Baltimore expat here. Great vid, you touched on most of the problems. For me, the most exasperating part of living in Baltimore was being called in for jury duty literally EVERY SINGLE YEAR ! Seriously. The pool of potential jurors is so shallow, if you don't have a criminal record, you can expect to be called in on a yearly basis. Interpret that however you will.
In my experience, if you show up for jury duty wearing an NRA baseball hat and carrying a Bible, you will never get seated on a jury. I wonder why that is...
For the most part, you have said nothing wrong pertaining to Baltimore. However, you just take entirely too long to get your point across. In other words, get to the point without unnecessary talk!
If he was hosext The number I e worst thing about Baltimore is Ben Cardin Who sends billions to Israel every year but can't not find any money to fix the key bridge So the port is closed and traffic on the east coast disrupted Why is Maryland tax money going to a foreign county's war while Maryland bridges are collapsing?.
I've only been through Baltimore, and that was about thirty five years ago. I live in Cleveland but grew up in Buffalo. When I think of Baltimore, the number ONE thing that comes to mind is violent crime. The number two thing is violent crime. Moving anywhere even in close proximity of that city wouldn't even enter my mind. I'm SURE there are nice things about it, in fact probably a lot f them, but the issues they have with crime is enough to make me not even want to visit it at this point.
I've been in Baltimore all of my life and your list is very homest and accurate. The people like myself and you who've been here know what places to stay away from and know how to be aware of our surroundings. This ised to be a fun, vibrant and exciting place to live that's changed over the years. I live in a decent area in northeast Baltimore where there's not a lot of crime ..but i'm not far from the bad areas. I would love to relocate to another city but I don't even know where to start. It's tougher when you have a stable (20 years) job that's based in MD. Unfortunately I would not suggest anyone to move to Baltimore City. There's a lot of change that needs to happen.
I'm a Baltimore City (downtown/Mount Vernon) resident and I also like living here, despite the problems. I generally think you covered the major problems accurately and fairly. I do question where you came up with the strong notion that the homeless population is increasing, as the information I have suggests it has been level or dropping in recent years, and efforts appear under way to relocate homeless campers from problem areas and into hotels. My personal favorite gripe about Baltimore City is the poor quality of the downtown road surfaces. I feel like no matter how much road construction goes on, the roads remain awful.
I lived on E Preston and Mt Vernon in 2018 and I racked up tons of parking tickets and got towed twice within 7 months before the leasing office sold the building and kicked everyone out during Thanksgiving holiday with a broken elevator. Now that Eddies is closed permanently due to staff being held at knifepoint, there's no reason to live in Mt Vernon.
My husband says to mention the high cost of utilities in the city of Baltimore, especially the "outrageous" monthly water bill. He also says to mention the "deplorable" state of the roads and city highways. We've been living in the Patterson Park area since May 2021...and we're still waiting to fall in love with the city.
I lived in Butchers Hill for 2 years and had my car stolen. Our water bill was something like $130 a month. I left the city and never looked back. Happy to commute instead.
Being here a month, from Florida, the weather is lovely (even the hot humid days are nothing on FL, the traffic has been fine (way better than the Tampa area and forget Lauderdale/Miami), the city has great bones and some really nice neighborhoods that are vibrant. There’s a great jazz and old time music scene. Cool history and waterfront access to the Chesapeake, on the NE rail corridor. All cities have their issues. Heck, all places do…I grew up rural and there were abandoned homes and places in town you didn’t go there.
It has the "Catch and Release" and "Criminal's Rights before Victims" problem. And yes I was chosen 1 time 45 years in Philly and 5 times in 15 years for jury duty. The officers at the entry scanners know my name. So sad.
I lived in Baltimore 4 yrs. My job relocated me there, omg I've never seen so much drug activity. I was a cable guy. All over the city druggies are sleeping in the bus stop shed and while you're walking the kids to school u see drug pushers on the corners at 7 am
This has been my go to site for years:www.baltimorepolice.org/crime-stats. This will allow you to drill down block by block to give you the information you need. Thanks so much for watching!
