    Mullvad got raided by Swedish police and they left empty handed. Their vpn is the only one I trust.

    Nice video! I quite like it. I have Firefox, Mullvad Browser, and Whonix with the Tor Browser installed for different purposes, and it makes it easy to have a tool available regardless of what I want to do.
    A couple small points though, the Mullvad extension actually still needs your VPN to be enabled on the system, it just uses it to create a (socks5?) proxy. I also think it’ll actually tell websites you’re using Windows regardless of your OS.

    Is Mullvad a privacy browser? Installed it and went to the world clock web page, and it drilled down to my exact location. Normally, it thinks I am in a different town until I enter my exact location on sites like that. It seems to be reading cookies from other browsers.

    I’ve recently started using mullvad browser after using their VPN for around a year. No issues so far and I have quite a collection of Linux ISO’s.

    You can't claim you make privacy more usable when you ship the browser with an antiquated engine 102 ESR. Yes it receives security updates but that is all it receives, no actual up to date Firefox features like we have in Firefox 117.

    That reset functionality maybe useful, especially if you're wanting to switch between different accounts on the same website!
    I'm not sure about the page sizing thing though, as I like to make things larger for accessibility reasons.

    I do know you are not a fan, because Chromium-based, but I fell in love with Brave. For example, on RUclips my 'home page' (if you like) is the screen of Recommendations. I ran Brave, with absolutely no tweaks or settings changed, and the top left vid, which was *always* an advert, was gone, and never came back. I obvs then read up about their alleged telemetry and all of that was off by default. Couple of clicks to get rid of the laughable crypt-crap and other nonsense on the front page and we're good. And I can't really fault their own search engine either.

    Using Waterfox for a couple of weeks with no loss of convenience in comparison to Firefox. Of course Waterfox does not provide the same level of privacy than Mullvard does, I assume....

    Mullvad is just a fine replacement.

      thats cause its a "new" browser lmao it hasn't had a chance to be bloated yet, but like everything else i imagine if you know how to go in the system settings and backend settings you might could turn some of that off not sure though

    Why not just segregate cookies by site (ie, domain) by default? This won't prevent tracking scripts in same origin, but at least should prevent arbitrary tracking cross origin. Also, the default should be wiping data after session end, and user can manually add any site to persistent data list.

    • @nullvoid3545
      @nullvoid3545 8 месяцев назад

      This is the "no 3rd party cookies" option firefox gives you in its own settings.
      the problem, is that tracking users on the internet has become A complex and hard to avoid combination of several different methods, so this browser addresses as many of them as it possibly can.
      I honestly think having more aggressive "adblock" scripts that remove or even spoof only some cookies and only some javascript based on your own needs from A site would be A great idea!
      Like A way to borrow others noscript configs in real time, or A more communally driven Privacy Badger!

    I installed this on one of my linux machines. Vivaldi stable has broken on all 3 of them (3 different distros) I've had to install the vivaldi snapshot. I need a second browser so I guess It'll be Mullvad in the event that the vivaldi stable package isn't updated/fixed. 🤷

    some of this sounds to good to be true, as in grouping everyone in 1 blob, kinda sounds like windows, everyones basically on the same system but we all know that windows isn't safe to use from hackers so just a thought.

    • @helgi2925
      @helgi2925 Год назад +2

      Totally wrong comparison. First of all, Windows installations are never identical. Secondly, the point of identical Mullvad settings is to create indistinguishable clones. It's as if all the thieves in the world had the same fingerprints.

    I have two good reasons why I trust Mullvad more than other VPN providers. The first is that they not only take Monero, but will also literally take cash payments. If you want to be totally anonymous with Mullvad, you can. The second is that they were raided just a few months ago by the European fedbois, and the feds walked away empty handed. ZERO user data was collected because there was zero user data to collect. Sure, other providers SAY they don't keep logs. But if that were true, then it shouldn't have been such a big deal when we all learned that Mullvad does not, as a matter of fact, keep logs.

    www.theverge.com/2023/4/21/23692580/mullvad-vpn-raid-sweden-police
    Edit: I see your point. Yes, they are a company, so we need to keep that in mind. I'm not saying I give them my full, unwavering trust. But I'm comfortable saying that I trust them significantly more than their competitors.
