Important note for people watching this video much later than the original release, the Chinese set called "Liberation" has been rebranded as "Clash of Steel" and is available in most western countries.
Yea this is pretty outdated now lol, but I don’t believe the contents of the Berlin themed clash of steel completely line up with the asian specific release Liberation, quite similar though if I recall correctly.
This is so cool. I just got drawn into WWIII Team Yankee... and now I'm poised to get back into FoW too. I haven't played since v2. I'm not much for resin and pewter though... but I see that they now have all the plastic I could want! Plastic tanks are my happy place. Nobody around here plays anymore, but maybe I can start a trend.
It can be a Ton of fun! And lends itself well to both recreating movie moments as much as replicating history. I hope this video helps you along when you decide to jump in!
Clash of steel is nice to start, but you get a few tanks you won't use in bigger quantities because of their costs in FoW. If you like the bigger starter sets, you could also buy them 2 times, then you can built every version of every tank AND you have more than your 100 pints for a complete army.
Yea we have only used the Jagdtiger like.... maybe twice since we got it? Its often just to pricey to field, and honestly the level of AT and armour it has is just absurd, a couple Hornise can do the job just as well without attracting fire as much lol. Great point on doubling up on the starters though, I am working on an updated version of this video and will be sure to mention that as a tactic for quick collections!
The Stalingrad box is what got me into this ("thanks" Josh) and then... well you know me. I have a problem. (Also, 10 points to Hufflepuff for proper pronunciation of "Stug")
Indeed that is an option still in some places! Though I opted not to mention it as I believe it is no longer in production as its listed as no longer available on the flames of war website : )
So I noted there were no comments on the early war kits. That because this was being marketed to Americans? There is still a range of nations to game, from Britain France, Germany, USSR, Poland, Finland or even the Japanese who fought with the USSR as well as China.
Im not entirely sure what you mean? My video covered all the starter set options at the time of its recording back in Feb of 2022. At that time there was no early warning starters (I dont think any have come out as yet?) and I do discuss the brits, reds and germans? Could you please clarify what your asking?
Thanks! Have to figure out the best way to do an update for the new boxes still.. As for your military geek comment you are correct I believe, however the box labelled hit the beach is more a generic Normandy themed starter, then a straight D-day one : )
Yes and no. The Americans definitely *had* 76mm Shermans by D-Day. They just left them in England for the first few days. They were brought in on later waves and were on-hand in numbers for the Operation Cobra breakout.
Lol maybe next week, just putting this together took me a little over six hours today! But thanks! Really hope it helps som folk figure out where to start and clear up any confusion the era system has : )
@@LackofForesightGaming Was the Chinese set ever available in Canada? I've seen it before. Wish it was more readily available. The two new Mid War Starters look fantastic! Appreciate you putting this together.
I sadly have not seen it in Canada no, only on Blitzmini’s store. Id love to get it someday but as I already own enough of most of the set its not been high on my personal want list. And indeed the two new north africa starters look Amazing! Def want to grab them both to add to our Sicily campaign! Most welcome mate : ) feel free to share it around to anyone or anywhere you think it would be helpful!
It is unfortunate as I felt the same way when I first saw it lol. But the newest Clash of Steel set has a decent amount of similar stuff I believe so may be worth checking out! Which reminds me that I really need to update this vid
Thanks for the suggestion! While Battlegroup definitely has some pro's to it, the additional complexity of the rules, lack of availability in our area, and some of the list building unfortunately didn't sell us on it. We are very happy to continue using the Flames of War system and it can be quite historically representative with a minimal amount of work : )

Never a bad time to return to the game : ) Especially with all the new plastic stuff lately aye! Hope you enjoy!
Awesome. Appreciate you making this video. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Glad to hear it! Might be a bit before my next one in this series but hopefully not to long!
That liberation Kit sounds very cool
Indeed! Its a great looking collection of models for the eastern front. Haven’t been able to order it yet though ourselves lol
This is a game I've been eyeing for quite a while.

Lol! Problem? There be no problems here!
And half the time I have to stop myself from saying it like that as it confuses some people lol
For Mid War there is also El Alamein box set

I’m considering the game. Great vid.
Thanks! Hoping to make an updated version by end of summer! Hope you enjoy the game!
Excellent work I enjoy watching.
Hello my friend! Hope you are doing well!! Thank you for watching and commenting! I hope you will find it of some use : )
Great video! Thanks for sharing this.
My pleasure, thanks for watching!

Been so long I have no idea what all I said in this video lol, are you correcting my pronunciation or commenting on what you want to see, sorry.
This is a great video well done man!
Thanks mate!
Nice primer. Well done.
Thank you mate!
Great video. Military geek comment. The Americans didn’t have 76nn Sherman’s at D Day - I think

That Kasserine set looks good!
Indeed, its an excellent price for what you get

Anyone know when the release date of the two new starter set is?
I believe they are set to release this month alongside the compilation book. Exact date im not 100% sure on though
@@LackofForesightGaming ok, thanks man!
Check out Battlegroup. Great game system and way more historical.

Cha'alt!
very sorry, what does Cha'alt mean?
@@LackofForesightGaming It's from the ancient tongue. Cha'alt means to achieve greatness through suffering.