You could be sound asleep in the back of a car and know the exact moment that you've arrived back in Baltimore because of the suspension destroying roads. How did they possibly not make the list?
That’s BS… my girlfriend lives in the hood of west Baltimore and I’ve never had a problem going to see her… I drive a nice truck and wear a gold chain outside my shirt and not a single person has even looked at me wrong
I´m from Germany and even i heard of the crime in Baltimore, but you guys def getting a bad rep somehow because Detroit aside i didn´t know you were only coming in fifth behind NO, Jackson and St. Louis 😂
My issue with Baltimore is that the 'nice' neighborhoods are often a 4-6 block area surrounded by squalor. You can go for a walk/run around the block and around the block and around the block. There is no larger area where you find pride in homeownership that is kept clean and safe that a middle to middle high income person can afford. Also those neighborhoods have very few nicer apartment complexes. You can find a few 1950's-1960's apartment buildings but no amenities like covered parking or really anything extra. And you will still pay more premium pricing than is warranted. But to be fair, I think the general non-pride in ownership and disrespectful littering and such is getting more common everywhere and not just here.
I was born (1973) & raised in Baltimore and there is no fricking way I would move there. I’m always going to have love for the city that I was born & raised in but the Baltimore of 2024 is no where near the Baltimore that I grew up in. Not only is the Inner Harbor pretty much shut down but the Gallery Mall is closed and to top it off the downtown area is infested with feral hood rats who have more right than their victims.
Damn, you hit the bullseye. There are hoodlums that continue to flood our 7 eleven and Royal farm stores. It seems as if they have pitched their tents and are camping out at the establishments. Mayor Scott does not enforce any loitering laws at all!
My brother in law lives in Baltimore by Johns Hopkins hospital. His truck has gotten broken into twice in 2 months time. Hopefully that criminal doesn’t come back before he moves, Cause then we’re gonna have a poor dead criminal on the news
I lived in baltimore back in the 80's. It was bad back then. I've been in the Midwest majority of my life. I initially wanted to relocate to DC but it is way too expensive so im looking at Maryland. Yes Baltimore is on the list. I find beauty in the most ugliest things. I will continue to do my research, visit a few times and most of all pray before i make that move.
I love Marilyn she was a great prosecutor. Brandon is a yes man. I love Baltimore, born and raised. I have been living in Havre de Grace for the last 20 years. If there was a country setting that I could afford in Baltimore, I would go back in a minute.
@LIVINGINBALTIMOREMARYLAND I want to buy a derelict structure right next to John's Hopkins hospital. I'm serious my daughter is a nephrologist. Wolfe, Madison..etc. could you help? I would appreciate it and be reciprocal..cheers
The city has potential but it’s gonna be an uphill battle. Can it be done? I believe it can look at Detroit it was bankrupt and on the on the brink of no return, however they’ve managed to turn it around. Is it perfect? Hell no! You have to start somewhere 🤷🏽♀️
I lived in Baltimore City for 2 years and my car was stolen and totaled. After the Freddy Gray riots in got even worse if you can imagine that. Democrat leadership over the past 40 years has ran the city into the ground and sadly, I don't think it can recover. Now it's spread to the county. I moved to Carroll County earlier this year to escape all of it. I'm in heaven out here.
You thought your latest Democrat mayor would do anything 🤣🤣🤣 You need a hardcore law and order mayor to clean up the city but unfortunately that will never happen.
Wes Moore is too soft and lenient on crime and vagrency. He and other democratic officials has forced me to change my mindset. Its a key reason I will note vote for virtually any democratic candidate in the upcoming elections. Period! People who prefer piece must draw a line in the concrete at sime point before its inevitably too late in the United States. The time is now!
YEAH YEAH..This is my first time to your channel..I been living in B-More city for ..31..years....OOHH MY...WHAT AN ADJUSTMENT...I'M STILL AND WILL NEVER GET USE TO THE WAY THINGS ARE AND THE PEOPLE....RUDE. Morris in every state....IT'S CRAZY....NO BODY CARES ABOUT ANYTHING...LATELY...People just run. Through red lights and stop on green lights...What's wrong with everyone.....UUGGHH...BEGGARS....PEOPLE BEGGING..THEN GET MAD AT YOU CAUSE YOU WONT GIVE THEM ANYTHING.....WHAT THE FUCK....SIGH SIGH..Don't get me started on the drug problem....ZOMBIES......Not just the illegal shit but the LEGAL SHIT TOO...THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME VENT..😅😅😅😅😅😅

