The perfect 4th flavor of root and 5th power chord inversions sounds so cool!!! Also, Slayer loves doubling many of their lead lines with parallel perfect fourth harmonies! Great riff, Gunnar! Thanks, Jason!
Taking that Ritchie Blackmore style power chord (4th interval) and adding a couple notes/embellishing it is a great way to get beginners to improve and get more tonal options in riffs. Variations on that basic 5th power chord are good too for that too.
Jason really appreciate the lessons and I'm loving the ability to get that 80's vibe. Has Gunnar got his own youtube channel cause he has serious chops, can teach me southern rock and has a cool haircut
Hi Jason! You give out great content, thanks so much! I had a question I was hoping you could answer. When going from 5-5 on the D and G strings to 5-7, is this not swapping from an inverted C to a regular G power chord? I was not sure what you meant by still playing in a C. In relation to the C, wouldn't 5-7 be the P5 and M2 without any playing any C's? I'm still catching up on theory so it's likely a stupid question! 😂
Yes, technically it’s still a G power chord but that position is also with the C chord. In other words, for this riff, the bass guitar would be playing a C that entire time (as well as any other instruments). Definitely a great question! Because if you wanted the song to go to a G, that would work too
@@jasonstallworth nightwish is the best but cobra and the lotus and unleash the archers and frozen crown are awesome as well but nightwish ih the best in my opinion

Just goes to show that you can play really awesome riffs without over complicated chords. Great stuff
Yeah I've always preferred finding ways to make simple chords sound cooler!
I love how much effort you put in your videos. Keep it up man, that's awesome!

Great riff, Gunnar! Thanks, Jason!
Slayer has some of the best riffs!
@@jasonstallworth ...and those riffs always have something a little deranged or "up to no good" about them!
Blackmore ,uses these diads in many of his tunes ,Burn ,for one ,and some Rainbow tunes.
Love those tunes!
Pretty cool I like different power chords and creating something new 😎
Yeah this little tactic really brings out some new sounds!
