    Thanks for the tutorial. I used it to tie a lanyard for my machete (my first paracord project). I tied the herringbone knot, placed the standing end of the paracord through the machete's lanyard ring, tied the lanyard knot, and (finally) covered the lanyard knot. The resulting knot exceeded my expectation. Thanks again.

    Well, after 3 days and countless attempts - SUCCESS! I think my challenge was in the initial setup and in particular the pass shown at ~4:50. Once I got that correctly done the rest went flawlessly. Rather than a lanyard knot, I prefer the kings crown button knot for the seed as it gives a more pleasing final appearance. Thanks for a great tutorial.

    Man, this was difficult! It took about six goes, but I got there in the end. I also made it more difficult for myself by tying it directly onto a large folding knife, which meant that at the end I had to pass the whole knife back through the weave to get the stopper knot into position

    Hey! Good video. Easy to understand. My complaint is that when the knot is done, you don't say anything about how to tighten up and finish the know. I finally figured it out by watching other videos. It's hard to know where to start with the tightening. This was my first knot (an maybe a little ambitious for the first), but after a number of times starting all over, I finally got it. Looks good!

      Eagle if you used this knot for your first knot, brotha, I salute you. If you finally figured out how to somehow perfect it, ALL other knots will be a walk in the park for you. CONGRATS!

      Gorm Veggerby hey! I just discovered that you can change the playing speed on RUclips! Hit the three dots in the upper right hand corner to get the menu-go to playback speed. You can go as slow as 1/4 or as fast as 2 1/2! It’s great to be able to watch some of this in slow motion!

  • @fluffymittens24
    @fluffymittens24 5 лет назад +2

    Do you coat your mandrill with anything? Some of the Paracord is so slick that the end loops try and pull up into the knot while trying to weave it. Because every loop you create on the ends is crucial. This thing will try and kick my butt if I don't watch what I am doing.

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Chris!
      I don't coat the mandrel, but if the slipping bothers you, you could indeed use something to add some friction (I usually use wax for adding friction on my projects). The issue though is that at the end, the mandrel will be harder to pull out of the knot.
      You could also set pins into the mandrel to hold your knot in place.
      Glad to see you doing this project, it is quite rewarding once you get the hang of it!

    Do you think it would be possible to put something "inside" this knot. Like a ball bearing or compartment? If you pulled the stopper knot out through the top to make more space, instead of leaving it inside the knot, would that change anything other than the aesthetic? I've seen a lot of the Globe, Monkey, and Celtic Slammer. (I really like the Slammer.) But, I've been looking for something a little different. I'm wondering if this could be modified into a reasonable alternative? Thoughts? Thank you for all the wonderful videos.

    Hey Mark, I have a question for you. In a project in doing I want to finish it by adding a Spanish ring knot at its top. The problem is the base knot I'm interweaving is a 6 bight 3 length (I think that's what it's called, I know it has 6 bights but it has your basic three strand braid pattern in its body), and it has 6 strands going into it. In short what I'm asking is, do you know of a way to make a 6 strand Spanish ring knot, the base Turks head having 6 bights?

    • @Paracordguild
      @Paracordguild  8 лет назад

      Hey!
      So it is a multi strand Spanish ring knot?
      If so, It can be done like this:

      Hey!
      A proper way would be to do it would be to tie a third pass on the herringbone knot with the smaller strand. I just followed the standing end and came out with the working end though. Did it on the mandrel to make it much easier.
      I hope that helps! If not, let me know!

    • @drengskap
      @drengskap 6 лет назад

      You can stiffen the working end by giving it a quick blast with the lighter and pulling it to a point, then repeating until the cord kind of becomes its own needle, but really, it's a lot easier to just buy a lacing needle. They're not expensive.

    • @MrCartrette
      @MrCartrette 5 лет назад

      I used to shove a toothpick from about 3 inches from the end through the cord then push the sharp point through the burnt end and cut it off. Then readjust your burned end. Get it kinda soft then spin it into a sharp cone, cutting off that point too. It works....lol
