Under a Trump dictatorship, it could very well come down to high school / college grads grabbing their own military weapons and storming the capital and other agencies to get their country back!
A country that sells guns to 18 years old the same country doesn’t allow that 18 to buy a beer or cigarettes! This country has a problem a big problem!😠
But 18 yr olds go to war and get killed. Oh AMERICA where have you gone wrong. The FDA allows cancer causing food coloring and ok’s deadly preservatives in our food. Plastic is a an earth killer and everything is sold in plastic. Companies are criminal.
I refuse to do anything. With freedom comes certain consequences and we accept those consequences. 48000 deaths a year by firearms vs Cambodia. 1975-79. 1.5 million people murdered by government. Poland. 1945-48. 1.6 million people murdered. We could have 48000 gun deaths for the next 200 years and never come close to attrocities of large governments that killed unarmed people. In all reality you advocating for dis arming people is more evil based on human history.
@@SmedleyWarIsaRacket what I mean is that the people who refuse to accept sensible gun regulations are evil. The problem is the guns. Other countries have mental health problems and the video games and the other things that exist in the USA. The only difference is the number of guns and the types of guns and the ease with acquiring guns in the USA
Not just heartless but false. We had bans on certain guns back in the 80s and gun violence dropped a fair chunk. When those bans ran out and were not renewed that gun violence more than doubled again. YES, those laws DO help.
Do your research, there was no correlation between the ban and gun crimes lowering. The rise was ongoing during the ban's time period. Remember what the 90s were? Crack epidemic sounds familiar? There's a clear correlation there: too many crazy people were on the streets and citizens were relying more on firearms.
Or to look at it the other way round: Facts of life have the common characteristic of being universally valid, because everyone in the world has a life in some way. However, children are not shot in schools everywhere with terrible regularity, which is why one would almost assume that something could be done about this "fact".
Those who purportedly want to protect embryo and and unborn fetus but do nothing to protect the lives of the children who we carry in our bodies for 9 months, who we nurse, stay up late into the wee hours with sleepless nights, change diapers, make lunches, car pool to school everyday, take to sports, eat dinners with, laugh with, love and worry about as we send them to school everyday - those people care not about protecting lives, they care about controlling women's bodies. They give grief to families for wanting choice to begin families and they give grief to families who raise children and to the children themselves who worry about their own safety as they do something as simple as go to school. Those people are monstrously misguided when the answer is simple: smarter gun laws.
I do agree with your statement and it is very moving. That is not what JD said though I don’t like this. I don’t like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you’re, if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets, and we have got to bolster security at our schools,” And if you don’t want a man to make decisions about our bodies, then Roe versus Wade was pointless because they were all men who passed it. It’s the issue back to the states where it should be. Just like the marijuana laws, each state is different. And protecting our children would include securing our borders but that doesn’t seem to be a priority for this administration.
@@transformingourlives8922 I'm afraid I disagree on all points. 1) US needs more security in schools, BECAUSE this happens in the numbers it does ONLY in the US. Not because psychos attacking schools as soft targets is a "fact of life". JD's comment was tone deaf and cruel, while offering no detailed constructive solutions, which is concerning in a person running for VP. 2) Men passed Roe V Wade because mostly men were in Congress. It's POLITICIANS who shouldn't be making decisions about our bodies. 3) Your comment about the States and the borders is too vague. Some verifiable politically balanced statistical evidence would be useful to support your argument.
"We are re traumatizing kids." Exactly. This is not good. Colt's father bought the rifle as a present. He made a choice. And then his 14 year old son made another choice with that same rifle.
This clown has probably won the 'Worst Father of the Decade' award. How anyone can be stupid enough to buy a kid on the FBI's radar for having made threats of violence against others a gun is almost inconceivable to me.
@@kathleengardner833 That is all good and well until you understand that the Model of schooling in the USA is the EXACT same model of schooling in Hitler's Germany...... It is called "The Prussian Model of Compulsory Education" Its purpose is to teach Authority and Obedience to the State Apparatus, so when the kids grow up into adults they will support the flag and go wherever the leader leads them without THINKING or asking why. Also note the similarities in Prison and Compulsory Schooling, if you can't it is because you won't! "Because BAD Ideas Require en FORCE-ment GOOD Ideas do not for 'mankind' will naturally gravitate towards GOOD Ideas which is why BAD Ideas MUST be enFORCEd"
Way beyond crazy! A normal gift for a 14-year-old would include a new smartphone, an upgrade for their bicycle, a new smarttablet, which is the cousin of a smartphone, even a night to go see a really cool and age-appropriate movie with sodas, maybe a burger since movie food courts have expanded to include burgers, pizza, and a lot of other tasty treats inaddition to popcorn, nachos, candy, even Dippin Dots ice cream. A normal gift for a 14-year-old would never be one of those monster rifles and their monster ammo.
Empathy and protection of children / young adults just isn't in the P25 handbook, unless they have identified a ceiling number of gun casualties as "acceptable tactical losses"
100%. We had 1 in my country in the 90s and we immediately changed laws, tight gun controls, minimum 5 years in jail for possession and guess what?? Not 1 since. Guns are the problem, not mental health or doors or lack of prayer or whatever the NRA sponsored gop claim is the problem.

