I use my subsoiler to remove small stumps, just make a pass on all 4 sides and my 5075e pops them out all day long. I stick to smaller ones, works fantastic
Great video nice drone footage, a large pumpkin farm used a large 12" dia. plastic drain pipe for pusher blade. Doesn't damage pumpkins and no dirt build-up, sport stadium's also use same principle for pushing snow as not to damage turf. Once again thanks for these videos
I farmed for 33 years and to eliminate erosion, I would always subsoil on the contour or across the slope instead of up and down the hill. Good job anyway, looks good.
That's a good idea and makes perfect sense. I was more concerned with this small tractor getty tippy sidehilling. If it was more than just a demo video of the product, then I'd probably set it up better for stability and tackle across the slope. Thanks for sharing!
Ahhhh! The tried and true pumpkin pusher! A seldom used but oh so wonderful fall attachment! So glad Courtney that you brushed off the summer dust and brought it out to play! 😂 Awesome video Courtney!
Clever use for the snow pusher, sir! I think you'll have less trouble with water causing washout and erosion if you run your rows across the hill rather than up/down the hill. If the grade is too steep to operate your tractor across the hill, maybe consider angling the rows somewhat. Up/down the hill will cause you water runoff problems for sure. Take care and God Bless.
@@GoodWorksTractors I mean that your planting rows should run cross-hill to minimize water runoff and erosion, not the subsoiling. As long as you break through a hardpan layer, the direction of the subsoiling isn't all that important.
“Pushing Pumpkins”, sounds like a rock band 😁 That just caught my attention there when you did that. Kynna like me pushing snow with me loader bucket. Often we have to improvise and use what we have.
just a thought . You may want to warn a novice tractor owner when using a subsoiler or a deep plow about the possibility of snagging a strong root in which if the operator isn't prepared in the mind and doesn't know how to react immediately that the tractor will come up from the front and topple over backwards on top of them . I have known more than one family that has lost a loved one that way....Michigan
Another great video Courtney. This one was very relaxing with the music and excellent videography. Kudos to the quadcopter pilot! I'm assuming Chris is the pilot.
I was gonna say all you need to do is put up a solar fence and turn some pigs loose in there and they till the ground take care of the pumpkins then next spring till it up and plant corn you'll have great crop and people will come and pick it, thed shred it and till it up. Easy plot to take care of.
Question on the subsoiler: It looks like it goes down almost 24" into the soil. Should people be calling 811 if they use this subsoiler (certainly in town)? I know gas lines are no deeper than 18" from my own experience. I had a friend who was trenching in a field and hit a gas main. Didn't call 811 because he believed there was nothing out in the country.
Deer love pumpkins. Im not sure if you are allowed to bait deer in Michigan but in Florida we are allowed to bait on Private land. Pumpkins work awesome.
Courtney one of my hoses connected to my hydraulic top link loosened up as well after a few uses. I found that when lifting the 3PH the line was being pushed causing the line's connection to have a twisting force in the loosening direction applied to it. The hose is just a bit too long really. What I did was turn the hose connection into a spot where it did not push the hose connection anymore when lifting the 3PH. Hope this helps my friend!
im actually bought my very first tractor last week and it nothing fancy and really different its a belarus mtz 50 i believe made between 60s and 70s dont know the exact year its a full sized tractor but little on the small size its 2wd with manual transmission rear diff locks and 2 outlets for hidrolics from factory it has a gab and starts with any weather has 3 engines a electrik engine that starts a 400cc gas engine that starts a 55 horse 4 silinder water cooled diesel engine (my dad had a 18 horse 2 silinder aircooled tractor t16 was the model ) it also comes with all the leaks you could ever want and almost 2 doors
I am wanting something just like the sub soiler to do a 5-6" wide trench for drainage pipe, electric runs, etc. Do they make something like that? I've looked but the sub soiler is the closest I have seen.
SIX INCHES?!? What are you planning to mount it to, a Cat D8 dozer? With a compact or utility tractor, you'd need an active digging cutter like a Ditch Witch or the traditional trenching bucket on a backhoe, this video shows the struggle to pull a 1/2" wide bar at 24" deep: 6" wide is right out. Nonetheless, here's a cool video on a similar build style that, appropriately miniaturized, might be something you could find or fabricobble to efficiently lay low-voltage landscaping wire, shallow, small sprinkler lines, or possibly direct-burial electric lines if your jurisdiction, soil, and tractor can get it deep enough: ruclips.net/video/QwkqL1d7f7k/видео.html
That drone view looks like a crazy fella pushing around a veggie salad... maybe the cridders will chew on it over the winter. I'm gonna need a subsoiler for my odd-ball 2025R, have a somewhat smaller option???
@@GoodWorksTractors I believe it might now, since I'm changing out the left arm linkage to an adjustable one like the right side. That hopefully will give me another added 4" of height... we'll find out this weekend.
First, the channel is GREAT and I continue to learn a lot! Forgive me if I missed the episode, but what is the reason about the shift from the videos with the John Deere 1025R to the Summit? Just asking.
Good works.... have a serious product design id like someone to manufacture. Its a specific type of plow. Best type ever...wanna work together on it? Know any manufacturers?
Unless John Deere has changed/upgraded from the aluminum transmission/differential case on their compact tractors, I would caution anyone about using something like a sub-soiler. This puts a HUGE amount of stress on that area compared to normal operations and I suspect is a great way to find the breaking limits of these tractors. These are compact tractors..........NOT agricultural tractors. More or less a much upgraded lawn/garden tractor. While planting trees, a contractor asked me if I would sub-soil the areas we were planting with my John Deere 4410 compact tractor and I refused. When I told him the transmission/differential case was made of aluminum, he TOTALLY understood my refusal. When I observed how hard sub-soiling was on his John Deere 5205, I immediately knew I made the correct decision. You might get away with doing this in soft, rock free, garden soil but I would be VERY careful.
Two things may help the tractor work better is loading up the bucket full and keep the dif lock engaged on the straight runs. Now I must ask why you didn't take all those beautiful pumpkins and water melons to a non-profit food bank and help people eat AND GET A BIG TAX DEDUCTION 🤔, Even if you had to pay some kids to pick it, I think it would be better than what you did.
Leaving the leftover, rotting vegetables in the garden would've been better for the soil come next spring. Instead of pushing them out of the way why not just run over them and smash them into the dirt?

