  • Disability is caused by the way society is organised. Gary Evans explores the opportunities for all, and especially makers, in the community to change lives by putting the user at the centre of the design process and by openly sharing their solutions for wider social benefit.
With roots in mechanical engineering, Gary spent his early career in avionics and high- performance optics before enjoying 20 years in the IT industry.
He has been the CEO at DEMAND since 2012, manufacturing bespoke equipment that helps people with disabilities. Gary believes that he has come full circle and is back working in engineering with a real purpose. Having worked for organisations such as Marconi, Toshiba and Lenovo, he is determined to take the best of his commercial knowledge and experience and apply it for the benefit of others.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Inclusion of fringe groups is a 1st world problem. That is a sad fact, but a fact nonetheless.

disability inclusion has been a part of human societies since day one. It's a part of life wherever there is disability.
