I learned to knit when I was little and I would get so frustrated when I dropped stitches. The impulse is to start all over. My grandmother, who taught me to knit, would often fix them for me. She tried to teach me but I was young and frustrated. Now she’s passed away and, as an adult, I’m knitting again. I desperately wanted to ask her to teach me, but obviously I can’t do that. So, thank you for teaching me! She’d be so proud that I didn’t give up and start over. This was such a helpful tutorial ❤
Thanks for this video. I learned to knit from you in 2019 and I'm currently knitting my 7/8th sweaters. Fixing dropped stitches purl-wise has always confused me so I simply turn the work around, fix them knitwise, turn the work back around and move the fixed stitch to the correct needle. This video is very useful because now I understand. You're an excellent teacher.
Thank you for this video. Crocheter learning to knit.. only for this video had no clue what i was seeing in my practice piece nor how to fix the dropped stitch.... thank you very much♡♡♡
Been knitting for some years… not overly successful but live staying with the English thrower stitch… other styles hurt my head… stumbled across this channel and was delighted to see good old much critiqued thrower technique for garter.. any so yeah tuning into this channel to refresh basics and learn new tips, I thoroughly enjoyed the simplicity of this and hope it continues. I am 65 and this is my big thing to move forward but cannot stand loads of jabbering.
Hi Laura. So nice to see you again! I hope you are well! Great tutorial! I’m sure this will be so helpful for so many. When I first learned how to knit many moons ago I was so afraid of dropping a stitch. Not anymore, lol. Thanks for sharing!💞
I was exactly the same! I used to just undo everything lol I think that's why I've always preferred crochet but I absolutely have the confidence now to fix my work, it makes such a huge difference ☺️🙏
I cant believe im early! You are so helpful, knitting, crocheting, doing art, you are all great at. Your tutorials are amazing and slow paced and perfect Thank you for your help, You helped alot of people crochet and knit including me !! ❤️
For the beautiful Celtic unfinished cable can you not make more scarves and the pick up and knit to calm down the flapping or grafting them.. I live celtic cable
I haven't as I don't have the patience lol but if I was I'd opt for a chunky yarn, working something similar to my Cable Poncho which you might find useful.
It would be useful if you could show the whole process when a dropped stitch is only noticed after completing a row. I don't know how to unpick stitches without losing them entirely. I suppose I need an idiot's guide to knitting. Otherwise this is a good channel.
I think follow the same principle, find where it should sit and pop it on your needle when you reach that point no matter the row you're on, if that makes sense! You can see I've knitted a few rows after the stitch was dropped.
Thank you. The bane of my short lived knitting life has been dropped stitches. You are on my saved videos 🙏
Clearest demonstration I've seen so far. Thank you

Aww I'm glad you found this useful! Yes, I'd always recommend just turning your work over and fixing knit wise, sooo much easier! ☺️
