The "Cannot connect to iTunes" store is more recent. I get the same message on my iPod Touch gen 4. It used to work before 2024, and maybe into January or February, but it was canceled some time this year sadly.
That’s what I was thinking too. Although even when it did connect, you couldn’t download anything because all the apps were made for a newer version of iOS.

That is so true. For one-handed use, these phones were superior for sure. However, I think with us being used to bigger screens now, it would be hard to go back for very long.
Android utilizes the large screen real estate more efficiently than iphone ever has. Having used several iphones for 12 years of my life with both small and big iphones, I understand the big screen struggle on iphones very well.

I do remember on the iPod touch 2nd generation, on iOS 4.2.1, RUclips stopped working in the browser around Fall of 2018 and since then, I have not been able to play a RUclips video on iOS 4.2.1. Whats interesting is that the iPod touch 2 and the iPhone 3G stopped at a very stripped down version of iOS 4 with no multitasking, no setting the homescreen background, basically like how it was on iOS 3 and before, I guess due to its low amount of RAM. This iPhone had the same amount of RAM as a typical desktop PC back in 1999 or 2000 running Windows 98 second edition. In fact, I've seen PCs with 128 MB of RAM as early as early 1997.
