I just noticed this charizard does the flee animation but does not run away. Then after a couple of ultraballs flees! I'm wondering what could happen .-. ruclips.net/video/818eCsHvryc/видео.html --> The exact second.
This makes so much sense! I always get a wave of anxiety right before a pokemon runs away, so I think my brain subconsciously noticed this. Thank you for bringing this to light; now I don't feel so crazy
Unfortunately there's not much you can do when it's a shiny. I just had a shiny Gastly insta-break a Ultra Ball first throw and flee before I could even throw another. Four hours of hunting wasted. It's absolutely infuriating.
@PartyPancham Seriously though. It's my only critique about the game, really. In the main series games, as long as you didn't faint the shiny and as long as it didn't kill itself, you were pretty much good to go but in Let's Go, even if it took you 12 hours to find a shiny, it has the possibility of running away instantly which kiiiiiinda kills any / all motivation to keep going. I turned my Switch off after the Gastly ran from me lol.
It's also the only time a Pokemon does an animation and cry but doesn't remove the catch circle. So if you see it move and don't lose the circle, just run.
The titles of your videos seem like they’re clickbait, but every time I’m really impressed with the content. Only discovered you today, but I’ll definitely subscribe!
Do I understand this correctly? If you run away while the pokémon you're combo'ing is running away your able to keep the chain going? @@richardbenjocaranay2841
Brandon dude I was hunting magicarp for about 5 hours and I NEVER found one I was so pissed if I forgot to save so rip all that magicarp candy I could’ve at least used to make a op magicarp 😭😭😭
Another comment mentioned that the way to tell the difference when it’s a Pokémon with only one animation is if the circle goes away or not. If it disappears it’s an attack, if it stays it means it is about to flee
So glad someone FINALLY made a video on this. I noticed it pretty early in my hunts, but I had no means of getting this out into the public. Sometimes the animation is not a special animation though (like Horsea, as it's animation is the exact same), so just look out for the circle. Anyways, thanks for making this known!! :)
Nicely made video dude, quick, clean and to the point. Actually informative too, I didnt catch it was the animation though! Thought it was just the cry on its own lol, and had no idea that was before it was gonna flee, awesome vid
i realized that, before you throw the first pokemon, the pokemon never runs away. So, to keep my combo safe, I hit flee every time i dont catch the pokemon in the first atempt
Omg you‘re so right! I noticed this too with all the little shits that ran away from me, but didn’t make the connection! Thanks a ton, more people need to see this. Won‘t be breaking my chains anymore, I‘ll just hope no shiny does this to me, ever. 😅
Thank-you so much! I have noticed the flee animation before but i didn't know if running away broke the combo considering its the Pokemon i'm trying to catch
Nahh fam, your doing it wrong. Step 1. use both of the switch controllers to summon in player 2 Step 2. put both of the switch controllers in the metal controller that comes with it that isnt able to charge (this syncs their timings) Step 3. catch chanseys, chansey while still orange for you has the ability to run away after the second throw considering you give it enough time. I personally bounce after the first throw or if they jump too much and are too unpredictable which is maybe 10% of them Step 4. So if you never let it get past 2 throws, you never risk the chance of it bouncing on you just to begin with I recommend doing this on any hard to catch pokemon, cause wasting more than 2 throws is a waste of time and especially in chanseys case a waste of experience/time Ive had combos of over 120+ on chansey's in cerulean cave. Oh an highest experience you can get is 100000. I have never gotten more than that Light or Heavy
In case yoh didnt know you only really have to get it to 31 for shinies with at least 4 perfect stats. Anything after 31 doesnt raise your odds of finding a shiny but the higher you go the better the AVs will be. Risk vs Reward.
FoB952 especially chansey chaining in cerulean cave also gives a lot of experience and is (at least one of) the best ways of getting your pokémon to level 100, so going past 31 isnt a bad idea, considering you can get tens of thousands xp per chansey in a high combo
I had my suspicions about the relationship between the animations and the Pokémon fleeing, so you just confirmed my theory. But running away when it's going to flee... man, that's just brilliant. I probably wouldn't have thought that in a very long time. It will help a lot, thank you! 😁
I've watched three or four other videos about shiny and chansey farming, and you are the only person I've found to give this insight. 10/10, most informative video I've seen on the topic and has saved many of my Cansey chains and shiny hunts.
This is probably the very first tip from pokemon I've ever seen that isn't straight common sense or super quick to figure out without any assistance. This and probably respawning hidden items and exploits. But considering this isn't much of an exploit and more of a hidden warning to make use of, that makes it stand out. Super awesome! Thanks man
Ya know. I hate this drama in the poke tuber scene and I was on the fence about what verlis was saying but to be fair. You have actual informative videos. They cut straight to the chase. I'm glad I can finally have a channel where I can get actual information. Not that I didn't get any over there but. You're an awesome tuber. You keep at it man.
