- Good Heavens! He's only gone and actually built it - despite the involvement of a pratt. Any acheivement like this does, of course, warrant a grand opening . . . .
I’ve only just heard of Mark’s passing.
I was a small boy when the show came on Discovery and it absolutely fascinated me to this day.
My thoughts are with Freddie & family 🙏
I watched this series when it was first out im not even into railways, but Mark makes the show, the funny thing re watching this now is how far Technology has come since then
Thanks for the recommendations - although I did film them!! Glad you've all enjoyed these programmes and many thanks for all your kind comments. The railway has gone now, I'm afraid. We were looking to sell the house so I pulled it up in anticipation - and then, of course, we never actually moved!! A new one is planned but haven't found the time to get cracking on it yet . . .
Hi Mark? We met once at a 16mm NGA exhibition at Stoneleigh. Just seen your post here, after Id left a post about Valerie and David Pratt.
I'm sorry to hear that the line got taken up. Did you ever build a new one?
Did I you build one by now? If so please post something about it.
Rip such a marvellous man. I enjoyed watching these growing up.
Saddened to hear of your passing Mark, my inspiration, rest in peace
Outstanding series! Like a good book, hate to see it end. "Sir, may I have more, please"
Just watched the complete series over the weekend.
Loved it. Can't wait to get my long desired railway underway!
still waiting for the Japanese garden :\
@Eduardo Merrick piss off bot
Rip Mark Found
Really enjoyed watching this series as well as some of the other documentary's he did
he had a really goofy sense of humour which I loved
he will be missed
He died?! When?!

@@alexthewoo Damn. Rest in peace mark.
11 years late, but I just discovered this series here in 2012, and I loved it. Nice choices made with both the station area and the water feature when original plans didn't work out. Model train layouts are more fun when things don't go as planned and you have to adapt. I like to say my model train layouts build themselves, as I don't do much planning. Just start constructing and see where it takes you. Great writing and directing, too.
Circa 2002, David and Valerie visited my father and I, on their way to Princes Risborough (GRS shop). Valerie was the driving force behind British Outline Buildings (now owned at the time of writing by GRS) and we had ordered a station kit, goods shed, engine shed etc from Valerie and David. They said they'd deliver our order P&P free and swing by, so we gave them a slap up lunch. David was very complementary about our fledgling SM32 garden railway. He mentioned, in passing that he'd been involved in a TV programme - he was very knowledgeable but modest. We replied that we only had 'council TV' and weren't aware of the Discovery Channel LOL! I think that the series was aired in 2001? We had a lovely couple of hours with them pretty much oblivious of the TV series, until much later when we purchased a DVD release of it. We were novices, unaware, that we were in the presence of kindly experts. Happy days back then. Our line still exists, 18 years on, as we battle to complete a more basic 7mm garage-garden-garage line (we never learn - garden railways are joy but not for the feint hearted!).
Thanks for this very inspiring and interesting garden railway series. Very fun also! A lot of tip for my upcoming garden railway in the south of Sweden.
Thanks Very Much for the series, Mark. My wife and I have enjoyed the programs and will watch then all again over Christmas.
I just finished watching your series and I must say was quite enjoyable!
Now I know this response is 9 years later after finding your series however I do plan too setup a garden rail way myself here in Canada and something I recently learned the term of is called "dead rail", basically battery powered or another means of powering the locomotive(s) while not needing to have power on the track.
Now I do not know when I will be starting my out door garden rail way however I will be checking back too this series for tips and pointers I might need.
Thanks for making the series and hope your garden rail way is doing well too this day.
I really enjoyed watching this series, in 1 hit, all five n three quarter hours. Totally absorbing, definitely didn't feel like that amount of time. Really interesting and informative thanks heaps guys.... :)
A fantastic series Mark , well done! I spent most of my weekend watching these - thoroughly entertaining! Looking forward to more!
Over here across the pond, in Sacramento CA, I really enjoyed the series and found it quite well done. The finished Layout is quite beautiful. I have been modeling in N and HO (OO) for years and it was nice to see some things I have never seen before or knew about. Your series was very informative.
Enjoyed these videos when they were on tv and will watch them all again now. I think Mark is entertaining and a good guy.
You did WHAT after everyone left?!
Mark this has been a most entertaining and informative series. Really looked forward to each episide.Cheers from Oz.
Loved it Mark! Thanks for making the series!!! Watched it all in two sittings...Couldn't pull myself away.
I watched the whole series and enjoyed it very much. Now I'm off to start my own garden railway. Yippee!
i remember watching this many many years ago....although it seems they only showed it once.....but thank you for putting it on here, its great!
I’d love to see an update on this
Looks like the line was lifted and extension made to the house?, but the raised beds are still there but not many plants left. A new vertical feather edge fence to the rear etc.
@@musoseven8218 Yeah, I found the house on Google Maps and it does look like the railway has been removed. It's hard to tell, but the raised railway sleepers look like they are still there.
Excellent program. I will start digging my garden soon. In the meantime looking forward to the Japanese garden series :)
This was a fantastic series with lots of helpful pieces of advice I wish to use one day, when making my own layout, and it had a bit of funny moments in it too. I really enjoyed this, and I can't wait to see more videos that come from this channel.. soon. :)
I have just got rid of a OO gauge line in my garden, nothing to do with the scale just that it didn't fit in with what I wanted in the garden. A new 32mm gauge 16mm scale line is now being constructed (at least I have got to the dreaming about it stage) with a 45mm gauge line to join it at a later date. Your videos have given me some real inspiration to get on with it.
