Ah that opening battle, so many memories; love the dark spawn they are like the orcs but not which is terrifying
locusts from gow and orcs
Indeed Lord Inquisitor, indeed...
Every time you said ‘taint’ I burst out laughing, “they were all connected by the taint”, haha I’m too immature for this lol
hehe
Why. Are you five?
LoL
I still say Origins is the best of the 3. Looking forward to the next video
I agree, but damn was it hard to play. 2nd and Inq were way easier to get into.
to each his own I suppose, never liked most of the changes save some the visual changes and that was mostly the weapons and armor designs. Hated the re-designs for the Darkspawn though
widgren87 redesigns for 'spawn were garbo. I'm just talking about mechanics, though.
Armour and weapons were nice in 2nd and Inq, but I missed dual wielding sword/dagger, and animations were off in 2nd and Inq.
call it personal preference but I never really liked those changes either. Let us just agree that some things worked and some did not, how about that?
widgren87 What are we agreeing to disagree on? How difficult I personally found Origins to be? Lol
grey wardens are so intesting it would be really cool if you could go more in deepth with the lore of them
sounds good! adding it to the list now, thanks :)
it would a bit hard to do seeing as the original founders of the order were wiped out during the first blight taking most of thier knowledge with them and leaving what was left with the second generations who were very good losing infomation. what always got me is that part of the Joining Ritual require a drop of blood from the archdemon yet the first grey wardens were able to do it.
@@filmcomicsexplained They are scum played dark spawan chronicles scum
I only playe Dragon Age inquisition so this is really educational about the darkspawn.
Also I don't know if this work in all games but in DAI they called your character Herald Of Andraste so just a for laughs I named my character "Harold" and oh boy I have never been so happy everytime an NPC greets me and ask me are you "The Herald" because the way they pronounce that word its basically sounds like Harold, so in my head I am "The Harold of Adraste".
lol awesome dude!
So sorry you played the 2nd-worst out of the 3.
EcchiRevenge I got the Game of the year Edition for like $10-15 in one of those year end sale in Microsoft Store, I just 100% the shit out of that game and unlock all achievements lol
Ahhh... nothing like an ice cold beer after a long day of work. And chillin to my favorite youtube channel. Great way to start the night.😊
Awesome dude! enjoy :)
You look like you're 14.
Daniel Bray 27 this april actually XD.
But thanks for the complement:)
They live off “The Taint”? Lol 😂. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!
@CaptAssassin I specifically paused and scrolled down to see if anyone got a chuckle out of that.
Lol, yeah someone did!
I don't get it
@@Bruh-hq1hx You’re not old enough
@@andygygi5135 just tell me the reference
Been a fan of your work since The Thing days. Was so happy to see a video on the Darkspawn because it reminds me how much I love Dragon Age (& killing darkspawn) and how creepily and horribly well they are written as monsters. Always looking forward to your next video. :)
Awesome to hear Constella! And yeh killing them darkspawns is heaps of fun!! :)
Undead Cursed, Dark Souls... would be an awesome topic for a video.
havent played that one yet! But wil add it to the list and take a looksy, thanks mate :)
Oh boy, the Dark Sign is something to look into mate
Footnotes version...
- Curse manifests as a ring of fire on one's skin, in front of and behind the heart. It's only visible when hollows, as the flesh around it twists towards it. It is never stated how it is transmitted, but it is described as a mark that "Brands" the Undead.
- Cursed individuals are incapable of death. They can die temporarily, but will always return to life at a Bonfire no matter how much their body was destroyed. They are, as a result, known as the Undead
- Each "Death" causes the decay of one's soul, causing their bodies to rot even as they walk around. They shrivel up and start craving souls, though they can return to a Human form until their next death. If DS2 is anything to go off of, if they continue to bear souls within their flesh they will never lose their minds.
- Undead can use the souls of slain enemies to strengthen themselves, becoming more intelligent, able to take more punishment, wield heavier weapons and armor, etc. They can also transfer souls to others, causing souls to become a de facto currency amongst Undead infested ruins. Should an Undead die, the souls they carry in their blood will be left behind where they died and can be retrieved if they return without dying a second time on the way
- If an Undead loses their will to live, loses their reason to keep existing, their hunger for souls will consume their minds and leave them a broken shell, mindlessly attacking anything they see to feed on their souls. They do not lose their ability however, and many of the "Hollowed" can be seen casting magic, performing acrobatic maneuvers, setting ambushes and traps, etc.
