In the first scene is the same thing, She never referred to ambition, she meant being with someone, without that someone nothing she has is enough to replace that void
I felt bad for her in this scene, it wasn't entirely her fault she thought that Barnum felt something for her too, but he didn't and he basically just used her to make his reputation look better.

Even if, let's say, the two of them didn't have sex and their affair was just an emotional one, Barnum in my eyes still cheated on his wife. There was way too much obvious attraction between Barnum and Lind. The scenes during and the song itself, "Never Enough" and the scene where Barnum first met Lind tell me everything I need to know. & If I remember correctly, wasn't there a scene in the movie, it might've been right before this scene, where Barnum told Lind he basically couldn't be with her because he felt guilty and he loved his wife?
