This was my Dad’s favorite song. As he was dying he was so restless and everyone had left the room. I gathered him in my arms, put my mouth next to his left ear and started to sing. Before too long he settled down and he was so calm. Just a couple of hours later he was gone. I’m so glad I sang this song to him!
Sitting on my porch this morning thinking of this song. Also my dad sang this many times at church. He passed away this pass April. Reading this comment by you brought tears thinking of my sweet dad. ❤️

This sweet lady has had a song for me at my midnight cries for the last 50 years... while my boyfriend was in Vietnam, my Mom’s nervous breakdown, my only child’s terminal cancer (that God healed for His Glory) , my boyfriend/husband death from Vietnam related illness and I have never lost hope , peace and comfort because my God is Faithful and sent me a Song Singers that give me JOY.

I think she sang this song for me. The last year the storms raged through my life. I watched this Video and sang along with her over and over on a daily basis, and cried from beginning to end. At the foot of the cross I don't live, but my Godly grandmother's grace and the hollow of his hand has brought me to a safer place. Vestal you were and great influence and your legacy lives on. Vestal Goodman reminds me so much of Kate Smith, two of the loveliest and God gifted female voices I have ever heard.
I remember when i was a young boy. We would watch them on sunday mornings when were getting ready for church. No body in my house spoke while they sang. God bless them in heaven.

What a voice !! This is surely my most favorite gospel singer. Singing with such emotion .I thank God for those who proclaim his care and love for us in music
I saw Vestal and the rest of the Goodmans, many times as a teenager growing up. They were probably my mother's favorite group when I was a kid. They came many times to the Veteran's Memorial Field House in the 70's. I was not huge fan of southern gospel music at the time, but now many years later, I realize what a phenomenal group they were.

The Happy Goodmans were my Dad's favorite band and I remember listening to them as a child. The memories of those times and how simple life was brings me to tears.
