I grow up In Bletchley but didn’t visit the place I have since visited on several occasions and am also booked to take my foundation exam later this month, My wife and I spent a good hour talking to the station operator on the last visit. I spent many hours short wave listening on an old valve driven radio 35 years ago. also dabbled in CB SSB and on UKFM when it was made legal in the UK back in the early 80s It’s something I put on the back burner far too long. Currently have several new radios to allow me to listen to the HF bands and our local repeaters how things have moved.
Tony, that's awesome. I wish you well with the study and your exam. I look forward to working you on the air or seeing you at Bletchley park when I'm on duty. Regards Keith
I was blown away by the SDR enabled tablets when I visited around 6 years ago. Had a chat with a lovely Elmer who was looking after the station at the time (regrettably I don't recall his actual name). Recently got my Foundation License and am looking forward to returning at some point now I have a better appreciation of the art.
Dave, after lockdown when we are up and running at full speed again come and visit again. Would be great to let you make some contact with the Flex radio, 400watts and Stepir beam. Hope to see you there. Keith
Always wanted to go there, the only time I was close was with the missis and kids, they would have been bored silly, so decided to go back another day, but it never came! However, maybe some day! :-)) You work there, maybe I will meet you some day. Nice video.
Sure Bob, I'm very lucky to volunteer al;ong with others in the radio centre. Due to covid we are currently closed to visitors but hopefully we will be seeing visitors back shortly. Do come again and hopefully I'll be on duty.
Brilliant video. The national science museum in Canada's capital had a fully functioning amateur radio demonstration area, run by volunteers, for many years. The museum underwent a major multiyear refit and the got rid of the station, VE3JW.
John, it's a lovely place as you say. Trouble is people don't realize how much there is to see and do there so normally miss us. Be good to see you back again.
I came across your channel whilst on a search for a start into my journey to learn CW. I stayed nosing through your very interesting vids, are you coming back? I have subbed incase you do. Well Bletchley Park, driven past it many of a time, know of its history very well or so I thought, I never knew this went on there now, how great, I'll print of my RSGB voucher and drag the XYL along. Thank you. 73 De Richard 2E0IKJ
Hi Richard, yes I do intend to get back up to speed with some more videos. Been a busy time both at home and at work. Do visit Bletchley Park. I volunteered at the NRC for several years and it is a great place. It showcases the hobby and the work amateurs undertook during the war. Keep your ticket so you can visit again during the year, you will need to go more than once as there is so much to see. Keith
@@TheHamRadioJunkie Thank you Keith thats even more interesting, I have wanted to know further of the roll of amateurs with WWII. Only last night I was reading of a young lad whom copied the Titanic's distress call in Wales, reporting it to the police whom disbelieved him. He was quite a smart dapper of a young chap with one leg. Don't we love some history. Looking forward to my visit I have booked for September but hopefully go sooner. And yes please consider coming back here your videos are very helpful and enjoyable.

I visited in February 2023. What an absolutely amazing place! It's a must visit on your bucket list. 73's 2E0FVC
It really is a great place to visit, even better to volunteer at.

@@TheHamRadioJunkie It is getting something for the missis to do, she just rolls her eyes when it comes to radio!
LOL.

That's a real shame. We are very lucky to have a great demonstration station at Bletchley Park.
@@TheHamRadioJunkie I would love to get to Bletchley, for so many reasons.