- Most Undead carry flasks of an orange, glowing liquid known as Estus, something that replenishes after death depending on the quality of the Flask or strength of the last bonfire rested at. It is, perhaps, liquid warmth from the Bonfire and is drunk to heal Undead in the middle of battle. Estus can be nullified by throwing special talismans used by those hunting the Undead. It is also apparently capable of allowing Undead to enjoy food and drink if used as an ingredient, in the form of Siegbrau and Estus Soup, both created by Siegmund of Catarina during the most recent cycle of flame
Nice video about it and can you make a video about the Venatori or Red Templars in Dragon Age: Inquisition
sounds good! adding it to the list now, thanks :)
especially Red lyrium and red templars!
I loved the first Dragon Age. Great game. And if more info on this particular virus becomes available, you could do the Chimera Virus from Rainbow Six Siege. It's origin is rather cliche, but what it does to people is really cool and there is a little bit of interesting lore for it already.
Yes mate its on the list, thanks :)
A video about the grey wardens would be awesome.
Consider it done! will add it to the list now, thanks :)
A video about Lyrium would bring in the Dragon Age crowd to your channel! ^_^
interesting! wil add that to the list now lol :)
Awesome! Dragon Age Origins was my first encounter with RPG's.. Fell in love every since so I'll be watching every video if you make more :D
Amazing video man, I loved the dragon age series! In War, Victory. In Peace, Vigilance. In Death, Sacrifice!
Thanks mate, me too!!
The more the old gods do, the more they are forgotten. The less the maker does, the more he is believed.
Purge the unclean.
Daimon Virus bombing?
FEV from fallout series
yes mate its on the list! :)
Darkspawn intelligence beyond the disciples and two of the Magisters sidereal usually involves a lot of taunting and wearing the body parts of victims as jewelry.
You're gaining subscriber's really fast man congrats.
Thanks Matt!
This is actually one of my favorite channels!
Dragon Age!!!! Yes!!!!!
Did i just find another fan of the amazing Dragon Age games?
I love the darkspawn because they're so evil. There's no grey or moral questioning, they don't have feelings or loved ones. They just kill and corrupt. They're the perfect backdrop for the setting since it puts everything else into perspective, reminding us what true evil is when we look at 'bad' characters.
since you have done the dark spawn you might need to do the blight itself as that has a big way into other topics in the series. you forgot to mention that depending what broodmother it is determined the type of dark spawn it produces and that they from the female races, example dwarves produce the genlocks the human make the hurlocks elves make the shricks and qunari make the ogres
I know it's not a film or a comic but can you do a video on rainbow 6 sieges virus in the new outbreak mode. The chimera virus came from a USSR space capsule and landed in New Mexico. It then was hauled to a junkyard by a man named Boyd brooks and he was patient zero. Then what happend is the next clip you see is everyone has a small patch or something in a hospital and Boyd walks in, with spikes coming out and his eyes turn red. I think this could be an interesting topic to explore as the game doesn't elaborate much on it but I would like a video on this I think a lot of others would too
Ah man. You definitely should've taken some time to talk about the brood mothers and how they come into being. Really dark stuff and exemplifies how terrible the Darkspawn are.
Origins was one of my favorite games of all time, thanks for the video! :)
Enchanting?
ENCHANTING!
zintosion
It's Enchantment.
Enchantment! !
Yes! thats it. I've forgotten been awhile XD
I’m sad they didn’t include him in Dragon Age Inquisition
Not enchantment.
Aww the little boyy
Hearing your voice make me wish I could talk like that, not too annoying or too something(can't think of anything else) like that just right 10/10 keep up the good work with these kinds of videos
aww thanks dude, but im sure you can do the same with a bit of practice :)
FilmComicsExplained maybe...
I would love watching the cinematics of this game on the couch with an iced tea on my right hand.
What I always loved about the series lore is : nothing is permanent and ever since the greatest reveals at Inquisition made me love the game even more.
There is so much more to explore about the Darkspawn, like the whole making Broodmothers, and how the taint effects Gray Wardens. I loved the longer lore and comic explanations like with what you did with the Alien franchise. Any way you could do something similar soon? (Dragon age or mass effect or anything like that)
Would of been nice to go into the bit about how they reproduce with different broodmothers.
Perfect timing I have to say, I just finished a full playthrough including all the DLC yesterday
Unexpected, though nice to see.