This is just the best thing ever. Thank you.
How is it now? I will look for newer videos. But to comment on the reason you had a dried up harbor with just a slight puddle, so kids won't drown. Well even if that harbor water feature were full it would only be roughly 6 inches deep and certainly not big enough for a child to get into and drown. I would be more worried about the kids climbing on the display and breaking things. Looks nice though.
greath work - nice series funny form for beginners - and I thing that lots of peoples will start with building garden railway.
Great series! My daughter and I just finished watching the entire
series. I'm curious how long the railroad lasted before you tore it
all up. Did you remove everything including the raised bed, railroad
ties, cement blocks? Interesting to think about model railroads in
terms of moving. Did you sell it off? Or did you keep the setup for
when you have time to rebuild? We are trying to decide whether to
jump into this as there seem to be a lot of fantastic garden layouts
that no longer exist.
Hi Mark Found! You really help me with model railway, although I dont have a garden railway, but I got (with layouts) : H0, TT, N, Z and next month also newest: T-gauge. In future I want also try to build my own garden railway, so, thank you for help! Bye from Czech Republic!
Don't know when this series was made, but it was uploaded almost exactly 5 years ago, and it's amazing how much cameras have improved in that time. The ubiquitous GoPro obviously wasn't available to them by the looks of it, the footage they produced from the model trains running round his garden looked awful compared to today's cameras. Great series thou, watched them all in 1 sitting.
diecast jam
This was made in 2001 I think. So no wonder the cameras improved.
Great series Mark, hope we see some more train related series in the near future from you!
Merry Xmas from the Land Down Under!
What a shame it's gone. Thanks for a great series. I'm in the states, Southern California to be exact. About to start our own garden railway. You should film another series if you do another one. Thanks again.
Richard Nichols he was joking its still there
+Platinum Shadow I can't believe Richard Nic actually believed the story of it being ripped up....! In fact quite a few of these posts worry me and make me question my belief in humanity...!!!
s brenan wow, you have issues if you think that because I read he tore down, from an article he wrote, that humanity has issues. Wait humanity does have issues, but much worse ones than me believing an article he wrote. The real issues are people like you, who have nothing better to do then comment on something over 30 weeks old. Good luck.
+Richard Nichols you should've mentioned his spelling mistakes lol
just watched all of them back to back. What a great series. I cant beleive I missed its initial run. I finally decided to go for a OO gauge garden layout, but the lessons to be learnt in this series are valid across all gauges.
I wonder what state Marks layout is in, some ten years later.
We need a new series, Mark. Genius.
SUPERMODELS! i remember that programme, it often followed this. there was another model programme too.
Hallo Mark,
Danke für Deine Intressanten Erklärungen.
Grüße vom Peter aus Berlin Germany
8:50 - Talk of producing a remake of 'Thomas Comes to Breakfast'!
Great serie, I really enjoyed waching, Un saludo desde España.
Great series 🌟
The end of an era.
This was a nice interesting video inside this train stuff,
they should see if all the garden railways in this are still around. its been over 10 years. a reunion.
thanks for the oncoming vids. i have got into hornby and i have got the tornado pullman express 00 gauge is there anywhere cheep to get 00 hornby because you have made me like model railway.
It’s all gone now. Only used it for a couple of years.
Really nice series, I enjoyed every program.
All that effort, shame it was pulled up really! Good series, thanks for uploading
Would love to hear a update 🙂
This was really inspiring. Thank You for sharing this!!
Great Series - I've really enjoyed watching it Mark.
Just found (no pun intended) this while planning my own RR. Binged watched the whole series. Loved it! However, did I miss the part about patching the rip in the harbor lining?
Thanks for uploading this series, it's been a saviour for spending the boring christmas holiday at the parent's house! Shame there's no more!!
I am tempted to rely 'It's better than soccor mate'; however, Mr Found is footy fan - well everyone has dark side. Excellent vid's of course. I would like more similar railway stuff from Mr Found and Co.
Thanks Mark. Great stuff.
But the yatch cannot get out under the bridge!
be nice to see what it looks like now.
@MusicalElitist1 No......I really enjoyed that series
What happened to the other 2 videos?
Loved watching this series Mark. Sorry to hear you have now pulled it all up. What a great layout you had bet you regret finishing with it! Cheers dave.
Mark i hope you were just kidding when you say you rip it all out and make a japanese guarden hehe. But i love the show and i learnd allot. Many thanks and greetings from Belgium.

ShadowSamurott SAME, I’m 13 and me and my dad are building a 10 1/4 inch gauge locomotive and Railway!
Fantastic. Are none of the Super Models series available online?
Great series from 2001. Enjoyed it when it was being shown on Discovery H&L, along with Supermodels - will you be uploading that series next, Mark?
Of course he's joking about the ripping-down-the-railway-thingy. xD
I thought so. I wasn't sure, he looked very serious. XD
He sold the house with in a year so all gone now
I want to know what that pink thing was at 18:47!!
When he says 50 p does he mean 50 pence or 50 pounds?
12:28 anyone know the name of this music? or artist?
This was actually a really good little series, too bad i have little interest in Garden Railroads! But still was fun to what and the part at the very end was pretty funny!
Why does he have a microphone to speak to a crowd of ten?
Did they really rip it out?
Are there come more episodes?
it was part of a casting mould for a bit that sits on the roof of the church lol
@cvrmaniac Ha ha!! Cheers, Tom!
Sorry this Guy!!!! :(
I meant he (mark) is a pratt for destroying a wonerful and perfectly good railway haha!
I didn't make it clear in the last comment
