I too became a grandmother for the first time when my daughter gave birth to my grandson on November 6, 2023. It’s been a full year and I absolutely LOVE it! I help as much as I can, but with me being 45 years old, I still live my life. I balance both. Congratulations to you all🎉
I'm retired with no grandkids and live in Michigan USA You're right Milly the role of grandparents these days are different. Congratulations again Milly ❤🎉
Hey Milly..Congratulations on your beautiful granddaughter .I'm 55 and also a grandmother of 4...I still work as a teacher full-time and I live very far from home..I see them maybe 3 times in a year . every chance I get I ensure to spend quality of time with them.
In London, I took 2 weeks annual leave am a nurse as well, to be with my daughter as my it's my first grandchild. Am a44 year old grandmother. It feels great. I am loving. Don't worry Milly you've all the time in the world just pray for good health for the family.
I was just telling my hubby that there is a lady I now watch who lives in Denmark and looks so much like the legend Diana Ross and then your new video popped up in my notification and he was like Yes! she DOES LOOK LIKE HER!....LOL! congrats! again Milly on your new milestone as a grandmother. Merry! Christmas to all.
Oh wow!! I swear I don’t see it, but just on Friday I showed my colleague a photo of me without a headwrap and she said the same thing. But it’s a beautiful compliment and I receive it with a big smile 😊. Thank you 🙏
A great video. This is the problem with our African colleagues they are still living a life like they are still in Africa. We are in a modern society. Being a grandmother doesn’t mean you have to let go your own life NO. Our children are the ones who have children. This doesn’t define us. We still have a full life ahead. My mother who is in her 80s did it alone, and I did it alone too and my daughter will figure it out on her own. I don’t think it’s a culture it’s a CHOICE. I am 52. We meet when we can meet. I lead my full active life as I please. Enjoy your life as well as your family. ❤😊
I was in my 50s when my first grandkids were born. I retired at 39 so i was very active in their lives. My daughter lived down the street from me so I was active with them almost daily. Now I am 65 (well Dec 17th i will be). I have a new grandson from my son and I am a different type of grandma. He n his wife live about 30 miles away and it is fun to be a "visiting grandma" 😂😂 We visit almost weekly and that's fun. My 19 yr old granddaughter visits me often and we enjoy each other. My 17 yr old grandson is kinda quiet, but I see him about three times a week. I am in the U. S. so it varies here. Some grandmothers are able to be involved and some are still working.
@@melinda3196 wow! They have been blessed to have you in their lives. Many people are working until late in life and some just want to “have a life” and not just be grandparents. Happy to hear you are having so much time for the grandkids. Thanks for watching 😊
In the US the we are expected to work six weeks after giving birth, and the retirement age is sixty five, but most Americans can not afford to retire anyway. Most grandparents work regardless if they are young grandparents or old grandparents. And on top of that most kids move to where the jobs are, which usually is not close to their hometowns. I’ll be a grandmother in April of next year and I’m forty-three. My daughter and her husband live on base in another state, an eighteen hour drive away. Thank God they are here for Christmas. I plan to stay for two weeks with her when she gives birth. There is only so much we can do, that’s life.🤷🏾♀️
@@pleasebringcake oh dear! Now I can’t complain about 3,5 hours between me and my daughter. We normally have a year of leave, but the government has divided so the men can also have some of that. Anyways, congratulations with your daughter and it’s so exciting. True! There is much we can do.
Times have changed, our mother's didn't have to work and so they had the time but for us that are still working, we will help where we can and yes they should bond well with their newborns, if RUclips starts paying me then I can go part time and do the little I can😃
