This could almost be an episode of The Bill- you can see the influence of producer Michael Ferguson who transferred from Sun Hill to Albert Square in 1990, introducing many characters who would go on to be mainstays (not least the Mitchell brothers). Interesting to see Simon Rouse playing a character almost identical to Jack Meadows in the Bill which he would debut the same year.
Thanks for the upload . This was a great episode ! Eddie was a great character & Grant was quite different when he first started. The start of the Grant & Sharon romance .
Enjoyable work, a healthy income, security. Life could be a hell of a lot worse. I know what you're getting at, about the lack of variety in roles. But it's a good tradeoff for the quality of life it provides.
Stability. Apparently most actors are out of work. It's very competitive and especially in holly weird. So some leave to try and make it and some do make it and others just stay in soap. Phil's been there 30 odd years, Grant left only coming back sometimes, Sharon left a few times and always came back. But the Mitchell's are probably the most successful eastenders families although the Watts, Fowlers and Beales were the original. A bit like the Dingles are the family in emmerdale and maybe the Mcqueens in hollyoaks. Poor Sharon, wonder what it would have been like if Den came back while she was with Grant. It was as good as when they introduced Dennis. Always liked Clyde but his family are so horrible and a bad stereotype of black people. Clyde was cool because he didn't tap dance to please people, he did the right thing. Unlike his annoying mother and his sister was annoying too. Michelle should have stayed with him. She lurched from one failed relationship to another. Sometimes it'd have been cute had Sharon and Grant worker. He really loved her but he just didn't try to change until it was too late. He did the same with Tiffany. But Dennis and Sharon are so 😍 😊 Eddie royle wasn't too bad was he, like Nick Cotton? He was a bit dodgy but not evil

Even the handheld camera work is similar to The Bill.
Deffo giving me bill vibes from the 90-95 era of the bill just random episodic episodes with a few regular characters littered in
He spolit it by the looks of it… wtf … coppers of the east end

Why was eddie royal killed off?
Why would an actor/actress just stay in soaps

It's a steady income that pays more than most jobs out there, and they get to do what they enjoy.
