That's just sad. I've seen a lot of people commenting how they thought the dog was gonna be dead, then a few thinking she overreacted.
If the parents couldnt afford a dog, they could've just talked to her, she's 15 not 5, she would actually get it if they sat her down and explained why they can't financially afford and care for a dog. Parents might think this was a funny prank and it might've been if they were going to surprise her with real dog after. This was just mean, putting holes in the box to make her think whatever was inside was alive, knowing she wanted a dog. It's just cruel to purposely mess with her emotions like that. She's at the age between child and adult, just cuz she has a better mentality than a young child doesn't mean she won't still react like a child at times if pushed to it, so I don't think she overreacted, she just reacted how a disappointed girl would've reacted in that moment.

No, just no. They could've been real with her- she's 15, not 5- she would actually get it if they sat her down and explained why they can't financially afford and care for a dog. This wasn't the next best thing, esp putting holes in the box to make her think whatever was inside was alive, that's just cruel to purposely mess with her emotions like that. She's at the age between child and adult, just cuz she has a better mentality than a young child doesn't mean she won't still react like a child at times if pushed to it, she didn't react terribly, she reacted how a disappointed girl would've reacted in that moment.
