I love both versions ; I have the expanded CD version of ( untitled ) , so I can enjoy both. Safe to say that the (awesome) live version is rather "speedy" .
Not if you were around at the time and true fan. Had ALL THE L.Ps. Saw them in London ROUNDHOUSE VENUE 1968! Overlooked my Hairy Celtic Arse! Haaahaa!I
C'est clair !!! un merveilleux groupe avec clear water revival !!! Merci d'avoir mis votre commentaire en Français .... A écouter aussi : Iron Buterfly ........
I feel the same. Discovered it earlier this year and can't get enough of it . Reckon I've got 8 albums by the Byrd's and for some reason this was never one of them.
Spaced out! Clarence and Gene are the best guitar/ drum combo of all time. White's B-bender is wild. beats off Rger's fancy Rickenbacker in this track, just. What a competition between the 3 strings.
I almost bought this CD when I saw it in a store in 2007 but decided to buy it some other time. Bad decision. I've never seen it again since & probably never will again. Damn record companies taking stuff out of print!
I've never heard this version before. It's awesome. I like the heavier version with Clarence Whites amazing electric playing but this quite good. Nice 12 string.
Closest we're going to get is when Hillman and Mc Guinn perform. Marty Stuart has White's original B-Bender, and he's a fantastic player (I've seen Marty & His Fabulous Superlatives live - an act that shouldn't be missed !) ; that's about as close to Clarence as one's going to get ( not sure if Clarence's brothers still perform ). Gene Parsons + Hillman + Mc Guinn + Stuart could play the hell out of any era of the Byrds.
+Jack Silverstone Hey, Jack. Where can I find this "Together" compilation? I found a "Live at Royal Albert Hall" 1971 album, but nothing called Together
Together is a well known comp from the early seventies, bumpers also had some fat tunes. Charity shops and car boots are where I would start. Good luck. And if you have never heard the garden of Jane delawney by trees, from the same period, very beautiful. Be well. Jack
Gene Parsons plays drums. That's also him on harmonica. It's the Untitled lineup so Skip Battin on bass, Clarence White on Stringbender guitar and of course Roger McGuinn with vocals and Rickebacker.
Great song and a great band, but there's no crocodiles in the bayou only alligators, you might get away with swimming with alligators although I wouldn't advise it, but not crocodiles not a chance,
I think I like this studio version better than the live one. Thanks for posting.

Such a great song. An overlooked GEM!

Thank god for CD reissues, otherwise no one would have heard this gem of a version😊lol
Jesus! I thought Tom Petty came up with this. Amazing song, 40 years older than I thought it was. Gonna have to check out the Byrds
Give 'Fifth Dimension' with David Crosby and 'Untitled' a double LP, half live, half studio a listen.
super groupe à écouter attentivement il y a plein,de bnes trouvailles
C'est clair !!! un merveilleux groupe avec clear water revival !!!

Where was that song for the last 35 years of my life?!! ;) Where was I?
I feel the same. Discovered it earlier this year and can't get enough of it . Reckon I've got 8 albums by the Byrd's and for some reason this was never one of them.
It's been here since 1970. Pretty damned good, eh?
Yes the Byrds were more than Tamborine man....very fine.....
i'm the first to comment??????????????
amazing track, grunge 30yrs before grunge,
check out the live version on the compilation album "together"
I`m the Lover of the Bayou

I bought the copy I have via an *eBay* seller , and it's brand new. Copies - new - are still around.
YEAH!
I've never heard this version before. It's awesome. I like the heavier version with Clarence Whites amazing electric playing but this quite good. Nice 12 string.
Yep. This version is phenomenal
It feels like I’m in a 150 year old wooden shack on the banks of the bayou while the sun is coming up
I BOUGHT THIS ALBUM WHEN IT WAS NEW AND THIS STUDIO VERSION WAS NOT ON IT!!!
Boo! Such a great song and we didn't get it!!
Yeah! It was a live version on the album.
It was on the Unissued CD of the reissued version. The songs on that disc would have made a good album on its own.
This was on one of McGuinn's post-Byrds albums. ruclips.net/video/rRfN2K0eQ8Q/видео.html
Bayou that dress...
Man, what a fantastic song. Is that David Crosby singing?
i think it's Roger McGuinn
Crosby had been long gone by then. It's McGuinn.
McGuinn. . .his voice is not like Crosby.
Roger McGuinn . He co-wrote it with Jacques Levy .
Rodger please put the Byrds back together.
Ain’t gonna happen. Rodger is born again and deeply buried in his faith.

also check out "found a child" by Balin' Jack on Together compilation, originally on blue vinyl (yeah baby).

oops its there
Miss the Richenbacker though
Listen carefully, it's in there
Bayou a drink?
McGuinn sounds a bit like Joe Strummer here. I swear his voice sometimes has a proto punk edge to it.
Peter Hartley 👍
coke...
This is a guess......Gene Parsons on harmonica......Jimmi Seiter on drums......can't make out the bass......
Gene Parsons plays drums. That's also him on harmonica. It's the Untitled lineup so Skip Battin on bass, Clarence White on Stringbender guitar and of course Roger McGuinn with vocals and Rickebacker.
Skip Battin on bass and I am pretty sure Gene plays the drums, it sounds like his fills
👍

Thanks mate... Never know when that advice might be handy! The things you learn while watching RUclips rock videos, eh?😉
I'm here for Clarence White. Lifelong b bender.
The live version is far better.
