    I really dont see the point in the pulley dropper when you can just use a up and over and get a much longer hook length

    Ive watched a load of sea fishing vids on here and to see a local boy produce a vid like this is second to none! What a watch dean fair play bud. In some parts I was in fits of laughter 😂. Also what an educational video for up and coming anglers. I'm now watching all your posts and can't fault them bud. Keep on catching them DAAAAGGGIIIEEES fella. Tight lines bud. My top three angling post's on here are DEAN BOOKER - RIVERSIDE WITH ME - PINNACLE ANGLING. All the Welsh 😁 Oi oiiiiiiiiiii

    I agree with you Dean on the pulley dropper, I’ve tried them had no joy on them whatsoever plus they kink your rig body and prone to damaging it I’ve found, pulley or up and over every time for rays and hounds 👍🏻

    Great video. I’m constantly perplexed at the differences between fishing in the UK, and the states. The rigs are extremely complex, I’m sure that it has a lot to do with conditions there, but you don’t see all of that elastic, and hardware here. (New England USA).
    On a separate note, I don’t see many UK anglers keeping their catch to eat. Are there regulations against it? I eat everything, skate, dogfish, congers. All of those are considered trash fish here, but prepared correctly are quite delicious.
    Cheers.

    • @Chris_Rog
      @Chris_Rog Год назад +1

      I've also found the differences between US and UK techniques interesting. Where Dean is fishing here there is a massive tidal range. The difference between low and high is about 26 ft. There are very strong currents as a result and without the bait elastic the bait would just be ripped off the hook. Also there are areas that are very rocky along this coastline hence the need for specialist rigs to avoid the snags.We don't tend to eat dogfish and congers in the UK - probably due to our unadventurous tastes - however dogfish are sometimes sold as "rock salmon" for eating. There are laws about what size fish you can keep with practically every species having a minimum size for retention. Bass are catch and release only for at least part of the year and congers really shouldn't be removed over here as due to their breeding cycle no conger in the UK will have reproduced yet (they swim your way when they're mature to breed and then die). If anyone's interested in the size limits for retention there is guidance here; britishseafishing.co.uk/minimum-size-limits-for-shore-caught-fish/

      @@Chris_Rog Hey thanks for the reply! 26 feet?? Wow. Thanks for that explanation, I knew there must have been good reasons for the differences.
      I knew that American eels traveled from freshwater into the depths of the ocean to breed, I did not know this about Congers. I also wouldn’t have known that they die after breeding.

    Anchovies from the Med bo. We know them more has the little salted fillets on a seafood Pizza, or in a Puttanesca. I like them personally, I'm always in Morrison first thing on a Monday picking up a couple of Herring for 50p, see if they if they got any Anchovies going.