Yeah that jury duty reporting is exhausting. I'm over it.
In my experience, if you show up for jury duty wearing an NRA baseball hat and carrying a Bible, you will never get seated on a jury. I wonder why that is...
Putting crime as number 1 on your list proves that you are an honest person.
Thank you sir! The city has work to do, but I still love it and glad to call it home.
For the most part, you have said nothing wrong pertaining to Baltimore. However, you just take entirely too long to get your point across. In other words, get to the point without unnecessary talk!

Good info for anyone moving to Baltimore City .
Tiffany, thanks so much. What was most helpful?

BGE bills are outrageous.

The beltway is and always has been a slowly moving parking lot. Now that the Key Bridge is down it is even harder to get around and through the City.
I moved to Baltimore in 1999 and there was construction on 695 and there still is 25 years later. It's a joke.
I lived in Baltimore 4 yrs. My job relocated me there, omg I've never seen so much drug activity. I was a cable guy. All over the city druggies are sleeping in the bus stop shed and while you're walking the kids to school u see drug pushers on the corners at 7 am
This was a good honest video. I will reach out soon.
The metro goes east to west/ west to east.
Which websites do you recommend to look up crime information for Baltimore? Sites that are current and have the most information.

Don't go into West Baltimore unless you're packing.Otherwise you might not come out
Facts.

Well said. Can confirm.

Great video. Looking to make a trip next year for investment. Would you reccomend buying in downtown Baltimore?
Very honest video. If you are single without kids and have a good job, there are some okay areas. I would not recommend the City for a family.
How can you be from Baltimore and still say the T??
Has a majority minority city you know the problems are in the one parent household epidemic that is baltimore city
The roads are atrocious. Expect to replace all four tires at least once a year.
You know youre from MD when you change how you say bmore everytime. Sometimes is balmore, sometimes its baldymore, baltimore, etc 🤣
could not pay me enough to move to a city place like that lmfao

Baltimore is about to turn around like D.C. did in the early 2000's, buy now and reap the great equity later.
This is the most cope I've seen all day. Baltimore making a comeback hahahah. Good one.
Stop tripping Jack!
I love Marilyn she was a great prosecutor. Brandon is a yes man. I love Baltimore, born and raised. I have been living in Havre de Grace for the last 20 years. If there was a country setting that I could afford in Baltimore, I would go back in a minute.
Homeless tent folks is a national problem at this point. In WA state even in small towns its becoming an issue.
Top notch video. Very good presenter!
Thank you sir!
@LIVINGINBALTIMOREMARYLAND I want to buy a derelict structure right next to John's Hopkins hospital. I'm serious my daughter is a nephrologist. Wolfe, Madison..etc. could you help? I would appreciate it and be reciprocal..cheers
My plan is to secure it and rebuild. Washington etc
Baltimore is a dumpster fire. Crime is out of control no matter where you go that city is horrible.
rip casualties of Key Bridge collapse 26.03.2024
You been to central booking? Lol
The city has potential but it’s gonna be an uphill battle. Can it be done? I believe it can look at Detroit it was bankrupt and on the on the brink of no return, however they’ve managed to turn it around. Is it perfect? Hell no! You have to start somewhere 🤷🏽♀️

People actually move to Baltimore? 😂 🤦🏻♂️
You should too!
Great question. I live here and would like to know 😂
Everyday. Baltimore isn't as bad as people make it seem.
People just don't.... plenty of other great ☺️ places to move!! Dont want to come here!!
After everything you’ve said, who in their right mind would want to move here? Thanks for doing such a great job in “selling” Baltimore! 🙄 lol
Don’t move to Maryland period. It’s to expensive and to Liberal
Crime is real!!!
Nobody told me the bridges collapse
I lived in Baltimore City for 2 years and my car was stolen and totaled. After the Freddy Gray riots in got even worse if you can imagine that. I just left bmore few weeks ago and I couldn’t say it any better
Crime Is Rising In Baltimore City and not good for family structures
Thank you for your perspective on things, I really appreciate you sharing.
It’s not called “murdermore” it’s called “bodymore”
Maybe you should move out of town. We’d be happy to help you find a new place.
Remember Leakin Park ?
You thought your latest Democrat mayor would do anything 🤣🤣🤣 You need a hardcore law and order mayor to clean up the city but unfortunately that will never happen.
