Hi, Thank you for your comments. The pickup is an old Barcus-Berry unit that was designed for banjo. It just sticks on the top with blu-tac. It's a passive unit (no battery), and works well if plugged into a preamp such as an L.R. Baggs. I don't know if they are still available - I've had this unit for a long time.

How do you adjust the truss rod if the neck is in three pieces?

There is no truss rod adjustment. There are many steel string guitars without a truss rod, so hopefully this one will continue to work OK.

Little Jane has a truss rod, but only goes until the split of the neck ...

I own one and the truss rod nut is at the edge of the neck that faces the body. You need to remove the neck to adjust the truss rod, and then fix the neck into the body.
