My in-laws brought Arby’s to Warsaw. They once owned both stores in town.
Funny because I just had Hardee’s today for dinner lol. A lot of these has been closing. We were the only ones inside.
Plot twist: It's the Hardee's you ate at for dinner that closed XD XD (side note, hopefully that doesn't happen, especially if the service/food was good!)

Did you know the last Bennigan's that operated in Indiana, was in Warsaw? It is now closed. Yes like their few others that survive(i.e. Elgin, IL), it was attached to a hotel. Good video, too.
Dude! That was the last of my childhood Kmarts to close.
You were also a few minutes away from where a former Rax Roast Beef location was.

7:28 the gable roof is definitely from a vintage Burger Chef. McDonalds had covered drive thru as well. The Arby's (former Hardees) in Fostoria, OH also has the old Burger Chef gable roof visible on the back side. Hardees and/or Burger Chef remodeled the vintage buildings with a modern design, just simply retaining the older structure and build brand new around it. Indianapolis was where Burger Chef corporate headquarters was location.
If you come back in September on US 30, Wanatah (56 miles west) has a cool Scarecrow Festival that I’ve been to a few times. 😎
I live in Warsaw. I LOVED THIS HARDEES. sadly they were lackluster for the past couple of years, even sadder to hear they closed.
Glad to hear that you had a great trip out to indiana! That Arby's that has the original cowboy hat sign is a gem! I have passed by at a few times, and I believe the lights do work at night. The Rural King was indeed a Kmart!

I remember back in 1979, when I used to travel down to South Hill, Virginia with my granddad and my cousin, once in a while we'd stop off in a Hardee's get a burger and chicken meal. There peach cobbler was pretty good too. Living in New York most of my life, we never had a Hardee's near us, so going to one was a special treat.. I miss that old Hardee's look. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Penguin Point in this area just recently shut down. The old hardee's in Columbia City (between Warsaw and Fort Wayne on 30) was converted to a penguin point and then closed. There were some penguin points in warsaw as well, I'd assume they are closed now too. Cool to see you around my area!
I was so sad when that happened. The Penguin Point in Columbia City was not great, but the one next to Kroger in Warsaw was usually pretty good!

Thanks for stopping by. Yes the Arby's lights work. When Hardee's shut down it was an overnight thing. On the east out of town where the now Runnings store is used to be the original Walmart.
As a former resident of Lake County, Indiana, I can tell you that they don't call it "Scary Gary" for nothing.
On may 14th in Columbia Tennessee they are bringing heart shaped biscuits for mother's day

Great video as always. Warsaw used to be a busy railroad town. It still sees a few trains a day but in its heyday it was really busy on the east-west corner PRR line. US 30 is a good route as is US 6 to the north. I prefer the US highways as the interstates are boring as you said. It was likely a Burger Chef. Most of them in Indiana were. We had two in New Albany that are now closed and one has been demolished. Super catch on that awesome Arby’s sign.

Golden crawl closed back in about 2014 I think. Growdy Automotive bought it and went out of business in Warsaw. Now it's been empty for a year or so.
It wasn't a McDonald's. Years ago the Warsaw Hardes was a Burger Chef. The Rural King indeed was a KMart. Before it was KMart it was Grants.

It used to be a busy one. It was open 24 hours. Truckers would park in the K-Mart parking lot until it was altered.
I haven't tried Hardee's however, we did have Carl's Jr. for a time, but unfortunately, they've since permanently closed their New Jersey locations.

There’s a Hardee’s in Grundy Virginia close to my hometown in pikeville Kentucky the Hardee’s in Grundy Virginia closed and went out of business because of the us 460 and coalfields expressway is expected to be built right through there
I have lived in Warsaw Indiana for about 40 years or so now. I loved Hardee's and the Monster Burger was my favorite. But to the best of my knowledge, this has always been Hardee's and has never been a Mcdonald's.

Gary Indiana, that's a odd one, and dangerous to. A lot of it is dead or dieing, but in a few spots there are signs of new life. Be careful though.

We have an abandoned Myro's Pizza and Bistro which used to be a Hardee's a long time ago in my town of Bryan, Ohio. They might be doing something with it since I noticed the sides of the building now have a fresh coat of paint on the sides.

Oh wow, I didn't realize this Hardee's closed! Thought it was still open, but I didn't realize it had quietly closed. Makes me worried that other locations like Niles, MI, might close.

This was definitely always a Hardee's. An exact copy of the one I used to work at. Looks like they redid the counter area and drink station

On Google 2015 it looks like it was very popular and Southport rd they closed down that one too but that was the nicer one but hard to get in and out of the location Hardee's

@@WallieB26 oh yeah I remember those. That is probably because it is whataburger country in texas. Here in Oregon we sadly don't have whataburger. We do have in n out but my familiy thinks there kinda overrated.

There is still an Arby’s in Laurel Maryland with the original sign but the building has been updated ( for the worst)

that Hardies was open less than a year ago... I ate there in 2023.
I take 30 instead of 80 in Ohio to Illinois. More scenic.

I bet this is one that closed when a owner of 300 Hardee's went fully Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in 2023.

Where i live you dont see many hardees opened or closed down
Where I live, our Hardee's went out of business in 2021 and another closed in 2015

This Hardee's was shit and deserved to close. The last time I went there I waited 20 minutes for chicken tenders that were basically jerky they were so dry.
