Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) use to play the Roland guitars back in the 80's. He did all the guitars and synth sounds (he still does). He is an amazing player.
Steve Stevens is such a nice guy also, went to a q&a he was at and answered every single question everyone had, plus saw him with Billy Idol later that summer be before COVID, it was so surreal meeting someone like him first then seeing him on tour later. He pulled out the ray gun at the Q&a and had some great Michael Jackson and Van Halen stories. I think Steve literally has met or worked with everyone
I remeber going in Captain Whizeagle's Music in Portland Oregon as a young kid in the 60s and seeing a couple Firebirds on the wall in the $300 range. Sounded like all the money in the world then.
Note, if you have multiple guitars with Celluloid pickguards, DO NOT store them near each other. The off-gassing of one can cause the others to rot and become brittle. (The gasses are likely nitrous oxide or nitric oxide (or some combination of the two) and the exact processes involved are not completely known.)
I am no Gibson expert, but I highly doubt that is "extra binding" on the neck and headstock, it's more likely Purfling with an outer binding. I like the way they made the flame zig zag on the back of that 25-50 LP
Gibson generally advertised it as “x-layer binding” (3, 5 or 7 depending on the price point they were aiming for). Honestly, it’s pretty easy to layer binding off the guitar (using acetone to melt it together). If it was purfling, they could have done something much fancier than just stripes (checkerboard and herringbone look great!)
That San Francisco Giants KH-2 was used by Kirk Hammett. They have Metallica Day every year at Oracle Park and James and Kirk play the national anthem on SF Giants themed guitars. Me being a Giants and Metallica fan, that guitar would be the perfect combo!
Greg Allmans les paul was given him by Eric Clapton. He used it about one year and left to his moms house. His mom has tried one or couple times to learn the guitar and left it at the corner without playing till today.
I heard the name Ibanez and was worried that someone had removed the original pickups. Too many people buy a 70s Ibanez and just scrap the pickups despite others saying the Maxon (The company that originally made the Ibanez pedals) branded pickups were the best Ibanez ever had
@@wesleyAlan9179 Greg's house, in the middle of our street, Greg's house, in the middle of our Greg's house it has a crowd There's always something happening And it's usually quite loud
Dave from Killer Vintage and Jimmy Wallace go over every guitar in the auction so there is no way that the 3-pickup Les Paul Lite Artisan has any repairs to the neck if they don’t mention it in the description.
On the topic of those Roland Guitar Synthesisers, you should definitely get your hands on some of those Fujigen made Roland GR series guitars, like the GS-500, G-202, G-303/808 or G-505!
I know I'd never unless I got lucky would be able to secure one but I think Gibson should do their homework and do a limited run on the North Star . If for no other reason than to do something different. I think it would look great with a crescent moon and star on the headstock. Of course in mother of pearl. I don't know if that's the same Gregg Allman owned guitar . I think I saw it going up for auction elsewhere. I live the Gibson inlay on the headstock for the artisan. The Clause Roder Gypsy is definitely a different look . I wonder if the tail piece and the bridge being two pieces means tug he bridge is a kind to a violin type bridge. One word of advice . Koy fish aren't cheap. Whether its buying them maintaining the habitat or just keeping them healthy. The city I live in had several ponds in front the court house and it was a chore of course to keep them . The city installed plexiglass atop the ponds to keep people from throwing trash and whatever food bits in the ponds. Even without the public being involved though itsa bit of work and up keep to have koy fish. Man I love that Rickenbacker. It's like a talisman from another time. If any of the viewers like myself got giped out of the carry case for their Spark amp harbor freight sells nice Voyager brand mechanics tool bags that's the right size a d about the same price as the bag you would've got .
You really need to get a late 70s Ibanez Artist model (77-79 is the sweet spot and make sure it hasn't been modified). Amazing guitars !!! I have 2 and I would sell both my Gibson SGs before I would sell my Ibanez guitars. 1 of my SGs is a 3 pickup and I would still sell it before the Ibanez.
Technically you could use the Roland equipped Les Paul with the older foot controllers… because it’s all MIDI based.. but they generally just advertised the system with the newer controllers released after they gave up on building an entire guitar and just started using the sensor bar you stick under the strings.
Not quite that simple, it may require a special cable. The guitars themselves don’t output MIDI, they output audio for each string, and Roland switched between different cables over the years. Modern setups use the round 13-pin connector.
Hey Trogly, am I correct that by using your Sweetwater link you get support and I get a discount of some sort? Please let me know, thanks, either way I will keep watching
If you’re looking for a new guitar, his new guitar day program on his site might get you a discount (or at least save you paying tax, unless you’re in Ohio because that’s his home state.)
I checked out the Bass category of that auction: there are some interesting items there too, such as a 1980 Les Paul Triumph bass that looks in good shape.
This guy goes into the "Too much gear, not enough talent" category. Sorry but In my opinion, guitars are made to be played and used not stored away never to be played

Unfortunate you are stuck on the Firebird V and VII. The Firebird III's are some of the most unique and "hidden value" model reverse Firebirds. The simplicity of the dot inlays yet bound neck mean they are a better value, but also give off the Les Paul JR vibes versus a completely stripped basic model instrument. I am the opposite, I HATE playing a Firebird VII and the Firebird V are just.....boring. 60's are more rare, but still, yawn. So much more character in the Firebird III and I lineups, especially in the odd ball 1965 transition ones.
Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) use to play the Roland guitars back in the 80's. He did all the guitars and synth sounds (he still does). He is an amazing player.
The work he did with Tony Levin and Terry Bozzio was incredible.
He did a solo on Meg Myers' song "Desire" and I swore up and down it was Buckethead. Didn't Glenn Tipton also play Roland guitars for an album or so?

Good episode I actually watch the whole thing.
You can use a vintage Roland ready Les Paul with the GR700 both use a 24 pin lead, newer stuff uses 13 pin leads
its called a moustache piece on the gypsy guitar, a straight one not curled like the Gibson acoustic

Would the serial number on the ‘54 possibly be inside the cover for the PU’s?
