Not that this is a necessity but try and find a nicerish pen (don't get to obsessive like I did). It really helps to make the notetaking process a lot easier.

Thx so much I am actually in my school break and I'm a very organized person who doesn't stand the mess and of course I'm really bad at taking notes and that's because I really like taking a lot of notes and decorating and oficourse my teacher won't wait for me to finish so 8t looks really bad and it drives me mad but know that I got you're advice and I practiced and I hope I stay determined enough

Another helpful tip I've found is to take notes from your book in one color and then when listening to the lecture in class, take notes on the same pages and add in that stuff with another color so you don't keep re-writing the same things!
