Another great review Harry - enjoy your TY content immensely. Super to see the new French coming along amidst a wider NATO launch. Do you have any idea where BF will go next with TY, or indeed their plans for 2024? Hope you’re recovering from that chest infection and get well soon!
Thanks Tom. Not sure what BF have planned for 2024 and beyond yet. Maybe Checkpoint Charlie? I’m sure Pete from Battlefront will do his Christmas Message video soon.
i was eagerly awaiting this video from you :) hope you get well soon. keep up the good work. i love the french army and i already have a considerable force and i am going to grow it even further :) i am probably going to use the VAB formation alot with integrated leclairs. and then the rest of my point will be VBL and gazelles + some rolands maybe. i think this will be my way to go
“Illumination Squadron” is the term Battlefront used for the unit, so I stuck with it. I searched the term and got a sense of “shining a light” on things, sort of like Discovery Squadron, so I assumed it meant scouting or recce.
Odd how Battletech manages to give us unit cards, no limited time packs, all unit stats are available for free online, you can even create an army list for free online. So less and less reasons to get involved with BF's limited time box sets and resin/metal kits.
Hey Subs. I can see BF's point for most of this, but I understand your point of view. Personally, I'm OK with paying for the online builder lists. It's a good tool and there is a cost to build and maintain it. But as you point out, not all games choose to pass that cost on to the consumer. The limited run army deals are an attempt to keep the sheer number of boxes manageable for retailers. But it seems the value of these has eroded over time. They used to be a significant saving over buying the parts individually. This gap has narrowed, as I think the Restless Kaiser has mentioned too. But while I love plastic, I can definitely see why BF's range still has resin and metal. The cost of tooling plastic means the choice isn't plastic or resin for these less popular items. It's resin or nothing. The cost of plastic tooling just doesn't add up.
Another great review and no truer words have ever been spoken in regards to miniature war gaming "and now all you have to do is remember how you painted your infantry" 😂 amen
The struggle is real... I have has this issue a number of times. I now make videos to have something to refer back to! But people have also suggested a painting diary for each unit - just some basic colour notes.
Great as always Harry! Most of the French stuff arrived at my house last week for my son. I can hardly wait to see it on the table.
Look forward to seeing it on a table sometime!
Get well soon Harry, I Hope you are back to 100% soon.
Thanks you. I'm sure I'm on the mend.

Thanks for the overview. Get well soon Harry.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Sounds like a sensible approach. You’ll get benefits from both the high and low end of the new release products!
Great review and some great looking models. Hope your feeling better soon :)
Thanks Aled. I look forward to a functioning respiratory system at some future point as well!
interestingly, the one click VAB bundle and the Leclerc Army box (if you build 6 AUF1s) is 100 points of VAB formation
I hadn't realised that. Good point.
The "Illumination" squadron, as you call it, can also be translated as a "clarification" squadron, which makes a bit more sense. 😄

@@FogofWar The term in Danish is similar, meaning "clearing up" as with weather, which is also a meaning that éclairage can take IIRC.
I have some French on order for a new army I like the leclerc but will likely try and build an AMX-10RC company
The AMX-10 RC looks like fun! I hope it goes well for you.

What's wrong with resin kits in this case?

Good on ya
