It still kills my heart that Gene Anthony Ray.burned out so quickly. Phenomenally Gifted Dancer w Raw Talent and Sacred Fire!! 0ur companies were scheduled to meet in Philly under special invite of Authur Hall of Ile Ife. Id heard of him "Disrespecting His Gift w fights in nightclubs and passing out from binges and binders from "substances" and then being fired from FAME eventually.. He worked to snag the lead in the film and tv series and let demons in his head and negative influences around break him!!! Any Bad Habit or Influence troubling him I wanted to tell him to TAKE IT TO THE MASTERS OF MOVEMENT .THE TRINITY.. A.A.A. Authur Hall of Authur Halls Afro American Dance Ensemble Alvin Ailey of Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and Authur Mitchell of The Dance Theater of Harlem .ANYTHING he was going thru They could have walked him thru and maybe helped save his life. Its the obligation of the Elders to Mentor and advise and the Younger to listen and apply what is being offered.!! As a young Black Male Dancer in an often unwelcoming but exciting field he needed to know he wasnt by himself. That was my message to him. Rest in Peace and Love Good Brother. XORONN ROSS💛🔥✊💥👊🙏🤝

Was minding my own business one day about 23 years ago and my doorbell rang. To my complete shock it was Debbie Allen. Its not important really why she was there. I froze in my tracks. Moving along, she asked for a glass of water. Well she had to open the cupboard to get her a glass and get her own water. I was still frozen. The moral of this most embarrassing story is "IF, you ever plan on meeting your idol face to face, be prepared to look as dumb and foolish as you can possibly be." Need I say she was as gracious and down to earth as anyone can be. Its as if this wasn't the first time this has happened to her ( I was and still am her biggest fan)

@@spackar2720 I loved her in Flashdance and Dirty Dancing but to me there is a category of star dancers - in which I include Debbie, Chita, Donna, Ann Reinken and Gwen Verdon and perhaps a few more - that is way higher than all the others.

Just for reference, Donna McKechnie is a good seven years older than Debbie Allen, which would have put her in her early to mid 40's when this episode was film & aired, and during the few years prior McKechnie had been combating debilitating, crippling rheumatoid arthritis that nearly ended her career and ruined her life. The fact that she recovered so resiliently and then danced with Debbie Allen of all people at this stage in her life when this episode was filmed & broadcast, and then returned to Broadway to resume the role of Cassie in A Chorus Line around this same time, was & is an undeniably huge victory. Both of these women are winners, both exceptionally well deserving icons of dance & theater. Among these women's accomplishments, Debbie Allen inherited West Side Story's Anita from Chita Rivera, both inherited Sweet Charity's Charity from Gwen Verdon, Donna McKechnie created A Chorus Line's Cassie, Debbie Allen created Fame's Lydia Grant. Both are absolute legends. Enjoy their performance.

But, I fell in love with Donna the first time I saw her in the 1972 Lerner & Loewe movie musical "The Little Prince". She was the Rose.
