The best money tracker I ever used, was a simple 3x5 spiral notebook. It was easy to carry so I could record every expense when it happened, durable enough, and quick to use without causing a distraction. It seems like a phone would be good since I always have it, but in practice every time I turn on my phone I get distracted and may even forget to do what I intended when I started.
The pictured "hunk of junk" car looks like a serious sleeper to me...

Mostly because they go broke.
We shut our cable and net off about 6 years ago when the bill hit $205 pm !!! We use out ph for everything now. It's faster and I cast it to my TV:-) less than $70 per mo unlimited everything for us seniors here in fla :-)

I'm in Japan, and the melons are not like the ones in the picture.
Yes, they are expensive but they are given as a gift, say if you visit someones house or something, a little like a bottle of wine.
Some are $200 but most are about ¥5000 ($35)
They also taste amazing. People don't eat them on the regular.
Split between 8 or so servings the price is not too ridiculous, I maybe eat them once a year or so if I am lucky.

STORY Rc cars. Great deals and limited editions. I could almost double the money spent because of the value after cars are sold out initially. Lol

Not quite related but I have a ton of Hess trucks that were initially bought with the idea of being a collectors item. Turns out it’ll probably take another 50 years to be worth much of anything 😅
I think it is driven by wanting to be better than others or keep up with others. No worse feeling than seeing someone you grew up with driving a nice new car (that you know they spend $700 a month for 72 months for) but you are stuck with your $6000 sedan that has hail damage. This is what makes us American's decide to get that "new car"
This is a dumb question, but for ETFs vs Stocks, if you bought the same stocks at the same percentages for an ETF like schd... would you make the same amount or more over time?
I am still young (16), so do you think this also applies to me the same, for example at the age of 30?

I don't get that shoppers high. Never have. I hate spending money. So for me it takes a lot to get my wallet to open. Like your car example. Never been tempted by that car. Not to say I haven't made bad purchases. But usually. When I buy a car. I've litterly researched it for years. I do not understand impulse buying. My brain does not work that way. The more pressure to buy. Or that charismatic sales person. Those things make me stop. Lock up my wallet. And completely loose interest in purchasing anything. All your sales and marketing techiques. They work against you on me. I either ignore everything you say and do my own research. Or I remember everything you say. Research what you've said. And I will hold it against you when your wrong. And not buy. I do not trust anyone in sales and I assume they are lying 120% of the time. It works more in your favor to say nothing. And remove yourself from the situation. Your more likely to cause me to delay purchasing. Or. Prevent me entirely from purchasing.

Index funds? Crypto? Individual shares?
If you're investing hoping to make 8% while making minimum payments on a 29% credit card balance, you're overinvesting.
