8:20 I think the people that struggle with the shower-head conversation are those that don't know how to discuss sex/sexuality objectively without sexualizing the person they are speaking to. That is an important distinction. For what it's worth, Cheyenne has two kids, is married, and those of us who've been around long enough know Papa Floyd was present for the first delivery. So there's no secret that sex is happening in her life, like most adult humans 😂. It's normal. If you guys are up for it, I would encourage you to not shy away from this conversation because it can be a teachable moment. Clearly some listeners could use some understanding that objective discourse about sex doesn't require those in conversation to sexualize or objectify each other. It's not like y'all were exchanging graphic details of y'all's personal bedroom escapades 😅. I don't have that openness with my parents yet but I think it's dope and healthy. I challenge you both to challenge your audience and don't shy away from addressing the differing perspectives.
Papa Floyd and Chey… when it comes to the “shower head conversation” I also think that when you are a father to only daughters you end up creating a bond and a comfortability where you let down a wall to enable them to come to you about anything. I experience this same comfortability with my own father who is a girl dad also. I can have any kind of conversation with him and know that he is going to be open to where ever it goes no matter the subject
I totally agree with this !. It's a different dynamic when it's a girl dad. They need to know dad is a safe space so I do think it's easier for men to break that wall down, not having boys
I did NOT have an issue with the shower 🚿 head conversation. I actually LOVE the fact that NOTHING is off limits!!! We NEED more relationships like this between parents & their children 🙏🙏❤️❤️
Mr. Floyd, we’re here for your knowledge. I didn’t even notice the “technical difficulties “. People in the comments are paying attention to the wrong things. But I love that you take constructive criticism and I feel like Cheyenne is the same way. I love this podcast!
Not to beat a dead horse but I was raised with my dad which is tough when you are a girl. Some conversations are hard to have with your dad as a girl, but I definitely appreciated how open my dad was. We were able to discuss any and everything. So I definitely agree creating that safe space for your kids to come to you is a must especially with the times we live in. I know that back then and even now I can call my dad for anything no judgment. ❤❤ appreciate your honesty and love your podcast.
I love the father- daughter relationship that you have. I wish I had this kind of relationship with my parents. I can relate to that young lady's story. I actually got choked up because I have been through some similar things as her. My advice is to not be afraid to cut family out of your life, especially if they are toxic to you. I cut my Dad out of life, and yes it was hard but it was for the best. I know life is short and it may be hard for some to relate but life is also too short to surround yourself with toxic people too. At the end of the day you have to do what is best for and do what makes YOU happy. I wish her the best of luck!
We had 2 kids a boy & a girl our son was 10yrs old when he passed away in my arms 😭😩😩💔 at home from cancer osteosarcoma and our daughter was 9 yrs old ❤️ when she was in high school 10th grade I told her if you are out with your friends and for some reason you don’t want to get back in the car with them call me and I will go and pick you up ❤️ and she called quite often and I had no problem doing it but when I would get to the destination her friends would come to my car and ask if I can take them home we’ll I asked “why don’t you call your mom or dad to come get you “?? There answer “THEY WILL GET PISSED OFF”. Hmmmm 🤔 I then said your parents have not lost a child and they are not listening to you tell them that you do not want to get in there (friends) car ! Well they told me the parents said “ well then you figure out how you are getting home !!!! That disgusted me and I took them home ! Papa Floyd my mother did not speak English (but she knew bad words in English 🤣) and she always told me “make your own money$ even if you are married make your own money 💰 that way if you want to BUY something YOU DON’T HAVE TO ASK FOR PERMISSION “ ❤️ of course she was right and she was so happy when I got a job with USPS 🎊🎉
I wish I had family like yours especially since I’m sick and disabled. I wish my mom had me ordering for myself. I still get real nervous at restaurants; anxiety. He right about fighting bullies, but not crack them in the head. You don’t want legal problems; it happens to my cousin.
The ending conversation had me in complete tears. I agree that accountability will be nice, but she also had to be expect not to get it and be ok with that. Therapy is a very good option for her !! I pray and hope things turn out better for her ❤
I just wanted to mention for those who may want therapy, but dont have insurance ,or under insured. I live in a small town. When I was much younger I went to our community mental health center and You can pay on a sliding scale. So if you may $100 a week, you pay them $5 a session (just as an example). Dont not seek treatment because of insurance if u have a community health clinic.
I agree wow some people just need to get a grip & stop it if they don't like the conversations that are happening here they need to dismiss themselves & keep there bs to themselves it is always something that people want to complain about & I think it is so unnecessary me personally I am happy that you have that type of relationship with your parents unlike me I can't talk to them about anything with out being let down or put in a position I am not comfortable with & that hurts my parents are not ones I could ever talk about my situations with @ any point in time weather I was a kid or now as a adult I just can't have I tried yes just don't work so I leave all that alone #keepbeingreal&don'tletthebsgettoyou 🤗🙏🏼😁 so with that being said keep the uncomfortable conversations coming b/c I am here for it
Papa Floyd, I do the same when people try to cut my daughter. I tell her she needs to stand up for herself too. My daughter is so shy so won’t order her own food but I think I’m going to try it. My daughter needs to work on her confidence but I also think some of it is personality because she is given praise at home constantly.
Some of us aren't dealt great cards in life. This girl's parents are not the best, but maybe she has other areas in her life that are thriving. I would tell her to accept her life as is ( a lot of us should) and move forward from there. If it's best for her to continue nursing and move out that is what she should do. She can forgive her parents for her own mental health, but the focus should be on uprooting her own life. Every1's focus in life should be improving their life. That is the only way, from my own experience.
I love how open you and your family are. That is what I strive to be for my daughter. God intervened and saved you because that is so scary. We are all so naive in college which is why I will have a similar policy to say just tell me. You won’t be in trouble just get home safe.
ALSO, I don't understand why people are against the shower head talk. Masturbation should not be frowned upon. It's important to have a healthy sexual relationship with yourself in order to have a healthy sexual relationship with your spouse. That woman was definitely dealt a bad hand. Sometimes you have to let your parents go as much as it hurts or love them from a distance.

I'm sorry, but yall are fun and hilarious! I love to see a dad and daughter relationship. I didn't meet my dad until I was 40, so I think it's cool.
Therapy for the win! We definitely need therapy in order to heal.

Teachers are overworked and paid wayyyyyyy less than nursing. Stick to nursing! At least you’ll get paid well!
