life that the world and people all will die (except those ; Math 16:28
      There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom).
      John 3,5
      16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
      24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
      25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
      26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
      27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
      28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
      29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
      This is my faith in Jesus Christ regardless on your opinions.

      Paul Morgan
      The greatest miracle is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and I do believe that.
      That’s the answer why God allows death since the beginning when God allows Adam and Eve partook the fruit of knowledge good and evil.
      This is what God said:
      Genesis 2
      16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
      17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
      Eve repeated to Satan what God said;
      Gen 3
      3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
      The serpent said:
      4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
      5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
      Satan as the great deceiver mixed the truth and the lies, that’s the strategy of any deceiver to trap. Part of the truth is not the truth.
      Here is what God said:
      22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
      God allows the fall based on the free agency, and the fall is not the first failure, but God already knows.
      The very first Blessing and Commandment was given upon the man and women created was :
      28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
      Eve, is wiser than Adam (like most women 😄) it was important to partook the fruit of knowledge of good and evil so men will obtain the blessing.
      After the fall Eve became the mother of all living.
      20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
      Satan, since the beginning is the source of death his main plan is to destroy the role of motherhood, no living things nor mortal life. Because he has no mortal body, no mortality no immortality.
      And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
      15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
      So, don’t let Satan bruise our head with drugs and alcohols.
      Those poisons will lead you to sorrows without knowledge of the real joy.
      That’s Satan strategy to stop all living things and confused the spiritual things.
      9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
      10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
      11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
      12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
      13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
      14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
      1 Cor 2
      I live and walk by faith,
      I have hope in Christ beyond my mortal life.
      Facts, in this life we will have sorrows, but I don’t want to have sorrows without the knowledge of good and evil.
      It’s impossible to live with no problem and avoiding sorrows, but with the knowledge of good and evil, we can overcome sorrows faithfully.

That's a gross over simplification, and is part of the reason I get annoyed with people of faith in debates. Their constant argument is without god nothing means anything and we'd be living in Mad Max's universe. We still have a standard of good without him, the only difference is we make our own meaning and value. You don't always have to look for someone to lead you and tell you exactly how to do everything. People still have meaning, and are still valuable the meaning and value just isn't derived from an outside source.

    It is just not logically consistent to have an omnipotent, omnibenevolent being that allows his creation to suffer in any way, but Dr. Turek knows the best arguments to explain away the logical difficulty. Number one is "free will", the evil comes from bad choices. Of course, a God should be the best salesman ever, and would know how to "sell" us on whatever choice God wanted us to make, so while we would still have free will, we would always make the best choice. (I know that then leads to exactly what "free will" is, but that's for another day.) Number two is God's plan involves the evil for a greater benefit in the future. Seems like poor design for a God that is omnipotent. And number three is we are all sinners (because we don't follow God's commandments, which we had zero say in) and we shouldn't expect to "get away" with our sin just like we wouldn't want a robber to go scot-free. Of course, God could have made us not fight for resources to live (we should have all started in the Garden of Eden and gone from there) but no, we are punished for Adam and Eve's sin. And God's solution, according to Christianity, is temporarily becoming a human, dying a gruesome death, and rising from the dead to "pay" for our sins. Or we could just accept the logical scenario that the Christian God does not exist and we need to find a way to prevent mass shootings and holocausts without appeals to imaginary saviors.
