Having him not be raised in the Red Keep probably helped. Also, if he's sixteen, either Alicent had Aemond and Daeron together, or she and Viserys made him right after Aemond was born.
Aemond got bullied and then his eye was taken away.
Aegon became alcoholic because he was the first firstborn in the Targaryen family and in the whole Westeros who wasn't named heir + he married his sister at 15
Alicent paranoia and lack of affection played it's role but Daeron just didn't get to much pressure as a 3rd son, which let him grow healthier.

The other two dragons Vermithor and Silverwing actually did have riders. Vermithor was ridden by King Jaehaerys, the king at the beginning of the show that picked Viserys to be the king, and Silverwing was ridden by his wife Alysanne.
Plus seasmoke’s rider is not dead that’s why he flies around trying to find him. Remember Laenor sailed away faking his death. The other dragons had riders who died so they just chill until someone tries to bond with them.

@gilinyagah Only Rhaenyra and Daemon would know about Laenor being alive. Nobody is going to mention his death because they think he already is. And the dragon's are psychically linked to their riders, so Seasmoke would've felt his rider's death. Now that I think about it, Seasmoke was probably mourning Laenor.
@@gilinyagah so apparently dragons can’t bond with anyone else unless their rider is deceased. So I guess that confirms that he had an off screen death. In the book he does in fact die instead of a secret getaway.

Sad part is I think the Knight probably could've claimed another dragon but Seasmoke seems to have preferences. He likes that sea faring life and Velaryon blood. Hell, he went out and found Laenor's half brother to replace him and he's been eyeing him for awhile. There's some interesting talk that this might mean Laenor's died wherever he is. Mainly because it's not known if dragons can have two riders at once and it's been over 10 years.
Laenor might have died...the Free Cities have some dangerous places...
That's probably what they were hinting at with the whole "seasmoke is restless" a few episodes ago since it's been established that the bond between dragon and dragon rider goes beyond regular pet-owner bonds, it's more of a soul bond
Laenor is dead, without a doubt, that's why he'd grown restless, since dragon and rider are psychically linker. Also, Steffon would have had better luck with Seasmoke than Vermithor and Silverwing. Vermithor is an ornery old bull, and the second largest of the Targaryen dragons, that even made Daemon stand still, and is feral enough that he nearly killed RHAENA *TARGARYEN* when she tried to claim him. Silverwing is the calmer of the two, but is still as old as her husband, and as feral, so not much better.

He would need to cross the entirety of Westeros for that, and pass Harrenhal in the process. Tactically, it's better he not do that and ensure he and Vhagar aren't forced into being encircled by the Blacks.
The Hull Boys are pure and good, and have never done anything wrong. Really loving Addam and Alyn.
Addam was kinda annoying and immature in the latest episodes, he kept on pushing his brother to go fight in another war so that they can benefit from it, but he himself does nothing. But I have heard good things about his development, I hope he matures now that he is important
@@tetanosmatatas2018 it's because his brother is the only one who's given opportunities to actually prove himself but Alynn doesn't keep high hopes unlike Addam. Addam is still a really cool and loyal character despite being a complainer. I guess he got it from his uncle Vaemond.
A lot of people forget Aemond is untouchable, Vhagar is basically their only piece and without her it’s an automatic loss so even if Aegon says something no one with a brain will do anything to Aemond
There are a lot of great scenes in this episode. Larys inspiring and relating to Aegon, Gawain telling Alicent about her good son, and of course Rhaenyra and Mysaria making out.

I’ve always been a fan of Daemon (despite his rogue tendencies) but seeing him dream about his brother then waking up and truly mourning him made me truly love him. It also reinforces my belief that Paddy Considine was absolutely robbed of an Emmy nomination.
This is nice to see tbh, most people hate Daemon's spooky adventures either because they are bored of it or because they see it as emasculation and "ruining" Daemon as a character, as if this wasn't always a part of him beneath all his bravado

Thing about dragons is they can smell the blood Targaryen so the fact that Seasmoke has been scouting out the town for awhile shows that he was scoping that shit out.
Velaryons *are* from Old Valyria. But on top of that, they've been intermarrying with the Targaryens the moment the latter came to Dragonstone. It's safe to say that despite being a Velaryon bastard and not related to Rhaenys, Addam has a significant amount of Targaryen blood via Corlys, even though Corlys himself never rode a dragon.

@@refilwe9954 truthfully, it’s both. Having Valyrian blood gives you a boost, but it’s not a deciding factor, which Nettles displays in F+B. A commoner of unknown blood origin, and she becomes the rider of Sheepstealer. It’s honestly the reason why I’m pissed Rhaena is going to get Sheepstealer. Addam of Hull, while certainly having the sort of will and disposition that would attract a dragon as a rider candidate, has Valyrian blood- both via the Velaryons and the Targaryens, because Corlys has Targ blood in him as well. The Velaryons and the Targs have intermarried ever since the latter came to Westeros after the Doom.
It’s also why I’m pissed Jace has that line in the trailer. Addam fits the bill for a dragon rider both in blood and in personality. Maybe Jace is pissed because Addam isn’t of noble blood 😂
In which case I have no sympathy for him. I get his frustration with his mom’s lack of action so far (I’m irritated too), but Jace is a privileged twit. Displayed best in episode one with Cregan

The two dragons who don't have riders currently, Vermithor and Silverwing, were the dragons of the King and Queen before Viserys, the Old King Jahaerys and his wife Alyssane.
The scene right before she mentions the cricket stopped singing, Gawain was talking to Alicent about Daeron having a lute, or being a singer....
Ewan Mitchell said in an interview that the reason Aemond took Alicent off the council is because she's the only one who can influence him, and he's aware of that and doesn't want to be perceived as weak for always taking his mother's advice. I do not think that was conveyed well in the scene but it actually makes a lot of sense.

29:23 the dragons aren’t trapped, they come and go as they please, mostly. They never go too far from where they nest.
The dragons like being in the cave, because it's actually dormant volcano on Dragonstone. So it's very hot, and the dragons find that comforting. The dragons Silverwing and Vermithor did have riders before, but every dragon is different, and they are not as insistent to get a rider as Seasmoke was.
The 2 other dragons in the cave (Vermithor and Silverwing) both had riders who have died. Their riders were the King and Queen that ruled right before Viserys.
Fun fact: Both those dragons are said to always accompany each other like they are partners just like their riders were. This is the only documented case of dragons giving a crap about one another.
There were three cicadas, cicadas stop chirping once they have mated - Seasmoke chose his rider, vermithor and sheepstealer have yet to be claimed!

Fun fact: In the books Ser Steffon Darklyn was the one who brought Viserys' crown to Rhaenyra. Also he didn't have any Targaryen blood, he juts tried his luck his Seasmoke
The book never gives any reason why he tried his luck. Much of it is meant to be intentionally vague. This as good an explanation as any, absent a canonical one.

Alys Rivers has become one of my favorite characters, she's so oddly arrogant and mysterious. The very first time I saw her, she just walks in, glaring at everybody while they are all bending the knee to Daemon. She treats Daemon Targaryen like he's a wayward child and walks around like she owns Harrenhal Castle. No one ever confronts her about anything, plus she can control owls. Is Alys Rivers even her real name, who or what is she, in reality?

30:20 Vermithor and Silverwing had bonds as well. They were the dragons of King Jaeherys (the old king from the beginning of episode 1 of season 1) and his wife Queen Alysanne. They've been riderless since their riders died. Never took another rider after them.