I surprised that there a lack of mentions on the Broodmothers of the Darkspawn. Captured women turned advanced Ghouls as they may be, they are still quite essential to the survival of the Darkspawn in general as they are what keeps their armies so numerous. Each Broodmother is capable of spawning thousands of Darkspawn and depending of the species of the captured female determines which common varient of Darkspawn is born. An Elven Broodmother will spawn Shrieks, a Dwarven Broodmother, Genlocks, a Human Broodmother, Hurlocks, and finally a Qunari or Kossith Broodmother leads to Ogres.
Also cool side note, there numerous wildlife that can be infected by the taint become ghouls, such as Blight Wolves, Blight Owl, Blood Crows, Corrupted Spiders and even the mighty Bereskarn or Dragon Thralls.
Future video perhaps?
I love the dragon age series I have all of them and almost all dlc
Yes! Thank you so much
What if an Old God isn't Corrupted?
Then they stay as they are and dont become archdemons :)
So are they Inherently good? Since Rumor is they taught Man magic? I've always liked that Quote at the end of Dragon age Inquisition.
"Dumat, Lord if you exist - if you ever existed - lend me your aid now!"
Love your videos btw - can you do PLEASE do the Rakghoul Plague from star wars?
and it remains asleeps singing it tune
Lawful evil vs Chaotic Evil
They remain imprisoned. If they were freed but not corrupted they would likely just be powerful dragons. Though the old gods have been sealed away for millennia so it is hard to say for sure. Fun fact: there are only 7 old gods and there ha e been 5 blights, so a maximum of 2 more can occur. No one can say what will happen to the Darkspawn when the remaining 2 die
Loved playing the dragon age games the dark spawn were badasses to fight at times, but my favourites was dragon age 2 and dragon age inquisition
Ah, the dragon age origins, the sweet memories
Nice video! I would love to see one on Red Lyrium. Or why dragons are were found to be resistant to the taint. Solas would also be cool to take a deeper look at.
All I can think about is how Alex Mercer (if he ever was transported to Thedas) would react to the news of a blight like a foodie who was just informed that there's a free all-you-can eat buffet in the area....
Hey I'm not if anyone had suggested this or not....
Can you cover the 'Green Flu' (Infection) from the Left 4 Dead series? I have noticed it has some slight similarities to the Rage virus in the 28 Days Later series.
Except it turns some people into elite zombies like Tanks, Smokers, Witches, Boomers, Hunters, Chargers, Spitters, & Jockeys.
Can you cover it? Please pretty please?
Thank you for this! 🖤
you're welcome!
You should make one about the grey apes that eat humans in the movie CONGO its kind of old but its good
If you think about it the Dark spawn are similar to the Reapers. Both from BioWare and both games having the same type of format.
Are you going to talk about the DarkSpawn Broodmother as well?
Great video. I wonder why you have never done any videos on The Darkness or The Witchblade? Would be cool.
Weeping angels from Doctor Who
Amazing video as always.
You should do the “Las Plagas” from RE4
Could you do a video on the Darkspawn broodmothers? How darkspawn reproduce is interesting and terrifying lore in itself, but the broodmother in the Awakening dlc and her relation to the origin of the darkspawn is very compelling.
Do the Fade please
Hey buddy, will add that to the list now, thanks :)
Hey i really love your channel and want to say good job keep up the excellent work.
cheers mate!
Nice video can't wait for more Dragon Age. Please do the Dark Ones from the Metro books/Games :D
great vid plus I recommend that you look into the frenzy virus featured in monster hunter 4 ultimate
Venatori, red Templars, Abominations, theres so much you can cover in the Dragon age Series
Yes I was hoping you'd do dragon age!
I was hoping you would go into detail on how the darkspawn are created, but since you did at some point in the future can you do a video on the broodmothers if you haven't already done that?
Sure buddy, will add that to the list :)
I was waiting for mention of the Broodmothers as well. Not to mention the Architect and Corypheus. Important players within the Darkspawn aside from the Arch Demons themselves.
WraithReaper09
Same.
do the Grey Wardens next. Top quality video!
these games are amazing
Gotta say DA 2 was kinda bad in my opinion but Origins and Inquisition were awesome!
i can't wait for the next one! (if there is ofc)
Rubber Ducky DA 2 was great but it was held back by not being free roam enough
KekMeisterAUS It did massive improvements over Origins but was the first game to make me legitimately angry because the plot refused to move forward from a hidden objective.
Explain The brood mother. Nightmare fuel right there
Great vid about a truely scary force in the dragon age universe
Thanks Darian!
Welcome man
FilmComicsExplained can you a video on the chimera from resistance
YES I LOVE YOU FOR THIS. i never understood the whole darkspawn story
Wait does this mean corypheas controls one of the old gods in inquisition?
