Hey Brian - I've had nothing but problems casting with the exact same setup you have. I even tried pressure with the alumilite, but still end up with shimmery spots under the resin and small bubbles. How did yours turn out with no pressure? No bubbles? Thanks for the vid, Dave
I had problems trying this. When barrel trimming the resin separates from the fiberglass and looks shiny. Someone said that the Alumilite doesn't adhere to real carbon fiber properly... only the plastic based fiber tubing. Any ideas? I am going to try Poly Acrylic resin next.
Normally I use pressure. I would suggest thinning the resin by putting the cup in hot warm. This one turned out fine but my failure rate is high without pressure.
Ok, thanks, I have a blank sitting in the pipe right now (I have a homemade pressure pot {tested to 120 PSI} sitting on my bench) I am trying to get started so we will see how it looks tomorrow or monday.
Pressure is highly recommended but not required. Many people are successful in casting resin without a pressure pot. I use one because I sell my blanks. I do have a video showing how I put together my POT.
Your honesty adds a lot of value to this video. Thank you.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
It's amazing how much I learn from you guys! Thanks for posting the video!
good job Brian. now, show us the turning process for clear resin.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Can you use a pressure pot with resin or you can only use it can only be use with alumilite?

Where do you get the carbon fiber at and does it have a part number

Yellow fiberglass? Are you sure its not Kevlar?
Great video! Where did you get the mold?

What size carbon fiber sleeves were you using?
For those that still want to know, the best size is .5 inches.
could I have the part # I am guessing it is from sollercomposits
I don't see a part number. I order the 1/2" carbon fiber sleeves by the foot. I think it is a 5' min. order.
what resin are you using?
Did you watch the video? Alumilite
50% Carbon Fiber / 50% Fiberglass Biaxial Sleeves - I double checked the vendor website.
Everyone is talking about "pressure". I saw the video and didn't hear anything about a pressure pot. Is there another video that goes with this one?

Would be great if it would work. Just keeps telling me to retry. What a waste of time messing with it.
It works fine on my computer. It must be something on your side.
