I got this book for christmas. Must say its really thorough and detailed. Still stuck in the hand movement section :( It takes some time when reading until you are actually playing.
You should read Josh wright's piano performance demonstration tutorials skill. Including Paul Barton. Especially if on virtuoso presto tempo and fingertips dexterity touching
I just don't ever benefit from these books as they are often dry and apply blanket terms which are difficult to disseminate on paper. We need our own mentors to have dialogue with, help us reinterpret something we read one way...also her playing in the videos is so bland. I don't find it inspiring at all.
john will To each their own. :) Maybe her book will be more useful if it’s studied along with a teacher. One thing I do agree with you is the need for good personal mentorship.
Piano teacher teaching is piano performance demonstration skill for all piano learner. Mathematics teacher is lecture theory's teaching for all students in classroom.
One of them is manual labour for sport / music /fine art performance demonstration teaching. One of them is brain work for knowledge workers to make lecture with theory's teaching on scientific research. We hope everyone can understand this truth.
You should understand flexible and degeneration ageing with muscle and skeleton of hands at different age stages for piano teacher and pianist. Especially on flexible and degeneration ageing of hand's muscle and skeleton according to different age stages. Young piano teacher and young pianist 25 years old to 45 years old hand's muscle and skeleton are very flexible to very fast tempo play virtuoso works and advanced performance demonstration skill for all piano learner. Old piano teacher and old pianist 60 years old to 80 years old hand's muscle and skeleton are ageing degeneration to very slowly tempo and largo play / demonstration for slow music work.
I will never get a book or recommendation who understands music out of musicality or at least, she doesn't address, why her playing is so monotonous without taking care of the end of the phrases ... the content of the book might be interesting ... but I don't buy it with this video ...
Lots of world class musicians learned with pedagogues for a long time before pursuing advanced studies. For Evgeny Kissin the piano pedagogue Anna Pavlovna was literally his only teacher. The task of great pedagogues is to help talented musicians overcome their physical limits in a way that do not injure them, so they are freed up to express their musicality. That’s exactly what this lady spent her whole life researching on. Before criticizing maybe take a bit time to understand what she’s actually teaching.
I bought this book recently and it's already transforming my relation to the piano and my body
Got it some days ago and, so far, it seems like a treasure waiting to be unearthed. Thanks!!!

@@JLMABIO What I mean is one-on-one with a mentor/teacher.

Not convinced natural artistry comes through pedagogy sorry.
john will How so?
Androgogy is hardly a technique of use to learning a practical skill...which ince learned, you can then make your own.
