I just ate mackerel fish and tomato sauce and boiled green bananas and i cooked beans and rice earlier today.Delicious.
Voetsek, you greedy dog. 😅
My banana bunch broke due to high wind, didn't know what to do with the green bananas. Boiled they taste so very similar to potatoes!!! Absolutely delicious! Thanks :)
Thank You...All the time I've been strangling my green bananas in the boiling liquid without first cutting them down the side, until I found that they had split anyway while boiling, sometimes making a mess. Or, I could've boiled them on a few minutes longer than I should. Thanks to your video, I've added your teaching method to what I'll do differently.
Thanks for showing me something I never knew would be possible. I appreciate your video. I’m trying to eat healthy from earth not from animals. I want to gain iron in my system and this is what a brother told me this is what I needed to do.
I'm Jamaican and that's exactly how I prepare them. Traditions are forever! love mine with ackee, calaloo or steamed fish. Damn that sounds good! Making some today...I also buy n freeze when I see them on sale
How do you freeze banana please reply thnxs
Thank you. Thus wss str8 to the point. Thanks for sharing.
I cut my green bananas up and then peel them and then boil. I do that because I don’t want the pesticides to leak into my good from the banana peel.
Right, better peeled.
Too late for that chances is their already absorbed.
That's how my mom use to
Do peel first

Island vibes, yes! Great iron source. Ever used it in porridge? 👍💯
How long do we boil it ?
Apparently 15-20 minutes, I can't believe they left that information out.
@@kay9156 thank you for the answer :)
@thinkersonly1 no problem! You can also check to see if the skin is splitting open more along where it was cut, and also test with a fork!
Hello. Thank you for sharing the video. I make them once in awhile....just thought of watching a video to see how someone else prepares them. I was married to an Island man before and have cooked West Indian food for years...I love boiled green banana's and people who think they are gross just don't understand and appreciate great food from other cultures. They are closeminded people. West Indian/Jamacian food is one of my favorites to cook as well as Spanish style rice and beans. For a white woman, I can throw down in the kitchen and so can my best friend too who was married to a Jamaican too.
Thanks your taking the time to make your video! : )
Kim from Spfld MA you interested in white dongs or island dongs still ?
Haunted Goblin that’s very rude. White people and Chinese people live in Jamaica born and raised and have accents. Please get your life.
Thank you! simple
Thanks, nice video!!👍

thanks for the video please tell me how long it takes to boil the bananas?
15 to 20 minutes :D
👌👌
Hello, I attempted to boil green bananas last night and had it on high for half an hour and they were still hard. Mind you, I didn't cut them at the tips and sliced them. Can I place them back in water today, in continuing from yesterday? And please, share with me the boiling time, as all recipes I seem to have looked up don't mention that?!!??? Thanks for your time and reply! Just subbed and would love to try many of your recipes... they look so good! A tout-a-leur!
Have you tried green bananas prior to this? I think you are mistaken with what you expected. They will always be a bit had and brittle to the bite.
I'm not sure if you're aware but there are other types of cooking bananas that are more soft and mushy, and have a closer texture to a regular banana if that's what you're looking for.
No I haven't tried them before. The frying & mashing looks good, but I wouldn't know what to serve them with as a Jamaican meal. What I did was slice them real thin & deep fried them the next day, Then I mashed avocado and a banana with lemon juice and used that as a dip with the plantain chips. This was so good. Found it online as I was searching what to do next and I happened to have all the ingredients for this, it turned out so yummy!
Brigitte Lalonde Place the banana in after the water has boiled. Only place then in boiling water
Ahhh! It's been almost a year but an answer is always welcomed LOL Thanks, Dee, I will surely try it again. Enjoy your day! :-D
What’s the use of eating unwripe bananas if it loses the resistant starch by boiling, heating and cooking.
Do you think it would be just as good to steam them, instead of boil? Thanks.
Yes, just make sure they are fully cooked.
yum!
Dear friend ,you boil the banana without giving cut and observe while boiling and remove before skin get tear automatically. Mean you must remove half cooked banana. Than it becomes easier to grade it on gader.
You will learn by practice. The banana should be half cooked. Let it cool and remove the skin. It's come out easily. You grade the half cooked banana like cucumber salad. Then you mix with spices and cook. First you fry the spices than add banana. Banana is half cook , so it takes less time. Try and see.

