  • In this video I discuss the Solid State Logic (SSL) Fusion. I am a big fan of all things SSL related and the Fusion in my eyes ticks all the boxes as a mix bus processor for both of my studios.

Call me tight but I wouldn't buy the Fusion to get a mix ready for mastering, I make it do the bloody mastering. What else is there on a mix apart from Level Control, EQ, Compression, Colour and Width?

Do you have these symptoms? I seem to have
problem with SSL FUSION. When I remove the pen
    DRIVE counterclockwise, I have
small noise, and in the right channel it
more than on the left! This is clearly seen if
put an L2 limiter on the DAW master section, and
turn the limiter all the way.
I urgently need to find out because my SSL
    FUSION is still under warranty!

The noise in the drive section is normal. More on one side than the other, that's not normal of mine. Try switching your cables round and see if the noise switches sides. This isolates if its the unit or the cables.

Amazing chain , but how do you use the MS matrix of FUSION on so many other units , when it has inputs for only one unit !?

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  3 года назад

The m/s input is a chain. So you can have a chain of multiple units that are dual mono.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio How do you connect other units in this chain , you use another device ? Thanks man

No it's a chain you just connect to the next unit. Once audio is converted to mid and side it passes through a chain of units that are dual mono until it returns back to the fusion to be decoded back to stereo left and right.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio Amazing ,so everything after Fusion becomes MS when engaged ! Now i understand why you use it first ;)

Not everything after the fusion. You would go stereo in to fusion. Out the ms insert to ms units. Then back into the ms return. Then out the fusion stereo out.

While i understand that you are a mastering engineer, i wonder what you even bought the Fusion for if you don't seem to use any of it's functionality except the EQ. That's a pretty discouraging review.

The M/S insert. Name another unit with a M/S insert at £1600? The EQ is great and the stereo imager is great. But for £1600 to add mid side to your mastering chain. The unit is worth having just for that alone.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio OK cool. I just want all the features and a lot of saturation :-)
