2021 Was a strange one, with about a decades worth of weird and comical moments across 12 months of Motorsport action. From a camera kidnapping, photographers being photographers, the worlds angriest Formula Ford driver, Biker shenanigans, crashing before the race has started, crashing after the race had finished, crashing after you've crashed, crashing into the same person, the worst start Chris Dawes has ever seen, crashing an entire field of Autograss cars, live stream cow appearances, a Star Wars cameo, steering wheel problems, flag throwing, dropping a bike into the biggest hole at Donington Park and various Autograss recovery truck and tractor mishaps. It seemed 2021 had it all...

Oh good lord, you reminded me of the safety car at Mallory. I was at the Elbow and two of us were out on the grass yelling at the drivers to slow down... And then *crump*. Oh well, we tried.
Any of the races I've ever done if you don't stop during a red flag you get taken out of the race entirely
4:57 - those two spent all season doing that to each other, and any time they were not racing they and their families were usually fighting on Facebook.
Maybe they should've got them an incarod instead, where that sort of thing was expected even if it ended up ending the championship as all the promoters involved with it were fed up to the back teeth with them
There's always one championship on every bill that attracts them
@@cdname47 I used to moderate the Incarods FB group, and if they put as much effort into their racing as they did into fighting and swearing at each other on there along with swapping partners about once a month, it would have been the best thing in motorsport. I had to stop in the end because it was infuriating me so much I was getting close to calling them out in the PA commentaries. As for moderating, deleting anything was pointless because the main players would have someone taking screenshots of everything and reposting it.
My man at 2:35 saw no reason to call for yellow - just another day at work, carry on
It's after the accident, no point waving a yellow to the drivers after they've passed the crash, you wave a green to let them know it's clear from that point on.

As a marshal I gotta say it’s pretty lame to throw ur flag at a car. Super uncool
I have done some non timed off road trial marshaling but would love to do race marshaling too, I wouldn't be throwing falgs at cars tho
@@bjarulez I’m in the United States don’t know where ur from. But what they say where I work is as long as ur safe and not a jerk you can absolutely flag. Corner workers and marshals are the best family you can have.
My GoPro went on a similar journey once, wouldn't have minded except if it was left where it was....I would've caught a rollover lol
It is kind of amazing how people can't read the massive 'DONT TOUCH IT, COS I WILL KNOW WHO HAS' stickers that are on the side of the camera. Makes me wonder if I need a flag and some banners with it written on as well.

Some of the Autograss stuff is beautifully funny I imagine you must get a seasons worth of silly stuff at some of the big rounds like BAS with all the races they fit in
You see a years worth of stuff at moat BAS rounds they're by far the best value for money you get anywhere at any car racing event

If you're going own a 4x4 to pull then install some MUD TIRES...Street tires are for street 4x2 vehicles........I laughed so hard seeing that 4x4 attempting to pull a TINY CAR through the mud.....LMAO

15:17 this driver doesn't have the intelligence level to be on a race track. Down right dangerous. They had ample time to get off the track, even after they initially started waving to say they had a problem, but instead decided to stay on the track, then at the last second swerve and park it sideways in the middle!? This is one of the dumbest and dangerous bits of driving I've seen in some time

Mallory, Silverstone, donny all local tracks to me and make regular visits, good to see so much footage from them
I don't think Brits understand that it is easier for them to see the flag at a higher point over the roof of the car and with cation lights around the track

I and I think race control had no idea really for a few minutes. I thought a rider had gone down at the hairpin but I could be wrong. Seemed like 2 guys had seen something that the rest hadn't and it caused all sorts of confusion

Nope, green after the crash to show that the track is clear beyond that point. It would be yellow at the previous marshals post. They cover that sort of thing in the drivers briefings and when they train the marshals.

38:34 - I was at that one, for some reason the Clio pilot thought the race had started when it was only the green flag lap. I think the reason for his confusion, if I remember rightly, was that in race one for the saloons they thought there was going to be a green flag lap and there wasn't one...
Been a lot of that this year at various venues, seems as if covid made a lot of people forget how to run their own meetings
@@PescaraProductions Yeah, I think standard practice with 750mc is no GFL for cars on road tyres, GFL for slicks.
Increasingly green flag laps are not happening, partially to reduce the amount of time between races so that as many races as possible are fitted into the timetable (so that the meeting as a whole does not make a loss), and also because the costs for each championship are based on total track time, including green flag laps and slow down laps plus cleaning up the track. So with budgets getting more and more stretched for both drivers and organisers, less and less green flag laps will happen. A lot will depend on the length of the circuit and where the cars enter on to the track from the assembly area, meaning green flag laps are likely to happen at some circuits but not others, making it very confusing for the drivers and spectators, and the potential for things like this to happen.