Yeah, I think I've seen them do that at stadiums before
Punkins are great deer feed and the seeds are a natural dewormer.

The greenhouse sells pumpkins for Halloween and whatever is left over he feeds to the cows. They seem to love then too.
Love all your videos and how clean all your tractors all! Could you do a video on how you clean them, especially buffing them out? Thanks!

Not sure this person has ever used a subsoiler, sounds like an armchair expert
Pumpkin pusher - interesting use of the snow pusher. That subsoiler is much better quality than the one we tried on our channel.
Haha, yeah first for me :)
Loving using these to run/pull waterlines too 👌
I bought the Titan subsoiler, has adjustable depth and a safety shear bolt, nice tool for removing roots.
It's a lot cheaper than the Oregon Subsoiler.
Nice video subsoiling spacing is 24-30 inches food for thought
Thats a nice pumpkin pusher you got there.

By the way, I live in Washington, right above Oregon. It's pronounced "ORE-uh-g'n". It's a beautiful state if you stay away from the big cities.
people generally till up or plow under their extra pumpkins and watermelons.
Was easy enough to move them out of the way

Now I want to know how well a snowblower will work on pumpkins.
Haha, I think I saw a Ventrac clip doing that

Only suggestion I have is you probably should till your plot across the slope instead of up and down. Less erosion, or less chance of it.
Seems something had been eating them
Yeah, I mentioned that in the video, need to run some passes sideways
I haven’t watched the whole video yet but you should be tilling those pumpkins into your garden. They are packed full of nutrients for your soil
you want all those pumpkin seeds in there
Good product
Chickens love pumpkins or till the pumpkins into the garden as compost?

That's a fairly popular use of subsoilers, along with using them to lay wire in the ground.
Yeah finally saw it... Shiny Fuel cap is not on there.
Hehe yep

No till starts with proper subsoiler preparation. Its the practice following that counts.
I pull one that is the same size as that with my JD 4115 with no problem.

Hi from Denmark 😊 Does this attachment works with the summit traktor? I have the European equliant model Solis 😅