If I remember correctly its a False Archdemon since another Blight hadn't started. I think it was because he placed some of his life force into the Dragon itself.
I can't help but be a little childish when you mention "the Taint". Hopefully I'm not alone 🤣
*In Peace, Vigilance*
*In War, Victory*
*In Death, Sacrifice*
"This is what it means, to be a Grey Warden"
Please Explain/Explore The Witcher and their powers and ways or story, please. Thank you
Still gotta finish this series. Been on the "to do list" for a while now.
This is fantastic mate, well done.
Thanks buddy!
The Dragon Age games, with all their faults, have pretty interesting lore. Your work is appreciated.
I just wanted to askWhat are all the tracks you use over this? The OST of the entire franchise combined is a bit much to dig through rn but honestly these are all good listening
Hey do only do infections and a request is the chimera from the resistance series
Hey Darian, Im open to all suggestions, and chimera is on the list already, thanks :)
FilmComicsExplained cool
+FilmComicsExplained
Could you also go into the lore of the Different Races of The Dragon Age Universe.
Please. I'll give you a 🍺
sure mate, will add it that suggestion to the list now :)
Great video fam, love the DA series.
This video could easily span like 10 vids so much on darkspawn they covered like 3 of the games
This video was well laid out and good quality but the archdemons did not teach the first mages they taught the first blood mages how to use blood magic
this game is amazing.. with mods even more fun after playing the original! mage/warrior was great ^^
Thank you for doing this! This game is so epic in its lore!
Would really love to see a video about the Wraiths from Stargate: Alantis.
Cool video man! :) I'd love to see you cover the gas mask zombies from Doctor Who (the Chula Virus) or the Boneless from Doctor Who :)
Brilliant! will add those to the list now, thanks mate :)
Awesome video,I always wanna know about the dark spawns in the dragon ages franchise, hey can you that about the story about then reapers from mass effect trilogy please.
You should do the Elvhen Gods. It might be a longer video though cause there is so much information on them and hidden secrets also you should probably put a spoiler warning for those who have not finished or played Inquisition.
The Veil, itself would be a good complex topic.
Can you do the parasites from parasyte? They are incredible creatures.
sure buddy! Will add it to the list now, thanks :)
Omg yes!!!!
Great video, and even though it is newly created the virus features in rainbow six sieges outbreak would be interesting to see a video on
The one you linked to isn't about the dark spawn. It's more about shades, mages and templars and how to stop the breach.
Genlock - Dwarves
Hurlock - Humans
Shriek - Elves
Ogre - Qunari
Halo and Dragon Age are my favorite game series, period.
The wild hunt or higher vampires from the witcher.
Try the golems next if you need a idea
sounds good! adding it to the list now, thanks :)
Lake Placid brooo another good one??
Having never played DA but hearing bits and pieces here and there, it sounds to me these things are like the Orcs from LOTR. Twisted and deformed monsters bred to serve as foot soldiers of the ancient evil (Archdemon/Dark Lord). However, whilst the Orcs have personalities and identities of their own, the Darkspawn instead function on a hive mind, suppressing most of their individuality.
Dragon Age is one of the few series that probably followed the original idea of Tolkien’s orcs closely, where as others tended to remake them into barbarians or proud warriors.
Yeah I played the first two games but I didn’t understand the plot back then... I was like Dragons,Magic,hero... bang B)
Now I know better though, love the lore in this series!
I probably watch gameplay . Thanks!!!
Ah the darkspawn so many memories
Video suggestion: Elder Dragons -Monster Hunter series
I hope you can do a piece over the symbiote suits from the Spiderman universe.
Could you do the dark ones from the metro series. Metro has my favorite story and I would love it if you could do them.
yes mate its on the list! :)
FilmComicsExplained That's good to hear and thanks for listening to your community.
Can’t wait for this one!
Awesome vid! If you do another dragon age vid, the avvar would make a good vid
Hey saul, will add that to the list now, thanks :)
This pronunciation of Thedas made me so uncomfortable but this is very thorough
Could you do a in-depth lore video for the prototype series? I don't know of many good ones if you know of one link would also be nice. That being said one of the first open world games I ever played on a console.
Fun fact Dragon Age 4 will be set in Tevinter, so hopefully we're finally get the real answer to where the darkspawn came from and how to finish them off for good.
Plague of Undeath from Warcraft
no mention of broodmothers and how different kinds of them produce different darkspawn? shame, cool video tho
