I LOVE how much thought you put into your scraps! It inspires me so much!!

Thanks for the inspiration for scrappy things. Always enjoyed your socks. I really need to learn to knit them. Since the pandemic I crocheted a scrappy granny square afghan and enjoyed it and even started a circle in a square afghan. I really do not need any more afghans but needed to keep my hands busy. Have fun on your move to Ohio♥

You never ever can't put too much thoughts into the stuff you love to do. I do work on 4 scrappy blankets. At least they are started and get some progress now and then. I already have a blanket in mind that I want to knit up as a babyblanket for us in advance. Nearly same way as you did.
I do sort my scrappy scraps as well. Everything handdyed sockyarn goes in to my cosy memories. Everything left goes into a bag. If I have enough, I'll grap all those tiny skeins, that are below 10gr doing a magic knot ball and put them into my rectangle granny blanket. Everything that is bigger will take part in a mini swap or become scrappy socks or something else I couldn't define yet. I am always so inspired 🤗💚

It was fun to see all your scrappy projects. I always think I’ll start a scrappy blanket then I don’t do it. I’m trying to knit socks now and, although I’ve been knitting 60+ years, I find them very challenging. I have finished 1 sock but the only being it would fit is Bigfoot. Wish me luck on my next sock. Trying to learn magic loop but I’m left-handed and most videos on it are by right-handed knitters. 😳 Thank you for inspiring all of us to knit more.

I love your system for using up leftovers! I think I'll do something similar. I want to make a cozy memories blanket using yarn from planned, finished projects, then make scrappy socks, then put the rest into a corner to corner crochet blanket! So glad to have found someone who finds a use for all her yarn and (like me) prefers fingering weight sock yarn!

Thanks so much for explaining how to do the mug rug with the lines going in all four directions and coming to a point in the center. Can’t wait to do it correctly this time I messed up on my first one.

Just love your scrappy videos! I love all scrappy projects as I need to use up such beautiful yarn! I hate waste and seeing a pair of socks that have been knitted from scraps fills me with joy! Take care x

I haven't been knitting long enough to have loads of scraps, but I have been quilting for 25 years and scrappy projects e.g. quilts and bags, are the best!

I totally put thought into my scrappy projects too. I had an order in which I worked the yarns into as well. First I put a square into my cozy memories, then I added it to my pinwheel blanket, and then all the leftovers went in my giant granny square blanket. I finished both my cozy memories and granny square so my scrappy project progress has halted for the time being. I started a northeasterly but am only using self-striping or commercial patterned yarns in it. I think I will start a linen stitch crochet blanket to replace my granny square! I too want to use all my scraps in a mindful way. Love your projects Kay!!

Consider making Christmas ornaments with scraps. Knit in round then insert small styrofoam balls. Sew up ends and place a hook on one end. Maybe add a decorative feature on the other end.....like a progress keeper.

Kay, have you thought about putting the leftovers in your etsy as grab bags for sale? You wouldn't even need to identify them. Just weigh them out to about 100g and put them in one of those organza bags or even a cellophane bag. It would keep you from having a million scrap blankets to work on at one time and recoup some of the cost of yarn! I'm sure people would grab them up fast! And they would be great for people who either are beginners without stash or those who can't afford to have a stash. Just a thought!

Another great Scrappy Sunday chat! I look forward to these! I am loving your new knit blanket. I have some larger amounts of yarn leftover from a shawl project that I have been pondering what to do with. Now I know! Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy the crochet hexis, they are a lot of fun to make!

I just got done with all my sock scraps in a 30 by 30" granny square, thanks to you!! How wide is your scrappy stripe 300 chains? Do you have any idea yardage for a blanket? I went to Sock Summit in 2011 and have lots of sock yarn, so think I might just use skeins!!! I have lots of sock yarn!!!!

I’m test knitting a blanket that I think would be perfect for leftovers. It’s called “A baby blanket for Frances” by CamijoKnit’s (not out yet). You hold 2 strands of fingering together so goes fairly quickly.

On the scrappy projects, do you mix different yarn weights or do you keep the same weights in the scrappy project?

    • @CrazySockLady
      @CrazySockLady  4 года назад

All the same weights. They are all fingering weight.

What is a hexi scrappy blanket and what pattern are you using for your new blanket?? You said dish cloth, but not sure of the pattern. Thanks again.

The tutorial for the hexi blanket is linked below this video. The dishcloth pattern I am loosely following for the blanket is grammas favorite by pj Allen.

Too many scrappy projects? Is there such a thing? 3 scrappy blankets going, one scarf, one shawl. I'm not judging anyone else for scrappy madness.

Wow! Has it been 9 months already since you started this? Really? I don't understand time this year😂
I guess if you keep one or two of these projects with you during the move to work on the Sundays, they will probably see a ton of progress! Because it is mindless knitting, right? Dishcloth-adjacent, so to speak 😅
