00:50 WOW nice point i use to stack bigger batteries in the PS vita and it would always blow the batter out in a year. I am actually gonna do a video about it because i saw asus ROG ally users stacking laptop buttery's in the ROGally . that will double the heat but reduce the surface for heat dissipation by almost 88% sounds like a fire at 65 watts . The ps vita was 4 to 5 watts not sure if you have seen the asus rog ally laptop battery mod?

I saw that you docked the console from the timeline and raised an eyebrow. My jaw still dropped when you actually revealed that it was a full on USB-C hub with a GPU.
I just got my AMD 7640u, less powerful but good enough for my purposes. I'm inspired by you and am dreaming up a small USB-C hub that would protrude and connect like the expansion cards (think the Ethernet card, but now you have 1"x4" card parallel to your laptop). Would still love to see your take if it is worth your time as I slowly inch towards it.
Thank you for your honest reviews. Framework isn't a perfect company, but it was time for a replacement laptop and I would use it 4+ years until it falls apart anyways. It may not be the best bang for buck, but I wanted to buy at least one because of the company message and your reviews help to set level-headed expectations.

Now for a version 2, you could pull inspiration from what Ayaneo is doing with their latest product, the Ayaneo Slide which is currently being backed on Indiegogo. It looks like the screen can slide up to reveal the keyboard, making the overall design more compact/handheld. I think that would be a great addition to the next iteration of this project, if that's even possible, given the size of the framework mainboard...

I'd be inclined to forego the little touchpad and keyboard thing being built in and just use the original laptop screen, then you'd be able to use the battery management. I think I've also seen bare touch digitisers for sale, so you may even be able to make it into a touch screen, regardless.

I feel like for the next iteration, you can do it similar to the GPD Win Max 2 that you showed off earlier. Basically let's say it looks like a laptop. The screen is on the top portion, and the keyboard is on the bottom portion. So it looks like a laptop, but have the battery somehow behind the monitor, and have the joycons / controller attach to a rail on the keyboard portion of the laptop. Maybe? Anyways great work, and I think Framework should listen to you and get the power issue sorted in the BIOS. I recall this isn't the first time you've raised issue about the BIOS, especially in your earlier cyberdeck video, no?

Dude this is epic refine the charging solution and increase the size of the display or add 2 displays one 16:9 and one smaller at 21:9 for permanent onscreen keyboard and hardware stats during gameplay also making it thiner by changing the type of LCD to something more integrated and also changing most cables from round wire based to ribbon style would make this a lot more versatile and better looking

Hi CJ. Have you ever though about making a rugged/passively cooled chassis for the framework? i feel that so many people would be excited to see that! I work in a lab/boat and "rugged" pcs are very very expensive and pretty bad. because the framework is repairable and the motherboard will remain the same shape for a long time, i think this would be a great system to make a rugged chassis for. I would buy one.

Heh, fascinating project. On the one hand, great work putting this together, on the other it's absolutely fugly and is in desperate need of a v2 with smaller bezels, a usable keyboard and touchpad, and more. You could also save _a lot_ of internal space by using something like ADT-link's internal slim cabling, as that would save you from the nested adapters and thick wiring. And when you've got that kind of access to 3D printing gear, why not make something nicer than just a rectangular box? Please round off some edges and corners.