I was surprised that you threw away the Banana water !! I thought you would of drink that as all the vitamins are in that banana water. 😄😊 🍒👍

Nice
Can you cook Ackee fruit next?
How long to boil?
Forever!
Is this how it's done in Jamaica?
Would you eat the skin after this as well??
How long do you boil them?
Thanks
Please do a salt fish video
I love green bananas! I have never cooked green bananas before though...Is it better to leave the skin on when you cook the bananas, or should you peel the skin off first?
If you are doing the thing in the video, cut off the ends of the banana and slit it, leave the skin on, but slit. Once you cook them and they are cooled I think that's when you peel the skin off.
When you boil them for 20 minutes usually the skin falls off the banana in the pot/water. If they dont fall off use a fork and gently lift the off the banana peel while in the pot. Or you can do what he does by putting them in a plate and gently squeezing them out.
Better peeled, then cooked imo. This avoids pesticides
my combo............i do it with smoked herring.
Nice Nimz, love herring.
A better way to cook these are to fry them they are so good
Hello sir aside of the green bananas I would like to ask what was beside it at the end of the video what you scooped on the plate. please advice me a thousand thanks.
Those are kidney. They go well with green banana. Thx for watching.
See Dr. Gundry's THE PLANT PARADOX for the advantages of green banana over ripe bananas and potatoes.

Everybody with their own style. But avoiding too much salt can be better for healthy lifestyle.
How long do you boil them for?
Somebody said for 15-20 minutes
So green bananas are unripe bananas right? They aee different from plantains right?
Yes green banana are different from plantains
+Jamaican Diet aw man I got the wrong bananas I got plantains ..
Well, it plantain still can be cooked, just allow it to ripe a bit. Cut it in half then cook it same way as the bananas. Will give you a sweeter taste.
Sorry to hear that, they are usually in the same area as plantains, and yams in the grocery store, just make sure the bananas are hard when you press into them.
Wil it increases my weight if I eat
💪💪💪🙏🙏
I was wondering why you have them with meat like that? Now I know, because they taste more like a potato than a banana for those who were wondering like I was it taste good

dam, two weeks ago, I was kind of thinking that green bananas will somehow turn yellow. Now, I found myself wrong...
+Opera Mini - meaning that they just go from green to brown but no yellow first?
hey gentle deer, u r absolutely right. I think this kind of banana is a different variety from the "yellow one" and will not turn to yellow.
Green banana is just picked early and if you leave long enough will ripen.
Where can i get green bananas please. I am in Dallas
Bugingo Clementine goo to Asian o Latin supermarket

Halberstram so I'm not the only one that was sent here by Levi 😁
Can I use normal non ripe bananas?
Yes, Just make sure it is hard to the touch. If it has started to ripen it will be very soft when cooked. Thanks for your question.
@@evbare thanks!
But you will lose the benefits of the green bananas which is the resistant starch that is a fermentable fiber that feeds your good gut bacteria.
Nice, but I would rather eat them raw, somehow, like blending them with green smoothies.
You need to tell the people how long you boil.
Are these plantains or are green bananas something else
They are the green bananas. Have you tried them before?
they are two different things =) green banana is closer in taste as a potato and less tart
Knotty Hotti
in the title it says that they are plantains.
Why not tell people how long to boil ?
Are those bananas or plantains?
Green bananas
porkyo123, Some country call it Plantains. Jamaica banana, Haiti Plantains.
If you eat an unripe banana raw from the grocery store it sucks out all of the water in your mouth and it is painful dry and extremely toxic😂
Yellow bananas with brown spots are healthier. More simple sugars vs starch, more easily digested, more nutritious, and not require heating.
Too bad they're gross...
Susannah Dean You may be thinking of bruised or over ripe bananas. A perfectly ripe banana that has not started to ferment is going to be sweeter.
Green bananas contain a top source of resistance starch - which resists digestion and being turned into glucose. It doesn’t impact blood glucose levels and provides a tremendous prebiotic food sources for gut bacteria - probiotics. Green bananas are superior to yellow ones for health benefits of most people
Don't boil it use steamer
U no haffi boil it with di skin
No you don't have to, but I prefer it that way, easier to peel.
+Jamaican Diet ok
I’m a dumbass I tried to eat it raw😂
What???!!! 😂
That's not how you cook green bananas
Yes it is. I used to watch my mother boil them this way. Very nice.
we cook it both ways in Jamaica. Sometimes we peel it off, most times its left on as its easier to peel and it won't change color as fast.
Tell us how you cook yours, maybe we can learn something new.
Banana in the skin 😢
