Luckily you can ride the old lift at Magic starting next season. I never got to ride it at Stratton thanks to it being closed or on wind hold every day I was there. Snow Bowl was that one lift that was supposed to have been replaced during the Intrawest modernization of Stratton that wasn't. It's the same story as Lowell Thomas at Tremblant.
@@collinparsons3363 I have so many memories of that lift from when I was in 3rd grade. That's why I miss it. I am excited to see it at Magic. Hopefully it retains the cool motor sound.
Surprisingly, the quad didn't go on wind hold all that often. Sure, the towers were higher than they should've been in such an exposed area, but after years of skiing at Stratton, I never noticed it go on wind hold anymore than any other lift. The gondola is the lift there that has major wind issues that they need to fix.
Every day that I went when the old lift was scheduled to run, it went on wind hold. Limited sample size, but it sure seemed like it spent more time on wind hold than actually open.
Cool! I remember seeing it under construction in December! A few trails were closed because of it though
glad the old lift is going to Magic! sad to see the Pohlig go though... I passed by Magic coming back from NH
This just makes me miss the old lift more. It was due for replacement though.

Has the tower number on the lifting frame for Tower 5 been corrected to not be backwards?

What kind of gearbox is in this lift? Whatever it is variations of it seem to have been around for awhile based on the sounds it makes.
