Improv is by far the most difficult thing I've tried to learn. I spoke to a friend of mine and I realized that my problem is that I overthink too much and I'm a little uptight. It's been part of my personality for a long time, but I'm currently trying to improve on that.
What I have found after doing this for a while is that sadly if I ask people what they are up to today or what have they been doing this weekend? They don’t answer. I feel like I’m like putting them to work or something. As for topics of conversation, it’s hard. All I do is work and then I do social media. So I accidentally find myself talking about the same things. Even viewers will sometimes bring up topics but it ends up being the same topics. I mean we can only talk about things we want to see in the new Zelda so many times. What I ate that day. My high school life, stories from college, weird food quirks, television shows I’m watching. I have heard people suggest that, but that never goes anywhere. I just talk about some episode I have watched and it’s just crickets in the chat. And then I asked them what shows they have watched lately and like only one person will answer. And everyone’s just shy about it they don’t want to talk about Netflix
I've been working on being more talkative cause I used to be pretty anti social through highschool and have been making changes to my habits, I have a hard time keeping up when I'm playing games like R6 cause I get so focused, it gets even more difficult when I'm not doing the greatest or when my stream has been silent
@@vaq01 I have a bit, but it still lingers when playing solo, I've also been getting in my own head too much, so no more solo streams for me, just going to be streaming multiplayer games with friends or have someone chatting with me during solo games to help keep the flow of conversation going
For me when I stream a game I will talk to my viewers keep the conversation going and when the stream is over it feels like I am choking up and repeating the same stuff and I stutter
Honestly I used to stream on a different platform and whenever I would play video games, my viewership would go down to like one or two. If I was talking to the camera while I was driving, I would have like 20 people watching. Sadly, I can’t do that anymore because I have to be responsible. There will always be people complaining about me driving while streaming and I would always laugh but now I want to set a good example. That was more the real me. This is me trying to set a good example. Maybe I should change that lol. This also means back then I would talk about my work life. I would talk about complaints I have with the company or my manager, I would talk about this girl I have a crush on and how should I handle it? I would talk about something that upset me that I saw on the Internet. Like, we got into some real questions. Advice about trying to buy a house. I think because of this real and vulnerability, people liked me. I mean I was really goofy as well. I was literally just myself. Whereas now on twitch I’m just trying to like put on a show and have a most engaging conversation. But at the same time I don’t want to reveal too much about my personal life so I try to keep it pretty quiet. Although I visited my grandma and my uncle and I did talk about that because I felt like I wanted to get back to that personal stuff a little bit more. But I can’t talk about work because I don’t want to Reveal much and I don’t want Work to find out or something because that could be embarrassing. And I don’t want to ever talk about dating because I just don’t want to set up that dynamic with my community I don’t want people thinking that I’m trying to get girls to my content or get people involved to be my counselor or something
Sometimes I literaly have no thoughts and it's just instinct on how to play. I do scream though . . .Lol. I also lose my thoughts often. I'm not great at two things at once. I now gota learn improv and make a list of things to talk about. Now how to learn to avoid saying "uhm" and "but".
Streaming is a 2 way street. It takes both the streamer and the viewer to have an interactive stream. Sadly, I guess the burden is solely placed on the content creator cuz reasons.
