FILM DESCRIPTION:
Having rescued robot Johnny Five (Tim Blaney) from being destroyed by the military in "Short Circuit," Indian scientist Ben Jahrvi (Fisher Stevens) moves to New York City to become an American citizen. After struggling to sell a few toy replicas of Johnny, Ben must scramble to make more when Sandy Banatoni (Cynthia Gibb) orders 1,000 for her department store. With Johnny's help, Ben begins making the gadgets, but his plans are endangered when thief Oscar Baldwin (Jack Weston) steals Johnny.

I love how Johnny went from thinking that they were making up their own language to speaking fluent pig latin in the timespan of a few hours lol (although it's not so difficult to master)
Well, Johnny's a fast learner. I think he realized what it was after the fact and used it back on them. I like that he used it back on them. It also showed the bad guys that he now knows it so nice try if they use it again on him.
Pig Latin is quite simple to translate - takes a lot of practice to get fluent in it but I'm sure a (written) English-Pig Latin translator would be trivial to code. So for a robot it would be very easy once he knew the rules and could generate the code to translate. Thus I'd think it wouldn't take hours for him to figure out and master, but at most a few minutes at least if someone told him how it worked. Would be far simpler than translating to an actual other language which would require a full new vocabulary database and some grammar, though given how quickly he processes "input," able to read an entire book in seconds, that probably would be quite easy for him too.
@@quillmaurer6563 I've wondered why Johnny 5 was so unfamiliar with pig-latin. With all of those books that he's read in his super-fast way and his ability to memorize 100% accurately every word he has ever read, and heard from others talking too, I just never understood how he never once came across pig-latin somewhere. Because if he had read or heard it even one quick time, it'd would've been 100% programmed into his memory and he would've known what Oscar was saying.
Also, I thought Johnny 5 had a sensor to where he'd know when someone was coming up behind him, he was able to stop the bad guys' earlier attack where he caught a crowbar being swung at him from behind by catching it with his hand. It was right before he went "Bad humans!!" and his eyes turned red.
But I do understand though, I guess, the movie needed a section where the bad guys got the better of him and where we needed an act where we weren't sure if Johnny 5 would make it. Part of me realizes that is needed in a storyline to make a good movie, but part of me has also been a bit bothered how the bad guys got a good strike at him.

Love Fred's redemption arc. Going from someone willing to sell Johnny 5 for easy money to helping catch the crooks who tricked and pulverized Johnny to a near pulp.
boy I wish I had my very own real-life Number 5, not only as a bodyguard but he'd be my best friend, he is so loveable even when he is angry and fending off bad guys.
Probably in the future there will be life size Johnny 5s that you can buy!!!

This movie did great at making a sequence involving a dying mentally degrading robot accept his death and relentlessly chasing after revenge and now johnny 5 has experienced the full spectrum of emotion

I saw this in the theater when I was 11. I was fully into it and still think this movie works. One of the best sci-fi/action/comedy scripts ever written.

@@superagant207 It's one of the many brilliant yet subtle moments in this movie, where Oscar used Pig Latin to get the other two to attack Johnny from behind, in a odd almost karma type turn of events when Fred did a poor job recross-wiring his voice to talk improperly, making it here where Johnny unironically uses Pig Latin himself, probably without even realizing it.
That's just really good script writing right there.

This is one of many films I grew up with even those I was only 2-years-old when this was released.
0:33 - _Ding!_ All three bad guys survive this horrendous car crash with no major injuries whatsoever.
But two of the henchmen had blood dripping from their heads. So they did have head injuries. Oscar looks to be completely unharmed.

I forgot about the "Hero" theme, and it brought a moment back to me. Several of my favorite movies play this theme, and it doesn't get old, but I still say Shrek 2 was my own personal favorite top of the line use of this track.
I like the Shrek, but this was more of a classic because it was in the 80s and Johnny 5 was almost killed before he went after Oscar.