This video is awesome! Just awesome, it really helps me to chain a lot higher than before. The pokemon still run away sometimes, because I don't know the animation by heart, but I get by and my chains rise to over 100, so I'm happy. Thank you for this
Your the first to tell me the odds of a pokemon running from you in a catch in pokemon lets go out of all the youtubers. Thank you a lot, helps a lot with my approach
This is a big help. I've been wondering if there was something to that animation since it's so infrequent. I'll be able to combo Chansey with a bit more confidence now.
Thank you! I got cocky cause hunting for shiny/perfect iv bulbasaur went so easy for me but charmander and squirtle were constantly breaking my chains by running. Glad to know this new tip.
Nice video, I was hunting Chansey today as well for exp and noticed the same thing with the animation. I immediatly felt this might have something to do with running away. I didn't notice the cry though because I play it muted while I watch other things so that's also nice to know
Thanks for the video. Very helpful sir. Didn’t know Verlisify was taking your content! I feel bad for watching them now. Good to find the real channel! 💪🏻
That's the special attack animation then, the one that guarantees a run away. The first animations on the Pokedex are for physical attacks and the latter for special attacks.
Another solution is to chain up an easy-to-catch Pokemon with a low flee rate, then go onto the route you want to hunt at and either map refresh [entering/exiting a building], encounter and run away from things to get in new spawns, or just sit in place and wait for new spawns naturally. A catch combo increases your overall shiny chance, not just the chance of the Pokemon you're catching. I've done this a few times myself by chaining Caterpies in Viridian Forest, then going to another route to hunt [Got a Raticate on Route.. 8, I think? And Onix in Mt Moon that despawned on me ;;] It also helps a ton for general dex collecting, as any 31+ chain will raise the chance of the rare/special encounter of a route [ex: Chansey in Mt Moon, Charmander on Route 4] sixfold. Do keep in mind only one of these can actively spawn on a route at any given time, so if you're hunting a shiny for them, you'll want to encounter and run away from regular ones to encourage a new one to spawn in.
In case the multiple animations confuses people, here's how I know: normally when they do an animation, the catch circle goes away and you can't throw a ball or it bounces off. But when they are about to run, the catch circle stays. That's your cue to book it or give it one last chance if it's shiny.
Dude, the Shiny odds don't go up anymore after a Combo of 31. I mean, you CAN continue to catch more, like if you're in it for the experience than catch away. But if you're just Shiny hunting, then at that point you might as well use a Lure and just sit there running away from stuff until a Shiny spawns. You'll save a lot of Poké Balls that way.
Hey man just another tip related to this to share: If the Pokemon has “escaped” (cloud dust and disappeared off screen) yet you already selected run away and are at the confirmation screen, you CAN still run away first and even though it already said they escaped, your chain will continue.
During these “special animations” it seems that the circle around to pokemon still works mid-animation. So that is a good way to tell if it is doing it’s “about to run” animation
This is why I think the 1 Pokeball rule is a bit over the top. Every Pokemon, before running away, will do an attack like the video said (or one in a circle, if you can't identify the special attack), so running straight away is just making it harder and longer of a task to get shinies. If you're combo-ing a certain pokemon, you will usually recognise the flee animation, since you will probably be catching that pokemon for a while.
Also, guaranteed to work: If you ONLY throw two balls at a Pokemon, and run immediately after if you don't catch it to prevent a broken streak. I've done this many times, and it can be tedious, but I've easily kept streaks going up into the 100's. Pokemon I've noticed typically flee even directly after breaking loose from a ball with no animation or warning, so it's a good method if you haven't memorized all the animations and want to play it safe.
assuming this is the same across all pokemon, i think an alternative check for the animation is finding the same pokemon in pokemon go and when you touch that pokemon, it'll do the 'cry/'flee' animation. that way you don't have to sort through the normal animations in the let's go dex.
Fun fact, I successfully fled an encounter, and kept my combo, while the pokemon was in mid "flee". Saw as long as you "Successfully got away", it doesn't count as them fleeing, even if they are a puff of smoke (was using the pokemon ball PLUS, pressed B and A really quickly)
I remember reading somewhere that pokemon tend not to flee in the first two poke ball throws, however after 3 balls escape, it gets more prone to flee, so maybe run before it.
If you see the ring still there when they do an animation then you know it's about to run, because when they normally attack the ring disappears and your pokeballs bounce off of them, but when they do the flee animation you can still hit them.
Here’s an easier way: when the Pokémon does it’s “attack” if you see the circle, it means that it will run away. If it does it’s “attack” but has no circle, you’re safe
I did leave a like on this video because I thought it was super helpful but I was chaining for an Eevee I knew what it looked like when it was about to run but it just ran away out of nowhere without any warning so I take that like back thank you very much