I grew up in the UK where there are strict gun laws. In the 25 years i lived in the UK there was 1 school shooting. For 20 years I lived in HK which has strict gun laws, based on those in the UK. During that time there were no school shootings. I have now lived in the Philippines, which also has strict gun laws, for 5 years. In that time there have been no school shootings. People such as Vance who vocally support the availability of firearms should maybe look beyond the shores of the USA to see how effective legislation minimises these events instead of saying that Americans simply have to accept them as a 'fact of life'. It certainly says a lot about life in the USA.

Ted Cruz said it himself... It's easier to focus on guns than fix a societal problem. That's the whole point Ted!!! We can't fix everything, but we can do something small like a gun law.
@jen9015. Canada has gum laws out the wazoo, but laws only target law abiding citizens; not criminals or those with criminal intent. Criminals don’t care about “laws”. that’s what makes them criminals. Licensed gun owners in Canada have their names run through the criminal data base every single day, 365 days a year, for as long as they possess a restricted firearm (like a handgun) license. They don’t even have to own a restricted firearm, the license is enough to trigger a daily vetting. If a restricted firearm owner or anyone in their household made a comment like the police investigated, all the firearms in the house would be confiscated by the police until it was deemed that a threat no longer existed and their license would be flagged. If they tried to buy a firearm with a flag on their license it’s unlikely they’d be able to procure a firearm, but again, Canadian criminals can dispense with all that because the biggest black market arms dealer is just across our border.

There's never been a school shooting in the Ukraine. There's never been a school shooting in Syria. There's never been a school shooting in Israel. There's never been a school shooting in Lebanon. There's never been a school shooting in Saudi Arabia. There's never been a school shooting in Egypt. There's never been a school shooting in Somalia. There's never been a school shooting in Australia. There's never been a school shooting in Great Britain. There are countries in yearslong conflicts that never had a school shooting. The United States has had 417 school shootings since the Columbine massacre. There have been over 400 mass shootings this year in the US, 10% of those were school shootings. I know you like guns. I like guns. I know you love your 2nd amendment. We all love action movies. But you can still have those and not have mass shootings. It's called common sense gun control. If you want to drive a car, you need to pass a driving test. You need to obtain a license, and you need to renew that license on a regular basis. If you continuously violate traffic laws, you lose your license. You should need to pass a gun handling course and obtain a license before you can get a gun. You need to regularly renew that license. You need to keep your guns locked away. And if you show you can't handle guns responsibly, you should lose your license and you should no longer be allowed to own or handle a gun. You should not be able to obtain a gun with a history of violent crimes. You should not be able to obtain a gun if you're mentally ill. You should not be able to obtain a gun until you're an adult. How come you're not allowed alcohol until you're 21, but you can legally own a shotgun when you're 12? Here's how it works in most countries. You are allowed to own a gun if: - You've successfully completed a gun safety course. - You've consistently shown you can safely and responsibly handle a firearm. - You're an active member of a shooting club, and have been for at least a year. - You don't have a history of violent crimes. - You are mentally and emotionally stable. - You keep your gun and ammo in separate safes at home and you are the only with access to either. - You don't carry the gun in public. You may transport a gun from and to the shooting range as long as the gun and ammo are locked away separately. You may transport a gun to any other location if you first obtain permission from the police, as long as the gun and ammo are locked away separately during transport and stored in separate safes at the final location. You may not make a stop while transporting firearms. You need to make sure you have enough gas in the tank, you've eaten well, and you've been to the bathroom before transporting your firearm. No stops at restaurants, gas stations, shops, or restrooms. You may not transport a firearm using public transport. The gun and ammo need to be under your constant supervision while transporting. No other person can have access to either.
A minor correction: There was a school shooting in the UK, in the 90's at Dunblane (Andy Murray, the tennis player, was one of the children there). Firearms laws were tightened up, and we haven't had one since.
the gist of your points are spot on imo, but you do seem to be leaning towards a level of authoritarianism that seems a bit over the top. can't make a pit stop while transporting a gun and ammo that are locked up separately? get a permission note from the cops when going anywhere other than a shooting range? must be a member of a club? some of that feels like overreach to me. but again, generally speaking i agree that if you're gonna have laws, make them useful, clear and easily enforceable. the situation in the u.s. these days seems so far from common sense (and that goes way beyond guns) that i feel like i need a passport just to have any.

When the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, the most common firearms were muskets and flintlock pistols. These guns were slow to load, had limited accuracy, and could only hold one round at a time. A skilled shooter could fire three or four rounds per minute.

You are allowed to own a gun if:
- You've successfully completed a gun safety course.

Why does the solution have to be either or, why can't we have both - common sense gun control laws plus more action against bullying, emphasis on inclusion, more available counseling for coping, anxiety and anger management in schools. Prioritize school funding to provide programs that keep our kids safe.
That all takes money. The only thing the repuklicans want to do is cut funds to schools. Hard enough to get funding for books and teachers.
Because that would involve more funding. For Public Schools they don't want more funding, they want to put them out of business. If you are afraid to send your kids to school and you homeschool them or send them to private school these morons WIN. If you don't, you risk your children's lives.
We do have common sense gun laws, it's people who need to exude common sense. This recent shooting wasn't snt the result of lax gun laws, the father in the picture was aware of his kid being a probable threat and made the wrong choice of giving said kid a gun. That's what should be condemned.
