      What a lovely comment. Means a lot, thank you.
      The outdoor life is great, even better when it’s sunny 😀
      Simple things like pulling up somewhere, sitting watching the sunset with a coffee. Going out and getting wet and muddy, knowing you can come back to a warm van, get food and drink and not worry about getting your nice car dirty and not having room to do things in it.
      Give the guys a call, they are really friendly and certainly know their vans

    After 40 years of campervaning and having owned many different vans from brand new to basic cheap self conversions of all different layouts its clear to me why the traditional side conversion has been omnipresent for decades, it just works particularly in the UK and Europe.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  5 месяцев назад

      It does work, for many and will continue to do so, it more and more are turning to the multipurpose layout like this.

    Hey, it's great to see a review of Slidpod. I got my van converted by them in early 2020 but mine was the rib bed pod and I've been using it ever since. It's a brilliantly built piece of kit and it still looks brand new. I even toured Scotland in the van for two weeks and cooked on the Slidpod the whole time, no matter what the weather was like. Now that we have two kids, it's still perfect for day use and holidays in the van.🤟

      It’s definitely worth having if space allows. That said, it’s dependent on the buyer. If someone is only ever going to stay on serviced sites, then it’s not as important

    I think that the best combo is a 4 berth fixed bed caravan and a campervan with a tow bar on it.
    The most flexible combination of any camper set up.

    • @StaycationLifestyle

    Always like seeing alternatives to the classic cramped R&R bed and side kitchen layout, don't want to be cooking smelly, spattery food inside the van! I'm liking the Flatout camper beds at the moment, have seen them paired with a slim passenger side unit for storage and fridge which would work well in a kombi. Bed flips up out of the way so loads of room for bikes or whatever else you want to carry.

    • @StaycationLifestyle

    • @_bav

      @@StaycationLifestyle It's a Fohen Furnas system with a carbon & phosphate filter.
      The tap drain meant we had no use for a sink and we also forewent a gas hob in favour of a portable induction hob, leaving a much larger worktop for food prep.

    Sorry but i dont know your name but i will say hello anyway, i have a van haven built swamper kombi camper and for the last 2 years and 25,000 miles its been fantastic. I have had van haven heavily modify the van ,swivel seats seat electric ,
    Solar panels, fiamma 45s awning and so on .we have a Forty Winks full width bed and its brilliant its so comfortable but we are now looking to make more of the interior space, a sliding seating bench seat that folds to make a bed ,plus slimline cabinets with double burner and sink ,i still want to use both the swivel front seats so i want part of the front cabinet to be floating so i can swing my legs under it . Still thinking about the pop top as van haven do a extremely low height carbon fibre pop top. This could be my next option. Just need to get my next Ireland trip out of the way then get the van back into van haven for more upgrades 🤟

      Hi Shane, I’m Steve.

      Are Van Haven going to do the camper conversion?

    • @lovevans911
      @lovevans911 6 месяцев назад

      Sounds expensive. Get a proper “camper” converter to do camper aspect who are qualified. That’s a lot of money to go up in smoke if something goes wrong

      Hi steve great to chat to you ,yes Van Haven are now building camper vans ,we are going to van haven in just over 3 weeks time to have a discussion about what we can do to our interior of our kombi, its been great but I want know to give it a bit more of a camper feel. Looking forward to bumping into you at a show at some point. Van haven will be having an open day in the not so distant future when they open their new premises. Might be worth a call to find out when it is and pop down and shoot a separate video keep up the great work love your videos 🤟

    Excellent campsite you were on there at Harford Bridge will be going back some point this year we stayed last year always loved Dartmoor . Good alternative that pod for Kombi users though we are traditional layout camper but if I had a choice again I would go U shaped layout.

  • @steveyJet
    @steveyJet 6 месяцев назад +1

    How do you easily get to the storage space behind the slide pod if it’s a Kombi set up? We currently have a Kombi with a forty-winks type bed set up with all the useable space underneath with a pop-top, wind out awning and a drive away awning and cook outside using existing camping gear. Works well enough for us, but have considered some sort of slide out unit.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  6 месяцев назад

      Get to it easiest from the sliding doors. Drop the seat and access that way.
      It’s another option, they won’t suit everyone. Some don’t like awnings, but I my kids love it

      Components alone will be more than 1k. You could perhaps buy the bed, without anything else for 1k, like other brands systems.
      Other brands with similar products have similar prices.
      It may seem a lot, but there is a lot going on. You see the pod, but there is all the rail system, aluminium supports, electrics, gas, pumps, fixings/ hardware and the phenolic ply itself which isn’t cheap.

    What a stupid idea, so you cook outside for the family in the pissing rain and pass the food through, when finished you have to get more wet walking round to get back into the camper, you may as well get a tent you'll have more protection.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  6 месяцев назад

      Totally understand your point, but many will disagree, as this and other similar setups sell very well.
      A simple tailgate awning/porch can provide shelter and a sleeping/storage area.
