I have a very similar piano built in 1819 by GIBBS of Camberwell,, I shocked a local tuner by inviting him to tune it to the best he could and when he arrived was shocked at how tall it was ,, The tuning pins all held and the highest was nearly 6 feet for his arm to reach as he also pressed the keys with his other hand. I rescued it in the nick of time many years ago from a furniture dealer who was about the make it into a glazed bookcase and rip all the insides and keys off. I,m glad i was able to save it , It sounds very similar still held the tuning for a number of years , But has nt been tuned since . All keys play even though they have VELLUM hinges from the period still being used in the mechanism.. An amazing thing to own , I love it !!

Hard to believe such a beautiful instrument was around when Beethoven and Schubert were alive

In Beethoven's time, there were many different pianos and piano manufacturing was evolving rapidly.

Un autre video qui émet l'ambiance d'antan, merci.

Beau à voir et à écouter. Si romantique avec les bougies. Les auditrices vont craquer. :-)

A unique sound, very contained and immerging from the peak of the instrument!

What a fantastic sound this instrument has, perfect for some Schumann.

A superb instrument for this music. It is from the early days of Schumann, so less powerful than the instruments of the 1840s. Thanks for watching and commenting

Fantastic sound, full of overtones. Does the instrument have a wooden frame or a metal frame?

Thank you for your encouragement. This piano, like all those of the time, has a wooden frame.
